    Not sure if you'll see this in time, but I start my Virtual Seminars for Lvl 1 tomorrow! I have a good amount of the pre-seminar work finished, but in the PDF's of the book, I've recently noticed there are "hidden" or non downloadable pre-seminar activities. Do I need to scrub the entire Lvl 1 book tonight and cram out these activities? I think I'm just overall stressed about this experience, but I don't want to look unprepared when I go into it. Will I receive a "completion grade" or a grade of any kinda during these seminars? Any info would be appreciated!

    I had a 65 question test. 3 questions were on rules. 1 was on “history” (by that I mean the one question was who does the USA play in the Ryder Cup) the remaining 61 questions were on the constitution. Needless to say I didn’t pass. We’re you given an actual study guide on all of the committees and who runs them or were you just as in the dark as me. I feel like the “qualifying” should be knowing history and goals along with rules. Memorizing the whole constitution seems like a very unreasonable thing. Even if I got 60% of the questions right I still would have failed because I had only 4 questions regarding anything beside the constitution

    • @backinthefairway5771
      @backinthefairway5771 2 года назад

      Unless they drastically changed things, you had a much different qualifying test than anyone else I know. The test that I took was 75 questions, only 70 of which were graded. It was pretty evenly split, but then again, the PGA has done some far different programs than when I got started two years ago. There is no official study guide for the test. You purchase the books (PDFs) from the PGA prior to taking your test. All the answers are in those, but weeding through them can take some effort. The other issue you have (at least I did) was a presidential change, which changed the answers to a few questions, but I navigated those carefully and managed to make my way through it all. All I can say is keep at it and you'll hopefully have a slightly easier experience next time. Good luck!

    Looking at Sub 70 irons/wedges currently. Great video! Was Rep in the industry when I was mid 20s to early 30s. Came to KC for Callaway. Also had my own brand for a couple of years after that, but sold it. So I have experience with the biggest brands as well as component and DTC sales model. Worked with designer and production house in China. So pretty familiar with all facets. As a side note, haven’t played in about 15 years, so in process of building a new set and playing again - now that my kids are older and I’m “senior” eligible as an amateur. Anyway, now more than ever - I’d say the advantage a tour brand has is almost purely marketing. Patents rarely exist in clubs any longer - so far as I can tell. There are so many experienced designers, not to mention the foundries - and the limitations set by the ruling bodies - it’s pretty tough to do anything THAT spectacular and not have it be something smaller brands can do. So tour played brands = more available at retailers, and the psychological “comfort” that comes from playing a recognized brand. Beyond that, they are just more expensive. But to each their own… I’ve learned over the years that everyone has their own way of thinking about it, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

    Hi Ron. I played collegiate golf and am looking to do something with golf "for fun." I'm thinking teaching just putting ie, Putting Coach. I don't want to go through the process you are going through (time and money). My brother is a PGA Pro and he said it's a lot of tedious work and travel. Do you have any recommendation so that I can become "certified"??? Thanks!

    • @backinthefairway5771
      @backinthefairway5771 3 года назад

      So, two part answer here, and you may or may not like them. First, there are a few coaching systems out there that will offer a few letters to put after your name. They all teach the basics of swing mechanics and range from around $100 for the printable certificate to nearly $10k like the PGA program. The difference is if you are going to make a career of it, the reach of the PGA is much greater, which means more opportunities. If you're doing it as a side gig, I'm not even sure I'd really look much further than building a roster of clients as a generic golf instructor. Have some cards made up, make a scheduling website and get a client base built. But... Here is something most amateur golfers do not know... The moment you accept money or payment for a golf lesson, you forfeit your amateur status. I would seriously think through that completely before making that jump. An alternative path that I would highly suggest is finding local high school teams that need coaches or assistant coaches and jump on with that. You can teach an entire new generation the game and help local schools as well. Thanks for watching and sorry for not posting back sooner!

    Thanks for making these videos! Quick question on the very beginning of my journey… PGA website has the qualifying test as the first step but you have the PAT as your first step. Would you recommend buying the courses first and taking the PAT before scheduling the Q test?

      Definitely pass the PAT or at least post a qualifying score before taking the qualifying test. I did it backwards and almost had to retake the Qualifier due to the time limits.

    this is a fulfilling business to work in and i will never be stuck in an office for the whole day. I can live anywhere- aka not a city, you make the same money as a gas station attendant but you dont tell girls you work at a gas station :)

      While I can definitely see where you're going on this one, my daily income during the summer months is far better than any gas station pays. If you get out and hustle for lesson clients, you can really do very well during the season. Of course keeping that momentum in the off season will take some extra effort, but finding ways to expand your teaching is what the PGA is all about.

    Love this! Thank you. Have loved this game for a long time but deciding to start moving in this direction later in life has been a challenge.
