Interior Progress on Higgins' door panels
We pressed on with door panel installation even though I brained myself at at the end of day 1.

Attempt at installing an interior in Higgins
Просмотров 65День назад
My goal was to get door panels on and maybe even get the sound deadener padding down so the carpet could be put down. Spoiler alert: I didn't get close. Photo of TR2 door is found here: john-skinner.co.uk/models/triumph/tr3/#group-2
Front bumpers are finally done...for now
Просмотров 17221 день назад
I finally got them done. The first bumper mount took over a week of part-time work and the second one took about three hours.

I know it's been a while. I'm sorry! But now that's it's warming up in the garage, we can get back to work on Higgins.
Mud and tape day for the Garage Mahal bathroom
Просмотров 392 месяца назад
I’d show you muddying and taping video, but my process is already so slow even without doing a video and I’m horrible at it. This is my first sheet rock job so like what I always say: when you don’t get what you want, you get experience. And I’m getting experience on this gig.
Transparency is NOT a desired trait of bathroom walls!

When I sent photos of the framed out bathroom to my daughter, she asked if I was gonna make the walls a little less see-through. To which I replied “Everybody wants transparency these days.” 😂
Higgins gets a bumper! Just one though.🙁

What started out as a video on installing the easier of the two rear bumperettes turns in to a bigger deal since the body and chassis holes don't line up.

I like that! Drive him around. Gotta keep em moving . Nothing like cruising in your classic whenever you want to. Panels came out great!
Looking very, very good.
So familiar to any gear head. Start one project and end up doing two more to finish the one. I just did that on my 54. Hang in there. Higgins is coming along fine.
Exactly!
Thames 800 was a British van so probably came from Canada
That wind is killing the show
I tried turning it down during editing, but then all the audio was gone.
Hey man thank you for let me see your video of the car I will try to find my way up there
No problem 👍
Yes the yellow car is 1954 or 55 Nash metropolitan
I would've watched this if you didn't move the camera like an idiot
1956fordsedans any?
The Colony Park wagon is a Mercury and looks like a 1967, I had a 1965 Commuter wagon which was 1 level below the Colony Park.
21:04 ford cortina and Renault Dauphine ...22:52 23:03 and23:37 all English fords
its stainless steel trim on the cars ,it last for ever in that Climate , chrome will rust off faster, good rust free body panels ones that did not sit on the dirt to bad lot of the glass is broken
nice rust free cars
I didn't see any Oldsmobiles.
😂That Rambler Cross Country wagon aboutva 61 would be a good candidate for a hotrod long roof. Drop a V8, an OD Auto tranny, AC rewire it and you hsve a unibody interstate cruiser.
better than dysneyland, yeh, you lose your ass there...

