Just a thought??? Maybe keep more downward pressure on the REAR of your Base Plate, since downward force is naturally kept at the cutting side due to tool pressure???

Very cool! I'm thinkin' of trying this on my SIEG 14" Mini Lathe (With it's apron removed) but i've got to get around the "V" in the bed! Mamby mount a plate on top of the bed, and incorporate the "under the spindle" template holder as well! Bravo. I've been trying to think of a QUICK and EASY set-up for turning Sitar Tapered pegs, and I think, (thanx to you), I've just found it!!! Gb g

I've watched all of you videos and this tool seems to be something I may be interested in buying. My only concern is that I want to duplicate chess pieces(mainly the pawns) and it doesn't seem like this tool will turn smaller pieces due to the width of the tool post base. The only way I can see this working for making small pieces is to use a much longer piece of wood which lends to a lot of waste. Have you turned shorter pieces of wood with your duplicator? Thanks Tom

I'm new to turning. Everything I've seen says to not go uphill, go toward the center. Would I get a better finish and less tearout from your tool if I were to follow that rather than just going straight across as you're doing?
