love your home
Love this man’s enthusiasm and his God honoring gratitude! Truly gifted.
This is a wonderful video Andy. In our home we are fans of your art and everything you do. We always visit your blog but this is the first time I have seen a video of your great art journey. Best wishes to you, your wife and family.
❤❤❤from iran
An interesting and very insightful video of your artistic journey
I feel as if I had just attended a seminar. Thank you for being yourself, and sharing your (and your wife’s) talents.
Decided from Instagram to see if you were on You Tube. It has been great to listen to the steps from renting to home/studio ownership. Same for the unfolding of your art and daily painting. (PS my dad was a pilot too) So thank you for your video. I told my husband about your system of originals and prints so we will have to contact you all soon. Keep up your tussle with cancer. God is with you.
thank you for your kind words. Happy to answer any questions I can. Andy

Timeless art. Thanks for the tour. ❣️
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful. I love seeing peoples creative spaces.
Thank you! 😊
Never have I encountered an artist with such a remarkable sense of grounding. The love and partnership between Andy and his unseen wife are clear. It's good to know creative people can live such full and balanced lives.
thank you for the kind words!
Beautiful work.
I love that he acknowledges his wife’s efforts and contributions to his success. Very beautiful work.
Thanks for this entry into your creativity, and what inspires yo
You are so welcome!
Lucky to have come upon this , It's so inspiring and moving , seemed as if i was in the room with the artist. Made my day . Thanks
Of late, I have been making my own sketchbooks using heavier paper on order to do preliminary sketches using watercolors. These sketchbooks are easy to make and portable. By using water-lines, rather than scissor lines, then cutting along the water-lines for the sizes you want, then sewing them together in the middle……and ……..voila………thick paged sketchbooks. Plus they are more reasonably priced.Really, thick enough sketchbooks are impossible to find that are thick enough for watercolor.
Andy! I couldn’t believe it when I saw that blue light next to your channel! So wonderful to see you and all your glorious work again! Thank you for making my day!! 🌟
How beautiful is this artist....divine...thank you for sharing....
Thankyou and bless you for your kind and generous comments.
We met Andy and Linda while participating in juried Traditional Artisan shows in the Northeast years ago. They are a lovely couple who compliment each other in their work through humor, kindness and talent and my husband and I are blessed to have met them. This is a delightful video that shows Andy's gentle heart and passionate light in a humble yet powerful way. Thank-you for sharing my Saturday morning with me through this video, Andy. Till we meet again, much love to you both!
Bruh...u said My Wife 100 times. Lol
well, she is my business partner, main support and without her I would never have been able to paint full time for a living for 42 years. So I am blessed!
This video was wonderful! I really enjoyed hearing some of your story and seeing your studio. The paintings are beautiful! I will keep following your work. Hopefully soon I will purchase a print. Thank you for sharing your passion!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing your art and home. I love the way you celebrate your wife, and your history together. Just beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much!
What a delightful experience!! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely work!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
you said wooder. are you from S.E.Pennsylvania?
I live in Lititz, PA which is Lancaster County!
My sister put your card in my box at the Twin Lakes Arts and Heritage Festive. I was demonstrating twining rugs at the time so she texted me to look for your card. She thought I would enjoy your watercolor paintings. I do. My first love was painting watercolors with an old metal Prang watercolor box. Thank you for your video. Will you be returning to TLAHF next year? I hope to see you and your wife there!
I did not get a chance to walk around! 4 days is a long show but I did well. Thinking about returning! Have a great rest of your year.
Your absolutely right. I’ve been a freelance illustrator for over 25 years and every day I to get to be an artist, every day I get to get up and create something new. It’s my job, but I could not think of doing anything else.
Hello! I am blessed and I know it! I would feel lost if I could not paint. Stay well and keep at it!
I have a friend that shared a watercolor of yours with me and I loved it! Had to look you up, and I'm glad I did! I was wondering when you might have classes again... I have been dabbling in watercolor myself but get frustrated as I don't think I'm a very good sketcher. I'm trying and would like some direction...
Hello Diane, At the moment our house is all torn up for a kitchen remodel, no end in sight!! So I do not have classes on my schedule. BUT, watch my other you-tubes, especially the snowman. That should help. Spend some time drawing, it is a foundation for watercolor. I start my students with a pear (buy a nice bartlet) 5x7 paper, 1/2 " border around. Study it, notice the light areas. the colors. Draw it, filling up the page. Go to my student blog and scroll around to the beginners and see how each one looks andysmithteacher.blogspot.com feel free to email me directly andy@andysmithartist.com slow down and observe before painting. Use a hairdryer to dry your washes. Andy
Thank you for sharing your life and your love for art. You are a loving person and I love your spirit.
