2:50 for the talking. 5 mins at the end here but was 25 minutes in total, the start of the recording sounded like a numbers station to begin with as sounded like an eastern european station. RUclips has identified the following: Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Major, Op. 100: II. Andante tranquilo David Oistrakh, Sviatoslav Richter Content found during: 2:25 - 5:34 I have edited out 2 quiet sections

Time to get learning in the new year - Open University Presentation of a course that is no longer available. OU M203 (1980-1996) (Intro to Pure Mathematics). Some audio hiss and the picture quality is a little noisy and needed to balance the tracking at the top and bottom of the picture. From a Scotch Beta tape. I wonder if this graphics was done on the Acorn Archimedes (rather than BBC/Master) ?
I thought it was Germany where the "OK" sign meant "You're an asshole." I wasn't aware it had that meaning in France as well. LOL, also, I've never heard of it to mean ANYTHING in Japan, especially not money.
@naysmith5272 I used B*B* C*G*e*n*o*m*e to search for Homeomorphisms and found a transmission date that stacked up with all the other programmes and repeats.
Missing him still in 2025 ❤❤
Watching this, I think that today's UC is more strict about rules like "Nominate [name]" and answering immediately after buzzing. On the other hand, the questions seem easier than nowadays...still the breadth of knowledge is incredibly impressive without the advent of online encyclopedias.
@7:48 - that is James Gaddas from ITV's "Bad Girls".
thing is, how I used to fancy the pants off of Louise, she has to be knocking on 70 just now....

Scouring the web for some archive footage of grass roots featuring my old primary school. Was hoping this was it but unfortunately not…looking for dec 28th 1999 as that’s when my school was featured about the schools millennium garden Grass Roots helped with. The videos featured at end of this video (green vhs) is my school video! Wish it was on dvd too…

Great upload here thank you so much for uploading this to RUclips I love watching these old junctions
Pedology was correct! That combined with the iffy Richard answer could have given it to Open. I think Bamber Gascoigne displayed some favouritism there. Whatever people say I like the modern format, it's more professional and the long preambles favour contestants with obscure knowledge who can buzz in early.
I watched this in the 1970s as a kid, I ejoyed it but didn't understand it. lol
2001 Today on the other side showed the main part, cos the BBC hold the copyright for New Year Live for the firework display.
BBC2 Sunday 1st September 1985
how did you get that - I'm not doubting you.
@@naysmith5272 Hiya, no worries, I used a combination of BBC Genome and UKArchiveTV to search some of the programme subjects and using 1st September, all the other repeats and following programmes mentioned fit into place timing and date wise. Sunday 1st BBC2 9:45am Mathematical Induction - repeated Thursday 5th 6:30am. Sunday 1st 10:10am Homeomorphisms, Sunday 8th 10:10am Pure Maths: Knots.
@@naysmith5272 Hi there, I used B B C G e n o me to search for Homeomorphisms and found a date which stacked up with times and dates of all programmes mentioned in the clip.
This was when the third millennium ACTUALLY started, not 2000. 2000 was the biggest celebration, due to the calendar changing all four digits, which was incredibly significant and rare for the calendar system.
No
Anyone going to post the whole play? Great days of television.

Apologies - the studio scenes appear less well defined than normal. A recording captured from a Beta tape. A BASF Chrome L750. I found those tapes can be a pain on occassions.

'Arrival' won the audience vote on 'David Essex Showcase' episode 7 broadcast 7th August 1982; returned as guests in the following week's show and then appeared in final, the week after. They lost out to Philip Jap.
@naysmith5272 I need a favour, @stickytapenrust6869 has uploaded a clip of BBC ONE from 21st April 2001, he also has an episode of Parkinson which features David Jason. But for some reason the user has decided to put it aside. Thing is, we shouldn't have to wait. So please could you kindly ask him to upload that Parkinson episode because I tried to comment but not comment wouldn't go through as it's not visible.
is this put aside for later this year?
Do you know how long ago JMX Archive went off?

If this came from Betamax, I’m guessing the strip of tape was caught underneath that bit of plastic that greets you when you open up the flap at the top of the cassette.
Yes it is Sony Beta tape - If I understand correct then the tape is fine with the plastic guide and also the tape is not bent or being pushed against the bottom or top of the cassette mechanism. The picture seems to be correctly located if I fast spool and on different capture attempts (I put some details in a community post)
@@naysmith5272 Open up the flap at the top of the cassette and make sure it’s not underneath that bit of plastic that greets you.

On the Day after Eunice Huthart & Paul Field Became UK Gladiators Champions!
According to Muppet Wiki, this was originally broadcast as episode 2294 on February 19, 1987 in the US, part of the show's 18th season. Based on the Wiki's comprehensive guide to the episode and this recording, it seems a substantial amount of footage was cut. Perhaps Channel 4 had edited the hour-long show down to fit in a half hour time slot?
Rubbish 😂