No way am I getting rid of Big Boy for that rust bucket!!! 😂😂😂
😂
Why does People open the doors and then they dont close them, when they leave????!!!
That was the request of the front office when we checked in: if we open a door, hood or truck, please close it when we are done.
That IH Travelette is worth saving. Super rare. The 60’s model Thunderbird you walked past at 27:00 probably had the tilt away steering, normally standard on them.
The swing away steering was more popular on the T-birds than the Galaxie. And the turn signal parts were different between the two.
@@50lbbrain That I know, grew up around Thunderbirds and Galaxies.
@@jeffreypinder9398 I finally found an NOS turn signal cam assembly for my swing away Galaxie on eBay. My TS cam was broken so the turn signals wouldn't self cancel anymore. And the cams are different between Swing Away and a fixed steering column. I just wanted to see how rare the swing away steering is on the galaxie. And apparently very rare.
I'm not going to complain about your camera skills. I seen a couple other comments. You can buy car guy with the best camera skills and be looking at something like this and just go ape anyway! I know I would. Thanks for going out there to film and share this with us
Thanks for that!
@@50lbbrain I think it would be a blast to walk through this yard. I would buy one or two but I'd want to fill up 15 car haulers
@@CAROLDDISCOVER-FINDER2525 Don't think Dave or I didn't want to.
@@50lbbrain I believe you. There's a couple cars in there that would compliment or go with a couple I've already got. We'll see how it works out.
@@50lbbrain 1965 ford cortina. rare..1600 kent block, used in racing..
Yes there's a lot of cars there
Wow, so much cool stuff, and it looked mostly rust free and restorable too. Amaze!
Yes it was!
15:00 far right looks like a 63 impala! I had one just like it. Dragged it out of the bush in 99, tore it apart then gave up on it.
So what happened to your 63? The baby blue with the messed up roof was a 61. Medium blue that was darker and it was a 62. I'm glad I saw your comment went back and look cuz I could use a fender for a 61
@@CAROLDDISCOVER-FINDER2525 sold it after I tore it apart. Was still living at home and wanted to get away from a toxic parent. Regret selling it cuz of how much they're going for now!
@@grabasandwich yeah I'm a big fan of 1963 Chevy cars. Especially the Biscayne Impalas and Bel airs. I know there's some at. Sorry to hear about you need to get away from toxic parents that has to be rough. I'll share with you the information if you seriously are interested. Builders all the way through really nice like a hundred k. There's a four-door hardtop. If memory serves me correct he wants 1800 for it. But there's a lot of these cars scattered around the countryside. And if you like the 6162 63 and 64 and it doesn't matter whether you can get one pretty cheap relatively speaking. See I got a couple of 1963 ragtops. I've had him in the barn for very long time. I've got one that guy wants to buy and it started out to be my emergency Parts car. If I ever needed it. 12500 and it's a builder. I can check ✔️. There's a guy that has two Biscayne four doors 1963. I know there's some Station wagons at also. And I know where there's a two-door hardtop 1964 it's picked clean from being in the salvage yard but you got what you need to start with. And you can get it for I think 1200 bucks. I'll leave it at that. if you're in the market let me know and I'll give you some information no strings attached.
Dude, you need to work on your camera skills.
You are correct. Sorry.
@@50lbbrain No worries. Trying to ad something positive.
Man, please slow your camera down! Makin us dizzy going back & forth so fast!
Yeah I apologize for that. I didn't realize how fast I was moving my phone around until I was editing the video.
Console is German Ford
Cortina is German and British Ford
59-61 Renault
Country squire model has wood decal trim. Colony park is a mercury version of country squire. Country sedens only has side chrome spears and the ranch wagon is bottom rung base model and is usually a 2 door wagon
Thanks for clarifying. Those guys need to learn the makes and models to improve accuracy.
Looks like a fun day - not many British cars !
No there were not. Honestly, I didn't expect many.
Light blue
Good to see how to install rear bumper without scrapping up knuckles. 😅
Glad I could be of assistance.
Looks good !
Thank you.
HI 50lbbrain I rebuilt the rear axle but I have an end play on the pinion flange ,(it seem you don't have on your video) apparently there are different bearings( preload bearing) with different thickness ref MOSS 100422 , did you change it ?did you have this problem? original timken ref bearing is 15100SR , thank you for sharing
I personally love the yellow color. I thought that the position of the front over riders where you first had them hanging looked great. I was also thinking that the brackets you were trying to use might fit a wide mouth model.
I agree,those brackets are from a wide mouth TR3A
So right, junkyards are the best time. I have found new parts on cars before. Love your adventures Mr. Brain😀
Thanks 👍
Thats cool. Ty
So, are you going to put any door rubber on the doors?
Honestly, I don't know anything about the door seals or where they go. So I'm not sure yet. And I may have a fitment issue.
Looking good !
Love to see how an expert troubleshoots things. I learn a lot from watching you. Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words.
Finally Misses O make an appearance! Nicely done project Shane!
Thank you sir.
I am SO SORRY about the audio quality. The camera I used for most of the video is total crap. I will use either the GoPro or my iPhone from now on.
no more video??
Work and shop construction has kept me task saturated. I just posted a video on a different subject.
A non locking or even closing door for a bathroom? Help me understand this.
Besides being a non-public bathroom, it’s also the emergency eye wash and emergency shower. I will put a slide lock on the door when I finish the walls.
That's what completes a garage. Keeps you from collecting those empty Powerade and Gatorade bottles and such.
Mine's a '59 TR3A and several years ago I took the fuel tank to a radiator shop to be 'boiled' out....The entire bottom was very porous, so after cleaning, we cut it off and replaced bad metal with new....Then the radiator shop sealed the inside with their proprietary sealant....I have had no issues since, and the car has sat in my shop(due to my health issues) while the gas went stale and ugly....I did drain it 2 years ago and fired it up with fresh gas...I'm going to install a permanent drain by the fuel pump/Ewarts valve so it can sit bone dry and no ethanol can damage pump or carb parts........I've had the car 54 years this coming spring, so learned a lot of lessons, lol .....Our premium fuel has no Ethanol, so I'll be going that route, a few cents more but far less issues................John (west coast, Can.)
