Fun fact: Inspector Gadget was originally likely developed as a spin-off of Lupin the Third called Lupin VIII, a futuristic version developed for western audiences, was cancelled due to financial disputes with the estate of Arsène Lupin creator Maurice Leblanc. Instead, they created a new cartoon, Inspector Gadget.

I grew up watching Inspector Gadget on Nickelodeon, CBS, the Family Channel (pre-ABC Family, pre-FOX Family and currently now known as Freeform), and my local stations WFTY-TV 50 here in Washington, D.C. & WTAT-TV Fox 24 in South Carolina in the 90’s (though I saw it more on Nickelodeon in the late 80’s when I was younger).

Inspector Gadget was also aired on New York/New Jersey superstation feed WWOR & WWOR-EMI Serivce from 1992 to 1994 when it was used to be with Camp Candy, James Bond Jr., Tom & Jerry, The Flintstones, Bugs & Daffy, the 90's version of The Pink Panther, The Bots Masters, Saban's Around in the World 80 Dreams, Widget, Mr. Bogus, The Woody Woodpecker Show (1987 version) and The Adventures of T-Rex during the weekday morning lineup.

The rer-runs of Inspector Gadget apparently had great ratings as it was enough for a movie starring Matthew Broderick to get greenlit. I knew the last "new" episode was 86. I would have guessed this ran for five years, 1983 to 1987, at least, but they still replayed and kept it in reruns on many syndicated local stations up until through the early to mid 90s. They had Inspector Gadget collectors cards from Impel, 4 Go-Go Gadget Gizmos toys from a Burger King Kids Club Meal promotion, a line of Inspector Gadget action figures and vehicles from Tiger Toys. I know watching this on Nick, same with Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats. I also watched reruns of this on CBS on Saturday afternoons as part of its "Kid TV" Saturday Morning cartoon block during the brief comeback in the early 90s. It would come on after Where's Waldo? and before the Riders in the Sky. I also watched reruns of this on the Family Channel in the early to mid 90s. It used to be on with (I think) The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, Wish Kid, the Hanna-Barbera Popeye cartoon, Popeye & Son, The Flintstone Kids, Augie Doggie and Friends, The New Archies, Hey Vern, It's Ernest!, Pro Stars!, Captain N: The Gamemaster, The Littles, the Filmation Archie cartoons, Babar, Rupert, Super Dave, and Xuxa. I also know when Inspector Gadget aired on Nickelodeon again from 1996 to 2000. I definitely know Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats on Fox Family (pre-ABC Family and currently now Freeform) since 1998. There was a Christmas Special in the early 90s I know airing on TV, so it did have some new material after its initial run. As a kid, I was not confused how Nickelodeon had the rights to air the cartoon, but had the rights to produce the live-action movie. Inspector Gadget was a staple of Nick until 2000. It would later been seen on Fox Family (right before its rebranding as ABC Family) before the sale to Fox to Disney (which owns Gadget at the time) in 2001 when it was used to be on with Bad Dog, Garfield & Friends and The Kids From Room 402 during the afternoon lineup.

Looks great! And with this episode, it's just in time for Halloween! I also like how really bouncy and cartoony the animation is in this episode... wouldn't be surprised if that unit at TMS was ordered to tone things down afterward. ("All That Glitters," "Gadget Goes West" and "Launch Time" look visually similar to this episode but with less cartoony movements.)

Perhaps of my favorite cartoons ever! I never missed it when it came on everyday, weekdays, and Saturday and Sundays, I watched it when they started playing it daily after school on Nickelodeon. Good call!!

I grew up in the late 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s, but I like watching this. What I did know was that I watching reruns, because the show’s original run was 1983-86. I know watching Inspector Gadget all the time and just learned that DIC, at one point in time, was a going to do a revival of the show in the early 1990s. The Xmas special, the Super Nintendo game, the acting figure line by Tiger Toys and released by DIC Enterprises (the company that created and produced the cartoon, The Littles, Heathcliff, The Real Ghostbusters, Dennis the Menace, StarCom, Slimer! And The Real Ghostbusters, Captain N: The Game Master, The Wizard of Oz, New Kids on the Block, Captain Planet And The Planeteers, G.I. Joe, Swamp Thing, Hammerman, Pro Stars!, Wish Kid, the failed Defenders of Dynatron City and BattleToads pilots, the repackaging version of The New 3 Stooges, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog, Double Dragon, Hurricanes, All-New Dennis the Menace, Madeline and countless 90s cartoons) that was based on the series, the line primarily consisted of Gadget variants, each one sporting a different gadget and accessory and wearing different colored clothing (one even had a purple face). Also featuring the Gadgetmobile, the only character missing from the series was Quimby, and the most notable part of the line, that had a Dr. Claw figure packaged so you had to buy it to see what his face had looked like. A rare variant featured standard packaging with Dr. Claw fully visible. ad Gadget sport a variety of different colored costumes. Then again that was the earlier 90's, and we all know how infamous colorful Batman became with those toys based on Batman: The Animated Series. Actually, if Inspector Gadget was colored to look like those figures, here's what he would have looked like wearing 10 different colored jackets: gray, pale blue, light turquoise, dark yellow, violet, perwinkle, medium blue, orange, magenta, and yellow.' This version of Dr. Claw is based on his classic colors, with snap on accessories to re/create those classic on-screen scenes. It was like they were just short of actually developing and pitched a new animated TV cartoon show, along with reruns of all 86 episodes of 3 seasons, but they backed out and made some lame merchandising tie-in instead.

