I find this tour amusing. I moved here from a city out- of- state that became a sh*thole in the same way that is taking over the Twin Cities. Even as a sh*thole, the presentation of my deicmated hometown on the internet, photos & articles, make it look not half bad. Even, the prices for homes on sites like Zillow are laughable. I know the shape of many of the abandoned/drug houses they have going for 50K, some 14K, and all are equally bad. Knowing the area, I read on how a site like Trip Advisor sells my hometwon. The lakes around here are still nice. There are still the nice walking trails. However, the crime, politics, taxation, and poor business culture of the state is spreading to once nice, quiet, safe neighborhoods. When I see ghetto trash acting rude inside Lunds...When I encounter Minneapolis culture walking their pitbulls on the trails now and taking the whole sidewalk for themselves, and see the quick decline of the house and yard with the influx of Minneaplois culture moving into the burbs. No, I'm not buying the swamp you are selling.

I live in Apple Valley right now! Grew up here and now go to the U of M. Love to hear the history of my hometown!

Great tour, and Happy Thanksgiving 2024. I lived in St. Paul from age two through seven (88' - 94') and still remember it like the back of my hand. I moved to Southern Cali (Ridgecrest, CA) until I graduated high school. It's funny that I went from extreme cold weather straight to one of the hottest places on earth. I remember living right near the area of the brewery. We lived by some train tracks in a two story duplex that was painted green. It was located on a pretty empty off street next to the train tracks. This video brings up so many memories. I went to Central Lutheran School with my brothers. I heard they closed it due to funding issues stemming from the 2008 crash; and never fully recovered. I think the high rise apartment building near Irving park is where my grandmother lived. If I'm correct, it's a building for senior living. We used to get binoculars and check out the state capitol from her high floor apartment she had. Life goes by fast.

I've lived in the Seattle-Tacoma Area most of my life and I visited Minneapolis back in January 2022. It seems like a decent place to live. It is a much cleaner city than Seattle or Tacoma or Portland, OR.

I recall many years ago being at someone’s house near Lake Nokomis and the airplane noise was wild. We were in the back yard and had to pause our conversation every two minutes. 😂 but really nice older house and quiet inside.

I haven’t been in St. Paul for 30 years. It looks so much nicer now. I worked on Robert and used to lunch in the skyway. I mostly remember inebriated guys wanting to tell me about Jesus or whatever the topic was for that day.

I worked downtown in the mid to late’90’s and that may have been the start of the decline. The city would give huge tax credits to get businesses to stay or build downtown. I think employees would have preferred suburbs with free parking at that time. Now most people work at home. It’s all changed now.

I lived in Apple Valley in the late ‘90’s and I honestly don’t recognize anything. I looked at my old place on Zillow and it’s amazing how little the price increased since I sold 25 years ago.

The Mexican restaurant used to be the Dells Cafe or Restaurant, I don't remember which one, had lots of good memories there as a kid, the food was always good, much more simpler times. 👍

For a year straight, I drove to St. Paul and Minneapolis stayed their for 5+ hours. I used to be right by Target Field / Center. I spent more time going out to Eagan and Bloomington. I picked up a pickup truck from a guy right as the pandemic started! I was on the interstate trying to leave with a motorcoach full of people during the Castille protests! I need to take a drive and look at more of the city!
