Check Adam-22 Calls for Kendrick to Apologize to Drake… Here’s Why He’s Wrong
Adam-22, the famous podcaster, recently stated that Kendrick Lamar should apologize to Drake for their past beef, suggesting Kendrick lacks integrity if he doesn’t. But does Adam-22 have any place in this conversation? In this video, I dive into why Adam-22 should keep out of Black culture’s issues and how Kendrick Lamar already proved himself with diss tracks like “Euphoria,” “Meet the Grams,” and “They Not Like Us,” which made waves this year. From Kendrick’s diss in “Like That” with Future and Metro Boomin to Drake’s response on “Taylor Maye Freestyle” and beyond, this beef has been settled. Watch as I break down the history and explain why outsiders like Adam-22 should keep their dist...

I agree with what you’re saying and think you’re wrong about one thing. As far as reviews go for any product, it would behoove one to know where the reviewer came from. For example, Tyler Perry’s movies are celebrated because of his accomplishments to make them himself as a black man. Not because they are profound or meaningful pieces of content. So it would behoove people to wait until “others “review the content to get an objective opinion.

Notice how i didn't shit on my own culture and people just to say "yall opinions invalid!" No because i don't believe that considering we watch hype constantly outside our community and they don't have to deal with it the way we do. I think this is a gross misinterpretation of what he was saying. Being of a culture doesn't mean that everything done by our own gets a pass. Living in London and understanding how things go in the creative scene, there are projects that get overhyped just because its done by one of our own. We have to be willing to accept both praise and criticism. As it pertains to what he said, I understand it. Take shows like Top Boy , for instance. Started off very good and in my opinion as a creative the final season was meh. Our community however was gassing it. It felt like it stopped trying to separate the characters from their historical stereotypes and gave in to it. The reason behind that becomes more clear when you understand that the internal writing process had changed and the original input of the main creator/actor was taken less and less as the series moved to netflix. So I agree, the opinions in our community need to be taken with a grain of salt, because while we are all black, some of us have better taste than others.... some of us think souljabay and blueface are good rappers..... others know better

    • @ZayvonDaDon
      @ZayvonDaDon 6 дней назад

Honestly bro, if we all acted as he's wanting us to then we'd end up with more and more situations similar to the Pink Sauce lady when she went on that talk show or whatever. To me this is just a form of toxic positivity veiled behind race, sure some of us are legit crabs in a bucket when it comes to certain things in life but I find the better solution to this would be to take the criticism and/or envy we have for one another and use that as fuel to boost our own aspirations. Shouldn't be as focused on what or how people perceive our work but rather how what they say good or bad can help elevate our work. No different than the western gaming scene atm. Bad games do and sell bad because people don't like them and good ones do good because people do like and enjoy them, but take my words with a grain of salt.

I get where he's coming from when it comes to having reservations about something black people are hyping up. Sometimes black people do hype up bullshit just because it's made by Black people for Black people. Tyler Perry and his empire of mediocrity exists. It's not even like Black people are the only ones to do that. The term(s) Great White Hope/Great White Hype exist for a reason. Whenever, a group is underrepresented in an area, any push by members of that group into that area is going to be praised by members of the group even if it's not really deserving. Where the dude loses me is waiting for validation from other races before he gives it a chance. That's crazy. It basically ignores the possibility that something targeted at black people could be good to black people and not liked or understood by nonblack people. It's wild for that dude to not even consider that. Black people are very creative. A lot of our works are embraced by people of all cultures, but a lot of it doesn't really leave our community because some stuff is for us by us.

While i do not like Tyler perry he had a couple of movies that are good, not outstanding but good, Why did I get Married (1), The Family that Preys, and many that are relatable but are bad. These movies are directed at Black people and because hes cheap he doesn't wanna pay editors or other writers so its does come out BAD. *And many Black people call that out* so Yeah we not seeing eye to eye on your first statement simple because we are a very vocal people. Tyler Perry only gets away with it because the fan base he has is ok with campy. Then we get to Jordan Peele, Spike Lee, John Singleton, Ava DuVernay, Isa Rae, Donald Glover. Who all have done some really good stuff. Directed towards us and we didnt need White people approval. For example: Get Out is a CLASSIC it got hyped up and fulfilled the hype. "US" Came next with a lil hype and alot of us didn't like it, I did but a good amount of us did not. We should be allowed that room. You should also choose for your self if you liked it or not. If you simply not interested talking like this just make you look like you hate yourself

I dont think its a terrible thing to want to get a few different opinions before investing time in something. I havent found the time to watch this show, and I want to, I think the reviews have been good. But I do think that if someone wants to wait before investing time to watch a show to get a normalized opinion I think that is fair enough. I think people are WAY too into this identity BS. I saw black panther and absolutely loved it, not because it was a black story but because it was a great representation of the comics and had a tremendous cast that made it come alive. It doesnt need my white ass approving it to be good, but my dollars certainly I hoped would go to encouraging more movies to be made in THAT vien...ie honest to the comics, just like the first Capt Marvel. But I do think that its fair to say that some people will say something is amazing SIMPLY because it was a female or white or black or whatever story/director/lead. I think that is a mistake...look at Acolyte. It got bombed cause it shat on the cannon of star wars NOT because it was run by females. And so, I think someone wanting to see if a show is more universally seen as good and thus worth the time to watch isnt terrible. That all said, NOT all media is for all audiences, and that is fair. This is new media, not to my knowledge based on book or existing superhero canon. Its not race swapping or gender bending. Its all original and in that sense it could be something that is written and directed specifically to fill a need in the black community media circle. If so, then I think that is both good and fair and in that case I hope it does great. Its been on my list....but maybe I need to raise it up a bit.