As a kid who grew up with the Inspector Gadget cartoon (in syndication in the 80's and 90's), I did like the movie by Disney, for several reasons.

I LOVE this show!! I used to watch it all the time when it was on either on Nickelodeon (you know back when it was cool, and all of the shows they aired DIDN'T suck.), CBS Saturday Mornings (sometimes), in syndication on my local FOX station in South Carolina (typically in the early mornings), The Family Channel/FOX Family Channel and ABC Family in the 1990's and 2000's (though I saw it more on Nick in the late 1980's), and I never missed an episode. Don Adams rocked on this show just like on "Get Smart" (which this show kind of takes off from) The best part of the show was when Penny would always solve the crime, and Gadget would always walk right into it, and get the credit (Sure it's not a good thing, but this show made it cool). I wish I was like Inspector Gadget because he has all of those gadgets like the umbrella, and the roller skates. That would be so cool if I was like Gadget, except I'd be way smarter. P.S. I seen the movie it.

It was in reruns on Nickelodeon back then and I loved watching Gadget do his things with Penny and Brain against the faceless Dr. Claw (whose identity would be revealed in the live action movie and an action figure from the movie). Along the way, Gadget meets Chief Quimby to get his dossier and he's on the mission!!! Fun for all ages despite its age and music. Don Adams, of Get Smart fame, plays IG, while Cree Summer plays Penny and Frank Welker, still alive, plays Dr. Claw. At the end of each episode, much like He-Man, there is a moral to teach kids how to be safe.

Anyone knows who had cable knows watching Inspector Gadget on Nickelodeon, Saturday mornings on CBS, various syndicated channels, The Family Channel (FAM TV), Fox Family and ABC Family.

Much like Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget began in 1st-run syndication, before getting picked up for cable reruns by Nick, thus is a Nickelodeon classic. It was also on CBS on Saturday afternoons as part of its Saturday Morning cartoon block or 1 of the various multi lettered big four (4) networks in the early 90's.

Was this remaster done with a film print source, or is it a perfectly done upscale?

Inspector Gadget first ran syndicated on local channels, then on Nickelodeon, then on CBS on Saturday afternoons, then on The Family Channel, FOX Family Channel, ABC Family (now Freeform) and the world over.

Inspector Gadget also was aired on Nickelodeon, Family Channel, syndication, and CBS because I do know watching this on Saturday mornings on CBS as reruns the same with Nickelodeon, Family Channel and local syndicated television all in the 1990's.

The Public Safety announcement (PSA) segments of Inspector Gadget was rerun as an interstitial show on Pax in 1999 in between The Adventures of Super Mario Brothers 3 and Super Mario World.

Man, I was so into Inspector Gadget when the cartoon hit Nickelodeon.

Ahh, Inspector Gadget. I watched this one on various syndicated channels for years, along with Nickelodeon.

This show was first originally aired syndicated on UHF networks.

I thought Inspector Gadget was on CBS for awhile in the early 90's, in the Saturday morning lineup with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Muppets Babies, Garfield & Friends, Mother Goose & Grimm, Back to the Future, Where's Waldo? and the Riders in the Sky.

I thought it was on Fox in my area for awhile at one point in the early 90's, in the weekday morning lineup with the Ninja Turtles, Goof Troop, Beetlejuice, Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, and Woody Woodpecker.

I know Nickelodeon played Inspector Gadget after its initial syndicated run. It was still airing repeats in syndicated stations up until the mid 90's.

I liked Inspector Gadget as a kid. I watched it pretty obsessively. Also, I know the Family Channel had an Inspector Gadget-related contest where you had to be one of the first people to call in to win.
