I've come to love Spotify recommendations. This was one of them after listening to Radical Face 'Ghost Town'. Another great band. I was into rock music but like most genre. I finding myself listening to rock less as I get older and I enjoy softer tones now. Ps my fave band of all time is The Levellers. They're a folk/punk band I would say. I have been a fan since my early teens.

I love Manchester Orchestra ever since I heard shake it out, but this is there masterpiece. I hear it and think of the relationship I have with my wife. I'm difficult to live with. I was abused as a kid, physically and sexually by my Dad and my uncle. I've always struggled with other people but when I met my wife I found someone who I clicked with. She made me feel worth something. Her family don't like me, 21 years together and they still don't like me. Her Dad doesn't speak to me, her Mum has told me multiple times I'm not good enough for her, her sister has despised me since day one and her husband speaks to me like I'm shit on his shoe "Mr can do no wrong police officer". I've never felt good enough and they make me feel even worse. She can do better than me I know she can. It's a cross I have to carry. I can't let her go it'll kill me but I know how hard I make things for her. This song just covers that for me.

I don’t understand the line “give ya my heart in spite of my soul”. Why give anyone anything if the soul isn’t in it ? That’s short changing them? Maybe hold on to it , or give it later …

Good song but I don’t get the line “gonna give ya my heart in spite of my soul” - sounds to me like giving anything (to anyone) without their soul in it, is short changing them.

How fecking loud is the silence tho??

This song has been on my radar for 2 years (introduced by a girl i had a fling with....but thats another story). In that time i had to turn around and rebuild my entire life. And its lead me to some dark places and powerful realization about abuse and how abusive tendencies run in my family. That line "little girl you are cursed by my ancestry" smacked me in the face and i realized that i can't continue that attitude in my new life. Despite how much ive healed, i have more to go...and i keep a lot more of my thoughts to myself.

One of my favourite songs of all time let alone QOTSA songs. Greatest band that has ever hit my ears.
