@@system11yt try a a voltage regulator, adding a potentiometer on the output side of the board, dial it down little by little and see if you get the same result. Or use a TRIAC. Or... You need to troubleshoot some components, with a oscilloscope or multimeter. I suspect a bad resistor.

Bugs? It might not play properly on one of the chips. I have a really wonderful sounding R2 but I'm too scared to actually use it!

i no longer own the account unfortunately. Mast was 10-7-10, sw was 10-8-10 with triple atk overload, privaty skill 1 at 10, maxwell skill 1 at 10, miranda was 7-4-7 or 7-4-8. You have to hit the train in that EXACT spot as it hits all 3 turrets and the train itself for up to 4x critical hits, note how i use the headlamp at the front of it to line up the shot and allow it to move into place. It's the combined mass of critical damage and a high critical rate from mast -> BOOM.

Yes we were allowed to meet them when they were little yellow balls that looked more like ducklings too :) Geese get a bad reputation but they're actually quite balanced approachable creatures once they decide you're safe.

I know the feeling - arcades are dead here. Luckily I've been a collector for a long time so I was able to sell some PCBs to pay for buying a system and some games. There are SNES and Megadrive games now costing as much as buying a new Aka & Blue cart, to put it in perspective.

@@system11yt True but those SNES and Megadrive games I can play through various options (be it emulation or buying them on modern consoles etc.) which morally I can justify to myself since the creators are no longer financially benefitting from them neither, if I were to emulate. In this case though I'm looking at what appears to be one of the best shmups released in the past decade (specifically version type-r) but there is no other way to play it except on mobile (but that's so different imo). In the case of SDOJ I can pick up the 360 version (with all its flaws, but it's there) but for this game it seems like it'll stay exclusive forever. It makes me very sad, honestly. I do wonder ihow this platform is doing financially though, because I don't think it'll work outside of Japan neither. Most western arcades don't focus on the games the platform is offering, mostly going for nostalgia and pulling an audience that gets all warm and fuzzy over pac-man and maybeeee a little metal slug, but definitely no CAVE shmups haha Unfortunately I cannot (and actually, will not even if I could) spend 5k on hardware and a single game. I don't have any PCBs to sell, that might've made a difference :) So I'm left wondering who is this Exa platform for, really? Now don't get me wrong this isn't FOMO in general, because almost all games on there are playable on other platforms. But Aka and Blue type-R is truly exclusive, which I guess does result in FOMO on my end lol

Awesome shmup,hard as hell!as for the exclusivity it’s not actually down to exa. TANOSHIMASU requested that it never has a port and remains a arcade exclusive this was the main condition TANOSHIMASU requested before making type R.

@@shmuproom1293 Well I suppose there is always room for them to make another version to release on consoles/pc, as long as it doesn't contain the relevant exa content. For now, I'll stick with games I can actually play for less than 2500 euro (+ 3000 for the hardware) :-)

@@WarlikeSRK It is a misconception arcades are dead outside of Japan. There are more arcades in USA by 5-6 times over Japan and no other arcade company is making these traditional type of games now so there is big demand from outside of Japan. No other Japanese company sold traditional arcade games outside of Asia for over the last 10 years so there was no chance for Western arcades to try to buy these type of games. No Cave CV1000 game was sold outside of Asia. 99.9% of Western arcade owners never had the chance to buy them when it was new. In the last Japanese interview, Exa said they already sold thousands of games throughout the world so I think they are doing fine. Exa is for businesses not individuals. They make games to sell to the arcade market. Cave and Raizing did the same thing when they made the best shmups in 90s and 00s. Is it FOMO when all of these arcade game companies only made games for the arcade market? Konami, Bandai Namco, Sega, Raw Thrills, these companies all still make arcade market only games. Because Exa makes exclusive games, you are interested. This is same as Mario and Zelda for Nintendo. Do you ask when Mario and Zelda will come to Xbox?

You know I'd never noticed before in all this time (almost since release, 1000+ hours)! Just goes to show there's always something new to find out. I did try travelling to logically the exact opposite side of the planet and over there it was just following a normal cycle, is there a way to locate the second one once you've found the first?

@@system11yt it is on the outside side. I think most people get this wrong, so I just say it in case it's what you were doing. When you do opposite for east/west it isn't just the negative of ehere you are you need to add or subtract 180 for example if you are at +60/-20 the opposite side is -60/+160. I actually have a tutorial on how find the poles (the true poles like where your sundial is, not where you follow the compass). If you want I can DM you a link in discord since that's good I found your sundial. I enjoy a good sundial! I have two different ones myself.

I can definitely tell the difference, the r4ar sounds closest to the 8580 compared to earlier ones. R3 all seem quite harsh sounding, the nicest 6581 I have is a R1 (or 2, the rev isn't stamped) in a very old breadbin. I don't use it because I don't want it to fail...... I have loads of r4ar machines, about 5 plus spare loose chips.

Yes it's a real PCB - I'd just repaired it for someone and needed to give it a proper test. Interesting note this game exists in two versions, the original (which this board is) and a later one which changed some music for copyright reasons I think, but also hard capped the game to 30fps instead of "mostly 60 with stutter and slowdown". The 60 feels much better to play, strange decision - purely a code change.

@@system11yt To my understanding, the hz is slightly off spec on the Taito F3 which makes getting a solid capture a headache. I know the Gonbes GBS-8200 stabilizes the VGA signal for capture too. That's a really cheap option, fyi.

When you paid more than 1,000 euros from ngdev after years of delays, waiting after preorders for a said 'collectors edition' and you get what i got as a consumer and gamer, YES i do have the right to tell my honest and frank opinion : The game itself is poor, looks unfinished and not fun to play at all. Replayability = 0. Objectively the collectors edition is : the regular version + a certificate card + a set of stickers. For around 300 euros more expensive if my memory is correct. This product is a total rip off and deserves its space on your shelf next to your ashita no joe, if you re a gamer. Personally, i would have prefered a full refund for returning them that crap. What a shame to offer such a pity product in such unacceptable conditions.
