Metal Overlord has been my favorite final boss in every Sonic game I've ever played, I first heard this when I was like 8 or 9 and I always loved Metal Sonic as a kid, even renting the OVA from blockbuster WAY too many times to count. I always loved the idea of a robotic, evil doppleganger of the main hero who can rival and even in some cases outclass the main hero's abilities. In other words the OVA made me aware of who Metal Sonic was (I didn't play Sonic CD until I got Gems Collection on Gamecube so the OVA was my introduction to Metal Sonic) and he's been one of, if not my favorite Sonic character.
Good music. The team blast ruins it though. (Almost as bad as open your heart getting replaced by the chaos phase 2 theme in the final boss for Sonic Adventure)
