Most of chinchillas are very scared of everything and it is impossible to weight them. Monitoring your chinchillas weight is important to keep an eye on their health. Since they have very dense fur, it is impossible to say if they lost or gained weight just by staring at them. So far this is the only trick which worked with my chins: filling a a kitchen container with fresh sand they enjoy bath...

Hey! I'm thinking about getting a chinchilla and was wondering if a large breathable wood cage is okay or if they'll eventually chew their way out of it? Should it not be a problem if they're happy!?
Hi! Depends from which type of wood the cage is. There are lists with safe/toxic wood arts for Chins. In general, wooden cages are the best as there is much less risk of injury compared to the metal ones. They will nibble on the ledges, but the walls after 3 years in my case remained untuched. Sometimes if you order a wooden cage they can put aluminum protection on the edges. But it is mostly for decorative purposes. If chinchillas are happy, they treat their cage like home and do not try to escape (just the opposite, during the walking time, in case they got scared or tired, they just come back). If you also provide wooden sticks and e.g. cork tunnel -- they most probably will prefer them instead of the hausparts😊

Это шиншилла. Они в природе живут в горах в Андах в группах до 100 особей, так как они социальные животные. Питаются очень скромно и имеют строгую диету в домашних условиях:) Беременность длится 111 дней и обычно мама шиншилла приветствует 2-3 детёныша. Шерсть у шиншилл очень плотная и чистят они ее исключительно с помощью песка. Такая вот короткая справка)

Interesting fact about chinchillas teeth: they have yellow colour when they healthy, not white like in humans.

Actually, the opposite of I said "Rabbit teeth should be bright white, but may become discolored. This must be managed and prevented. Yellow, brown, or black discoloration is a warning that your rabbit's teeth aren't healthy. A diet of fresh timothy should make up 90% of a rabbit's diet, as it files down discolored ends"