Thank you so much!
I agree!👏🏽
Wow this guy has really inspired me as an artist. Im really going to discipline myself to draw everyday! Because its what i love to do. Its what im supposed to do! Thanks Andy! Keep creating and keep inspiring!
thank you for the kind words. Do what you love. I happen to love watercolors. But it is also my living! You may enjoy my blog: www.andysmithartist.blogspot.com Keep working at it. PRACTICE!
There is enough peace in my head that I don't need peace and quiet
I am a pretty laid back guy! That helps with my paintings.
incredible I love how you live and do art in all parts of your home. Such a lovely tour
thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it. Yes, my art has taken over our whole house! Luckily my wife is ok with that as long as I keep it a bit tidy. It helps to be able to paint anywhere in the house and studio, then I can be part of my family life.
Thanks Andy, I got a lot from this video.🖌
Great to hear!
It’s alive!!! So beautiful. It really has been so special to watch and listen to you as you created this painting. I have learned so much and really feel refreshed in such a short time span… it’s pretty amazing, I now want to practice ( on a much smaller scale 😄 ) instead of dreading opening my paints. While I’m very sure I will continue to make a million mistakes, thanks for giving me the WHY to my practice 🙏🏽
I did not take lessons. I just painted. Stay smaller to start, so it is not so overwhelming. Glad I could inspire you.
I can now see how you filled the negative spaces and how much of a difference it makes to the flow and movement in the grass. Yes, again thank you
I am glad you are understanding it.
@@andysmithartist5188 thanks for your reply. Any chance you are going to put out any more YT videos, or maybe make pre-recorded video lessons for purchase? I know you have a full plate, so I understand if not… I thought I would ask 😄! Your videos have given me a great boost in my painting, I have a long way to go, but I feel more comfortable with some of the concepts and my process just by watching your videos! So, again, thank you 🙏🏽
Another T-shirt would say “Negative Spaces!” I had no clue. You are really getting me to understand the composition of the picture in terms of where and how to lay the paint. I can see how I was so busy putting down the paint, I really missed the point of refinement and technique. No wonder my colors at some point would become undefined and muddled! Yes, I’m going to say it again, thank you Andy
I am so glad you are being inspired!! Watercolors are not easy. Slow down, study the subject before starting. Use a hairdryer to dry each layer. It is about the journey of washes more than just the finished painting. Keep at it
Wow, I just love your videos Andy! Your process is amazing to watch because you are speaking right to the point in your work which is so clarifying for me. You’ve already helped me cleared up some bad habits that were making my painting sessions just a frustrating experience. I think I’m going to be saying thank you to you over and over🤣
GREAT! Remember to take your time, slow down and learn to enjoy the process not just the finished painting. PRACTICE! I have a Blog you may enjoy www.andysmithartist.blogspot.com
I am impressed how much information you impart in such a short amount of time! This really helped me. Thank you
I'm so glad!
I have finally begun keeping a consistent sketch journals and wow does it make a difference in the quality of my drawings! Thanks for giving a peek at your journals ☺️
I have always journaled and not just sketching, sometimes its good to write what is happening in your life of just a few lines of what you are grateful for! Keep it up
So beautiful! I need a T-shirt that says “Take your Time!” I am an impatient beginner who ends up with the predictable muddled mess of colors because I somehow think I’m smarter than the paint 😅 The hairdryer is just what I need with my impatient technique of NOT letting my colors dry completely! Thank you 🙏🏽
You are a beginner, you are looking at 42 years of painting EVERY day, almost all day for a living. So be kind to yourself. But practice!
Thank so much. I just found your channel and I not only love your work but appreciate you sharing your insights on your process and your artistic journey. I was fascinated to hear that watercolor was a challenge for you. I too, find watercolor extremely challenging and your video has given me some renewed hope to keep moving forward and focus on the learning process instead of the dreams of painting perfection!! 👏🏽👏🏽
there is not painting perfection! It is a journey. Feel free to contact me by email if you have questions. I also have a blog, if you scroll through it you can see some demos www.andysmithartist.blogspot.com enjoy
