Born and bred in Singapore, I'm a die-hard fisherman with a deep love for the sport. My Friends always think fishing is a boring old man sport. I'm on a mission to show them otherwise and hopefully showcase the authentic side of fishing in Singapore's waters. EP4: Topwater Suzuki on DUO Pencil (Japanese Seabass fishing, Tokyo Bay)
Japanese sea bass (Lateolabrax japonicus).
My trip to Japan was all about catching a Japanese sea bass. Three days of no bites had me questioning if they were even in these waters. But yesterday, Ryan's catch gave me renewed hope. I did it! And on topwater pencil too!

Nice catch! ill be trying to fish in Tokyo when im there in mid November, did you look for specific fishing locations prior or have any problems fishing in areas at all? the last thing id want to do is be a nuisance.

Juvenile Seabass are seigo. Seabass over 60cm is Suzuki. Land based fishing around Tokyo Bay during the day isn’t great. Night time is much better. Take a boat next time. The bay is usually loaded.. winter is best.. non stop action in a variety of unique structure Mad max type scenarios. 60+ fish for two anglers in a 4hr session is not uncommon. Basic FW ML bass gear works fine.

@@kampungboiii used to own a 30-feet boat but I have no PCCDL so always depended on a good friend to captain it when I invite friends and clients to spend a day at the sea fishing. Sold it a couple of years back cos I can’t do much of it. So, it depends on the day… some days I am ok some days bad. Haven’t fished since but recently, went through my fishing equipments, posted some for sales in Carousell and got the itch so I went Pasir Ris Pro Pond for the first time in years. Mainly luring, 1 caught 8 fishes in 2+ hours which is almost what I can do.

Thank you sir! Yes better secure your setups because you migjt be caught offguard at an awkward angle. For me cus im doing luring so its difficult to strap on the setup cus it hampers the casting. Anyways learnt my lesson lol
@@kampungboiii understand! I do luring most of the time myself. That time my friend had a spare sit-on-top Point-65 2-piece kayak. Caught a few fishes over 3 hours. They told me afterwards that it is rare a first timer on that kayak didn’t capsize 😂