    • @afronomenonstudio

"Normalized opinion" If he is clearly only doing this for one set of people which is how he prefaces it then its not normalized its racialized. He can just say im not interested and leave it at that. Going out of your way to demonize a community that already doesn't get representation enough and demonized the way things get hype in there first place because LITERALLY THIS IS THE ONLY WAY BLACK MEDIA GETS TO MOVE ON TO BIGGER PLATFORMS. We typically do not get the room to be "CULT CLASSICS". That isnt cool no matter how you attempt to spin it.

@@afronomenonstudio i do not think @shadowmancer99 was trying to spin this. @@afronomenonstudio My pt is that there is X time in the day, and lots of things people may want to be consuming. If you need to make choices, sometimes it helps if you have a set of good reviews and listening to only one group when you want to have a more balanced input set is not terrible. That isnt to say the majority or even balanced input is the only way to decide but obviously some people are not going to take a set of reviews as "serious" if its all clustered from one group. If only asians liked Shang Chi, I think that might be a problem but if I recall, it seemed to play well across demographics....I mean I liked it quite a bit. I know it might not be SPOKEN of that much in relation to other groups, but I think most people arent looking for just THEIR content creators, actors, whatever they are looking for GOOD material regardless where it comes from.

cant lie, he was very right in his take that, because it is a black made show, there will be a subconcious bias as to whether it is good or not, in favor of good. Miles isnt a a race swap though....yes he is another version of a spider man but I think he is prety unique in himself. I think Static should absolutely get more respect on his name too. I think Icon should get a movie or show, much better than trying to make a black Clark Kent superman in my opinion....Icon's story is similar but again I think more meaningful than simply swapping Kent's skin tone in the name of diversity.

Bro where tf do you get that bullshit from that miles is a race swapped character. Like he’s a black original character nothing race swapped about him

@@tbphillips9649 I agree Miles isnt a race swapped character. He took the Spiderman identity, but that isnt the same as what most people call "race swapped." I see it as say, making Clark Kent Black, or changing the Ancient One to a white woman for some idiotic reason. I am TOTALLY again race/gender/orientation swapping, but I ALL for a diversity of characters...I loved Shadow Hawk, Static Shock, Icon, and I would love it people would stop fucking with existing works and if you are going to do adaptations be faithful to the descriptions/canon. Harry Potter did well cause they kept that true to the books.....Ya, Miles is his own unique character much like Miguel in Spiderman 2099....and if I am going to critique current bad trends I want to be clear where that line is....

Tbh ion think that’s wat they’re saying, I think they’re saying even tho a show or manga or watever could in all reality be bad, but because it’s made by black people for black people, it’s automatically supposed to be recommended or watched because we’re black.

I think this is a very American way of thinking. I think this because the last time I was in States I was in Vegas and U2 were playing the dome- every single American person I spoke to assumed I was there to see U2, and they were shocked that myself, an Irish woman, was not going to see U2 because they are Irish! It was quite funny lol

Thats isnt what he is saying. He is literally saying that the validation of other people is worth more to him because Black peoples response to it isn't. For example.: White people hyped up that new joker. THAT SHIT BOMBED. You will never, EVER hear them say what he said, nor will you hear him say that about nonblack media. Non-Black movies and media get the space to be hyped up and carry or fail. Difference here is Supacell came out early summer and its fall and people are still talking about it. Maybe the Hype is real. If he chooses not to go for the hype he can wait it out. For example, Like I am doing with Doechii's album, then giving it a try myself but you wont catch me talking like someones elese validation is worth more to me than mine or my communities. Even if its not for me. I know negativity carries so why speak.

How is it an American way of thinking *IF HE FROM THE UK?!!!* No what you're missing is the cultural nuances that causes this way of thinking. One the obvious is the lack of representation and the fact Black culture is constantly judged from a racist stand point and... two- >example I am from Asbury Park, New Jersey who else from there, Bruce Springsteen. I've never hear a record from him and if i have i wouldn't know it was him. There are people who are surprised by that but typically, THEY ARE WHITE EVEN NON AMERICANS bc apparently he is big across seas too. I tell a Black person that, even from our town, they get it. It may not be our cup of tea but White people from Jersey and honestly everywhere HYPE Bruce up. Ill never know wheather he is good or not because I aint into that style of music but if im going to figure out whether its good or not I'm not waiting for white people to say its good, nor even Black folks. THATS IS A INHUME WAY OF THINKING. Has nothing to do with nationality.

they are a very conservative society ran by men. Simple, historically cultural oppression of women in Japan is a norm. That the women them selves in more Liberal areas are trying to change because it put them in danger. But stuff like this sells there and, because its not looked at great in the western world to do, men with the same mindsets will buy it here too
