The Tor with year-round admission charges and premium rates for the equinox. Designated footpaths, 'improvements', security staff, cameras everywhere. That's the future under World Heritage Status. Great work, God willing the plan will be rejected.

The Glastonbury festival is mainly attended by White middle class young people as there is ZERO attendance from the average young people from poor council estates in the London area. Glastonbury is excellent in terms the low crime rate though. I love the town of Glastonbury. But for me the festival has lost its credibility because there are very few REAL bands playing there. A band is formed of musicians that play musical instruments. Glastonbury does NOT have much of that anymore. I think its important to seperate the festival from the actual town. Jo Brand seems to be reading from a script here. She should have just written bullet points down and improvised. I would advise her to stick to performing stand up instead of trying to become a social campaign manager. She was hilarious on "have i got news for you". At least she has lost weight though.

Nice one Amanda. Well said and thanks for explaining to people that the Festival is at Pilton, not in the town itself. To me, Glastonbury is either a place that you are drawn to or it draws you to it. It's a very special place. The Tor, the Abbey, the Chalice Well and the surrounds of the ancient Isle of Avalon aren't something to be promoted: the environment and culture there is something to be experienced in an individual way. In my opinion, world heritage status would destroy the uniqueness and subtlety of the culture and the special nature of the place. 🥰

Excellent, well done. World Heritage status does have many drawbacks, here are a few that a Spanish town discovered: 1. An increase in population, visitors and tourists. Sometimes, during weekends and holidays, there is an overwhelming load in the city both with people and vehicles. 2. Potential for neglect of the cultural-historical traditions, and natural environment. Often this results in more complex bureaucracies, which do not always bring better quality in demographic and social areas. 3. For visitors, tourists, and even for the local residents what was an exceptional heritage can become quotidian, and common. 4. Loss of identity and sense of belonging by the local residents. 5. The mass arrival of visitors and tourists has the potential of causing deterioration of the heritage site, decrease of its conservation, and restoration.
