The Norma is magnificent, I haven't experienced such pleasure in a long time. I was listening and thinking about the greatest performers of Norma: Anita Cerquetti, Leyla Gencer, and even Callas. Bravo!

La prima Norma che ho visto su youtube anni fa. Mi aveva colpito per la scenografia allestita al Teatro greco di Taormina: finalmente una versione che soddisfa anche l'occhio e non il solito obbrobrio cui siamo ahimé sottoposti! Mi è piaciuto Kunde, un Pollione moderno, ed anche gli altri interpreti. Grazie RUclips! 👍🌹👏👏👏

Excelente montaje de la opera maestra del gran genio de W. A. Mozart. Una opera que está a la altura de grandeza y belleza de las otras como Don Giovanni, La Flauta Mágica y La Nozze di Figaro. Kunde interpreta el rol de Titus divinamente. Bravo!!

Was für ein Trauerspiel, wenn eine solche grosse Oper mit einem solchen kaputten Tenor präsentiert wird. Das ist unentschulbar. Dieses Tremolo einer alten und kaputten Stimme ist unzumutbar. Es gibt hier bei youtube bessere Aufnahmen. ZB die mit McCracken und Horne oder die mit Gedda und Horne. Niemand sollte sich diese Aufnahme antun, es sei, er kann über den Tenor hinweghören,denn alles Übrige ist erstklassig und tadellos. Die inszenierung bleibt einem gottseidank erspart😂😢

Why do so many Norma productions have sets consisting of stone structures like Stonehenge? That culture was over a thousand years before the Druids and Romans. The Druids were forest dwellers. I think the Paris production for Callas got it right. The singing here is variable - I jumped when the Norma started 'Ah Bello a me' early and had to stop and start again! The Adalgisa is excellent. But I'm spoiled - was at Sutherland and Horne's very first performance in 1963!

She has a great understanding of doing recitatives.

Warum wird der Organist nicht erwähnt? Der Part ist wirklich sehr anspruchsvoll, teilweise kanonisch 2-stimmig im Pedal. Insgesamt eine sehr gute Aufführung, auch Th. Hampsons sehr bewegende Darstellung. Auch vom Orchester geht große Intensität aus und die Tempi sind vom Dirigenten hervorragend getroffen

Flórez y Kunde en sus respectivos momentos han escrito paginas ( 20 años de diferencia) maravillosas.

Fué un gran tenor heroico, esto qué cantó, ya era un canto agudo ya estaba en el lumbral del retiro Fué grandioso pero aquí un canto llano. Péro un buen espectáculo.

La interpretación de Tito en la voz del maestro Gregory Kunde estuvo magistral "outstanding" digno de un gran representante que ha dejado huella indeleble entre los mejores cantantes líricos de la actualidad. Bravo!!!

Jordan uses the standard completion of the two unfinished parts of the score, by Busoni's musical assistant, Philipp Jarnach (1892 - 1982), who was an outstanding composer in his own right. (At least 20 of his own compositions are available on RUclips and several are outstanding.) The two scenes which Jarnach completed are heard at 2:17:20 - 2:18:55, and the final scene beginning at 2:34:17 until the end. For those interested, the conductor makes 4 cuts of Busoni's own music in earlier parts of the score amounting to a loss of 374 measures of music.

This Norma is good but can't do the parts of tricky intonation without getting off tune, so not the best.

Yes, there are quite a few live recordings of this Mozart's last masterpiece opera, but for me, Sir Colin Davis stands out as the best conductor of this majestic and grand opera. He knew exactly what Mozart wanted, and how should his style and and tempo should be, and Sir Colin Davis is the master of Mozart that no other conductor can beat, other than Karl Böhm, my other best-loved of Mozart's music. Sir Colin Davis, you will be missed by Classical music lovers.

Definetly one of the best operas

Setting the opera into the napoleonic periode makes so much sense if you think about it
