Part of the reason why I chose to go with a Panasonic 9000 was due to its HDR optimizer. I can turn off dynamic tone mapping on my LG GX OLED TV and enable the optimizer on my Panasonic 9000, which then gives one a far better noticeable visual result! Plus, in my particular case knowing the Panasonic is going into an arcam AVR, which also happens to have a similar sabre DAC as to the high-end magnetar disc player I've never felt the need to ever have to go into the Panasonic network settings to obtain better audio results. After spending a shitload on shielded cables so I have an exceptionally quiet room, I wasn't prepared to take the risk of being slightly distracted by the 820s, apparently slightly noisier disc player. Hence, it's the Panasonic 9000 for me.

Tip: if you can’t afford the repairs then don’t buy it! Just like a car. I bought the Panasonic 9000. It failed after 13 months (lucky me) out of warranty. Contacted Panasonic and repairs were going to be $700. $700 on a player that cost me $1200! I took the massive L and will never buy another Panasonic product ever again.
