I've just found your channel and really love it. People do like the train simulators but many people don't know how to get the games or even basics like how to get a proper set up. I wish you would make more. You look like you were having a lot of fun.

Ironically the simple single handle controller is the best way to play the steam engine, it acts just like the throttle and Johnson bar as in normal operation you dont engage both at the same time like on the standard controller. Iv worked on steam locomotives big and small for over 6 years combined, im definitely going to get this game

Sorry to hear that, bro. I got into rail sims around 4-5 years ago. It has become a little obsession to be honest. But it's nothing serious. I do my sessions whenever my child is sleeping and sometimes we do it together. It is a nice hobby. I was thinking to start streaming too and i'd really like to do it, but it would change my schedule, the complexity of my setup and my session. And lastly it would challenge how I feel about it. So, if it was fun for you to do that, you should continue. Don't stop, because of the missing recognition. It is a niche, therefore it's difficult. Maybe you could add some more popular games, that are no too far off a rail sim to your collection to get new people to find your channel and actually learn about that niche hobby of us. Cheers, bob

About 4 years ago I took this train Monday to Friday when I was commuting... It's great to watch what operators saw when they were driving the train. I'm seriously considering buying this sim and controller this looks pretty fun to play though I'm not train fun....

ah bummed to hear this dusty. You're right, it's probably just cause it's such a niche type of game. I genuinely don't think you should stop. You're having fun playing the game, might as well stream it. Maybe spend less time editing so it doesn't feel like too much work? I'm super busy with work but I normally have your videos on the background at the very least so I can check on any exciting moments. All the best dusty!

I just recently found your channel and subscribed because I recently discovered and developed a love for densha de go. You make the best densha videos HANDS DOWN! The downside is that like you said, it really is an obscure series, along with train games in general not having the biggest following. So I’m not sure there is really much you could do to build further in the Japanese train sim space. You would likely have to make a second channel or broaden this channel to include more popular games in order to grow your following. Whatever you do, don’t give up on densha de go, even if you have to cut down on this content drastically, because you love it. I think that even if you have to branch out and make more content that you aren’t necessarily in love with, keeping this channel going would help you maintain your drive! Much love, brother!

Hey Dusty! I've really loved watching your channel, and I know all too well the struggles of trying to make content that grows your channel. From all I've read on growing RUclips channels, it's all about chasing trends so that you appease the algorithmn. Genuine content on things you like tend to not get pushed too much unfortunately, but I think there is a way to mix the two. Even on really big channels, I see those creators say that tier lists and ranking videos are what get the most views and fractions, and do get picked up by the algorithm from time to time. You can definitely try and make some ranking videos and try and grow with those, and try to reach the broad audience with more generic titles and thumbnails like "Ranking Obscure Japanese Train Controllers!" Or something like that. You could also try and reach out to the broader train fam and ranking your favorite lines or trains, maybe even use footage from your travels! (I know I'd be interested in seeing that as well!) I think you make really fantastic content, it's just perhaps the RUclips algorithm prefers things to be packaged in a certain way unfortunately. Another suggestion would be to try and do some collabs with other creators. There are only a handful of train sim youtubers, you could reach out and see if some of them want to do a video together, like those ranking and tier videos I mentioned before. Then both of you can share viewers. You should be very proud of what you have though! You have a genuine community with people you recognize and talk to, I know I'd personally love to have a platform like that. People are genuinely interested in you and what you have to show. Definitely do not undervalue that, and be proud of it! I've been chasing that for years and still have fallen way way way short of it, even with 10 years of game dev experience :) Good luck Dusty! Hey Dusty, This is something that plagues a lot of content creators, so don't feel discouraged. You put out a lot more content than most creators and that's a lot of work that you should be commended for! My other content creator friend recently hung it up because he wasn't seeing growth and he was having bad experiences within his community from other creators. His channel was similar to yours in that it was focused on a very specific type of game and even a specific game itself (Final Fantasy Mobile games). When he would talk to me about his channel growth and how it stagnated, I advised him on trying other games/more popular games to gain viewers to diversify his content and branch out to reach a different viewer base from his standard content. Unfortunately he never did this. Having a focus is great for your dedicated viewers, and I would highly suggest not giving that up (like you said you would not do in your video! GOOD MOVE!) but branching out could help your channel grow as well. You may even reach people who don't know about DDG and end up liking that content as well when they watch your other videos! I couldn't advise you on what other games to play, though I tend to say go with the hottest newest most popular thing right now. I know that's kind of boring in a way but if views are the concern, then that should help. Don't feel the need to release as much content as you already do. It's a lot of work! It is very stressful on you and you need to think about yourself first! One major thing going for you that is not something anyone can just add to their content is your personality. You have a very fun and charismatic personality when you are making your content. It's one of the reasons why I watch your content and not any other train game person. That's what makes you unique and that's your edge. I think I told you this before, but it's the reason why I ever started playing DDG in the first place. The last thing I'll say is regarding your schedule. I think if you choose to diversify your content, you should maintain the core of your channel through your streaming content. No need to find anything new to do, I think the random wheel is plenty good enough for your weekly stream. That is where you can keep your consistency. I don't know how much you edit your streaming content (if you do at all) for uploading to RUclips, but that was another piece of advice I had for my friend. Do the streaming, and then upload that completely unedited if you can to RUclips. Far less work and essentially doubling the viewership. Take care of yourself! Your dedicated fans are always going to be here!

Hi dusty. I can undestand your problem. This is because your channel is dedicated to train games and there are not many train fans in this world yet. Even today people call me crazy cause I like driving trains. And your videos are specifically showing japanese train games which again, not a lot of people know (i personally love them though). So its hard to get views this way. But please do not think of abandoning or quitting this channel. Instead, explore and look into more games and stuff that can be of interest to large number of audience. I personally watch and like all your videos even though its been a long time since I commented on one. Thank you for reading this comment.

I'm a train game fan first so obviously I'm the target audience. Honestly I don't know how you can make yourself more appealing to more potential followers. You still have the advantage of being the english speaker who can play the games because you're passionate about it. Most game youtubers play a lot of variety rather than sticking to a certain genre but think about us who have been following you from the early days too.

My Maaan, do what you want, i will sure watch whatever you come up with. You got me hooked to Densha de Go! and had great advice where to get controllers and stuff, so thanks for that. But feel free to try other genres, explore other worlds or take a time off. Just stay the way you are, don´t dye your hair blue and start screaming around like other youtubers just to get attention.
