Hello and welcome to the channel. Today I will introduce you to my theater space. We take a look at the current speakers and electronics used in our project room. This is the channel’s inaugural upload, so please enjoy and stay tuned.
Cool setup 👍 I have a similar setup, I have a 85" Sony 4k tv and a 120" motorized screen. Have you thought about replacing your screen with a 98"-100" tv?
@@retroforce6919 Thanks I probably won’t go to a large TV for 2 reasons. 1. Wife was like “ain’t no way, I want to see a bigger black rectangle on the wall when everything is off”😂 2. I like the look and feel of a projected image. 🤷🏾♂️

You completely forgot about the center channel and the Right and Left speakers 😂😂 the most important speakers in a home theater setup
@@Lobo243 yeah, first video. It somehow got edited out. 😂 I did make a video showcasing the front stage later that day. ruclips.net/video/I7vpqpVeKzc/видео.htmlsi=rT-pwTcTuxUHrclj
@GeniusHomeTheater Nice 👌
@@Lobo243 Thanks. 👍🏾
You explained all that and didn’t turn it on to let us see and hear🤔
@@newjack1982 yeah, the problem is sound doesn’t translate on RUclips. It’s not the greatest system, but I’m confident it’s no slouch either. 😂
Good informative video, thanks bro!
@@josephreynolds4962 you’re welcome and Thank you. 💪🏾
love the space and how you used those architectural speakers with the angled baffel to get what looks like perfect placement.

Ground loops: When devices are plugged into different phases in your electrical panel, slight voltage differences between them can create a current flow through the ground wire, generating a audible hum through your speakers, particularly in sensitive equipment like subwoofers. So it's advisable to keep your dedicated circuit on the same phase. Also, using a high quality shielded subwoofer cable will usually help with hum as well. I typically try to keep ground loop isolators as a last resort.
@@SeanSeebran Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the subject. Yes the isolator were a last resort for me being I didn’t feel comfortable using the ground lifting adapter. I have 23 other devices sharing the same circuit as the subs (including 4external amps) on a 15 amp circuit. Moving the subs to other circuits came with some challenges but luckily there are devices to help overcome them. Thanks again. 💪🏾
Personally I will be going with a 98-110 inch TV as I don’t like projectors in general. I find the light and color to be hard for the eyes plus the added cost. But I also am fine with the limits of a tv
@@TheAsjdj understandable. 👍🏾

@@YOKOOL66 Thank you!
Thank you sir! Can you program it to turn on the system and go to Prime or Netflix?
@@deanshauers5665 I’m not sure. I have the remote setup to run the fire stick but haven’t examined the button layout in the X1S, for the Fire Stick. The fire stick remote doesn’t have a Netflix or Prime button like the fireTV remote used for my bedroom Tv. I bet if there was a way to program the “Netflix” button, it would be possible. I try to find out more over the weekend. 👍🏾
@ Thanks again, your information was very helpful. Take care!
I have the X1S and am amazed at it functionality an option, but I have one big problem. As long as ONLY the Sofabaton is used all works fine. If say the remote for the Samsung TV is used to power off the TV (usually by my wife) then the Sofabaton is confused and none of the startup sequences will work properly.as the Samsung TV remote has only a Power button that turns on and off the TV. The Sofabaton is not smart enough to know what state the TV is in. I have contacted support and they made suggestions, but none have worked. So be aware of this issue.
@@eeg0323 Yes, yes, yes, this is correct. It does not recognize activity state. My Harmony Elite however does, even if Alexa starts the activity, the harmony remote knows the state. This could be because Harmony and Alexa are incorporated. This is why I stated that it would be nice to have Alexa connectivity. There are a few more quirks AND pluses with this remote that just couldn’t make the video. I was already weary that it was too long. Thank you for adding your insight, it’s much appreciated. 💪🏾
The X1S does have Alexa connectivity You have to enable the SofaBaton skill and the the activities are under “Scenes”. Still doesn’t fix the power issue.
@ I stand corrected. I do see SofaBaton if I search skills. Strange that it doesn’t show in the devices list as a hub as the harmony hub does. Nevertheless the remote not knowing the state of the devices is a problem. Thank you for the info.
@@GeniusHomeTheater This is the response I got from Sofabot regarding the XS1 being changed to recognize the power state: "So far seems this will not be taken into consideration based on the internal info." So does not look like this will ever be resolved.
Big space. I would do a svs ultra center
@@PIPERBOYWILLIAMS I wish it had bigger drivers but it is same series as the fronts, so timbre match is good. I did request it to be made 1 inch shorter to prevent blocking the screen. Dimensions are 9.5x20. 👍🏾
@ svs ultra center matches with most setups. Timbre matching is what people use to sell you on the same series. Center channel is the most important speakers. The left and right are effects channels. I go to audio advise lives and have a few setups in my house. Trust me. You need bigger drivers in that space. That center is a bottleneck.
@ only time I wouldn’t recommend a SVS ULTRA CENTER is if you had kef speakers.
@ I also have a cinema 50 in the living room , Denon 3800 in another room and a Rz50 in another room. My main theater I have an Anthem. My advise is drop the Marantz and go anthem. Nothing else compares until you get to Storm Audio or trinov. Marantz doesn’t cut it for theater. Order one and try it for 30 days. You won’t regret it. But ditch the center.
@ thanks for the recommendations. 👍🏾
I’m sorry to say. I think the idea or the concept is nice. But the set up is tacky and it’s gross and it’s pissing me off. Right when I saw this, I knew a black guy must’ve done this. Get rid of the shitty leather couches the horrible color carpet basically just redo the whole set up and for God sake’s get rid of the projector hanging down in the living room. It is gross.
Nice setup! This is good example that you can build a nice home theater system in an open concept living room.

