    Just my opinion, but you're far better off with the landing lights OFF during the approach. This enables you to pick up the approach lighting system sooner. And, get your eyes adjusted to the depth in front of you and helps you quickly make sense of what you're looking at. The guy not flying then flips the lights on once you have good visual contact. But, to each their own.

    Please tell me that this is fake... They don't actually do this, right? I am freaking out thinking that this is how we land at night or in fog. Maybe it is my "girl brain" but I am actually shaking thinking that this is real. Why are they not screaming as they are about to crash into anything - mountains, trees, buildings what the hell.. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS and why is this even allowed. They just gambled away the lives of everyone on the plane. This is a computer video or something??

    definitely not cat 3 mins. Could see approach lights at 200 feet. Cat 1 approach you can continue approach to 100 feet if you see the approach lights at 200 feet then at 100 feet need to see runway or red sidebar lights on the approach light system. Actual cat 3 mins you see nothing until just before touchdown. I've done a few cat 3 with 75 meters of visibility. There is no DH. Just need the visibility.

    I´ve had that experience on 16th of dec 2022 on flight EW 9558, TFS to DUS, arriving at 5:20 p.m. The captain told to passengers already 1 hour before landing about a difficult landing because of extreme bad weather situation in DUS. My seat in A320 was Window 9A. 2 minutes before landing the aircraft was diving into the clouds - I could see landinglights exactly in the moment the aircraft touched the ground - for me amazing. Reducing of speed was normal. At all moments of this approach I felt safe. Thank You to the very good crew!

    1:40 is that the sound when the autopilot disconnect?

    • @unr3alGaming
      @unr3alGaming 2 месяца назад

      Yes, they probably did an auto land considering how bad the weather conditions were and they are probably still required to disconnect it after landing, unless the plane does it itself. I don't know enough about the Airbus auto land system and looking at this on my phone, it's hard to tell since it's dark and low resolution.

    I think the landing lights should have been kept off for the pilots to be able to see any reference on ground before Decision Height. With the lights on, it is all the more difficult to spot for any irregularities in visual reference. After having confirmed any runway lights / approach / papi / airport lights, they could turn on landing lights. And hats off to the ils and autoland technology and of course the skills of these braveheart brainy pilots.

    not even sure why they need pilots, they only fly on takeoff and when they're landing. pilots spend their flight monitoring systems, turning dials for air speed, heading and checking in with various air traffic controllers. a computer can do all of that and more. i would have no problem flying in a plane that was flown by a computer.

    • @shenzhong2942
      @shenzhong2942 6 лет назад

      boombapboom The pilots operate the computer when they can't fly, but when they can fly they do. A computer has no clue what to do in an emergency and in addition they're subject to glitches and instrument malfunctions. Think about this: if one instrument on the airplane goes out, or one line of code is wrong, several hundred, maybe thousand people die.

    why not using strong green laser beam? its perfect trough fog

    • @dimbulb23
      @dimbulb23 9 лет назад

      Termigator A laser beam is a.... well.... a beam... a narrow beam... meaning you can only see it if it penetrated the fog and shines in your eyes. You wouldn't be able to see if from the side, over or under. Meaning you would already have to be on the perfect path to see it. So how exactly do you get on the perfect path in the first place? And if can manage to get on the perfect glide path without the beam; why do you need the freeking beam at all?
