on the engines there are four engines actually 2 are petrol i.e. 2.7l 2TR-FE and a 4.0l 1GR-FE for the diesels, there are two i.e. 3.0l 1KD-FTV and a 2.8l 1GD-FTV the 1KD was discontinued as of 2016 and replaced with the 1GD, the key improvements to the 1GD-FTV engine is a timing chain rather than a belt, the engine is much quieter than its predecessor and the fuel consumption is reduced similarly the 1GR-FE engine was discontinued in the Prado series as of 2015 and the models featuring it were equipped with the 1GD-FTV. The 1GR fuel consumption was just so high however it was the best sounding engine of the four