I need that! I also need one of those IsoMax transformers, I'm getting a nasty hum from one of my subwoofers that disappears when I use the cheater plug. I was tempted to install a GFCI outlet and continue using the cheater plug, but I don't think it's worth the hassle or the risk.
@@NameUnavailable123 yeah the cheaters are very inexpensive. Sorry I can’t say the same for the hum isolator, but the piece of mind is priceless. Good luck!👍🏾

Holy crap, I love your videos. Pump content out for a while and you'll be big in this space imo. Your version of a home theater is the classiest thing I've ever seen in this hobby. Your setup is way more inviting that a dedicated theater room, and the aesthetics of your theater-living room is actually better than an ordinary living room! Good job man!
Man, those are some great words! Thank you for the encouragement, it is much appreciated. 🙏🏾
I really like how you've utilised that space. Great setup. The only thing I'd consider changing given you have a horizontal centre channel anyway is to switch to a high end UST with 120" (or bigger is apparently coming soon) floor rising screen so it can sit under your windows when not in use but give you a bigger screen when it is.
@@paulc5389 Thank you. And yes, you never know where changes in technology will take you in this hobby. This room has evolved over the last fifteen years, and I’ll probably change with new future technology too.
Wow, nice! Did you get all that wiring done before the drywall went up?
@@BobFrostV I braced the ceiling for the projector during construction. I also ran wire to four of the six in-ceiling speakers at that time. Everything else has been done by me, post construction.
Very nice speaker integration into a difficult space. The room and setup looks great!

I've been running wires for 30 years and I would never ever run wires under someone's carpet.
@@yzrunner If you can, please describe any flaws you find with my method. I believe it’s bulletproof. Have you seen the full video? I will add that better methods are always welcome on this channel.
@GeniusHomeTheater I have seen fires start by cables being destroyed under carpets. I have seen it in homes and cars. It is definitely not allowed by code and would not pass an inspection. I have replaced many satin cables from being stepped on or rolled over. I also wouldn't want to step on that area of the carpet because there is no way to hide them. Run the cables properly or go wireless.
@@yzrunner i appreciate your expertise. As with any speaker to amplifier connection, (whether wiring in-wall, in-ceiling, laying on top or carpet, or under carpeting) the hazard remains the same. However, we all rely on the circuit protection built into the amplifier for circuit protection. If a wiring short or other fault were to occur, the amplifier is designed to protect itself and the wiring. I agree using the best practice available is best. Thanks. 👍🏾
@GeniusHomeTheater there are codes for a reason. I guarantee my cables for a lifetime because there is no chance it will get damaged by something as stupid as being laid under a carpet. I sleep better at night knowing I am not putting someone's life at risk. It's kinda like using riser cable in a plenum environment. Those cables will deteriorate over time and can 100% cause a fire with the dust and dirt that comes through the carpet. Then what happens to the cables when they replace the carpet? I'd recommend learning to do it the right way or up your business insurance.
Saw the first video of your set up about an hour ago. Very impressed. I would think any other half would be very happy with how clean your room looks, and I don't mean free from dust. We can tell you took your time and it shows. Well done ( subbed on the first one )
@@rickadams9 Thank you for the sub, and of course the compliments.
Wow! So cool man. Very nice to see a HT that is in a living room space. I enjoy seeing how people can reach their goals while being ok to concede to compromise given the area.
