There should be no restriction on the installer in order to get the heat pump tax credit. Homeowners should be able to DIY it and still get the credit. And solar thermal should get credit too, it uses no energy at all (or a little for muffin fans).

This is a situation where picking the lowest bid may not be the best choice. RBO is nearly 4.5 million lower than the next lowest bid for 2E. The remaining 4 were close in numbers. Something seems a little off with their bid. Our may certainly add "extra's" during construction to make up for the difference which will bring them more in line with the other bids. We'll see

Unfortunately, that leak detector would not have helped these particular people because it only detects leaks downstream of where it is installed. Additionally, if you install one of those devices, your homeowners insurance will give you a discount. You can also see Dan's frustration with these 2 women bause it's obvious they don't really know what is going on or how things work.

Love the band. Curious why uniforms are red when Harwich colors have been Blue and White or Yellow and blue. Ask any former Rough Rider or Monomoy grad.

I would assume that Tom Birch was adamant about not regulating private wells. He was one of the people that was not doing the right thing. During last summer's water restriction, everyone who was doing the right thing had a burnt lawn. But if you drove by Tom's building on Queen Anne, his lawn was incredibly green and lush, and he made sure to have a sign stating that the water was from a private well. I seriously think the chair is feeling pressure from Tom and that's why he is changing his position.

With regards to the first discussion. I have been in the septic/sewer & water business for 35+years and I can tell you with 100% certainty that Our should NEVER had installed the sewer without having the permit and they KNOW THAT!! That is on them completely. With regards to the design of the new sewer being within 10' of the water service, that falls 100% on the design engineer. They should have never designed it that way and they know that so the cost of the error should be on both the design engineer as well as the installer, both of whom knew completely that the install should never have been done. The homeowner is completely innocent In this situation because he did everything right by hiring who he thought were professionals but obviously they are not.

There is no climate crisis. The Earth was warmer in the recent and distant past. It also warmed faster in the past.

Our cultural center. is considering reusing and rehabbing this old building . . Almost always wise to hire a professional for best results and clarity. Brewster. just hired such an expert.It is the way to go. That is their life's work and expertise supported by education.i do not think the BOS and town administrator have that expertise but will benefit from such . What are we so afraid of that we can;t use professional services. why does it seem this is being pushed at us .. Without this and a plan and architectural drawings we could become wasteful and wasting time and money more of a"Winchester House" . And by the way every historic rehab and repurpose we have ever tried has always demanded a business plan an architectural renderings and way to fund. this is being pushed on us without enough of a plan we can trust.

Maybe the solution to Mr. Howell's housing concern is zoning with a sprinkle of taxation and waste water. Accessory dwelling units should be allowed in residential, industrial and commercial properties as a right. The zoning definition of the ADU should be for workers/year round residents and shall not be vacation rentals. The term of rental has to be annual not weekly or monthly. Trying to build large affordable projects is so difficult could we use the existing housing stock, commercial buildings and industrial buildings. Perhaps grants could be made available for any upgrade of septic to build the ADU. Perhaps allow it in a district and see if it works.
