Never Thought I'd Buy This Item!

If there's one thing I thought I'd never buy for homeschooling, this is definitely it! I had other homeschooling mom friends who swore by this item and I always thought it was unnecessary and a waste of money. Well recently I had an idea of a great way to get good use for this thing. It's actually not even for homeschool, though I'm sure I'll occasionally use if for that. #homeschoolingmom #hom...

Our '24-'25 Homeschool Curriculum has Arrived
How’s the languages going for the older ones? Looking at getting the year 9 one next year (in Australia our year starts in January)
@@PetaBruce-o2p I think I it’s going really well. I like that there’s vocabulary every week and Pilgrim’s Progress is such a great Christian Classic that I am happy my son is going through it with that Language Arts. It also is good at discussing what an allegory is and the different ways comparisons are used. Like learning g what metaphors and similes are and trying to see them within the story.
Very good. Keep it up and take care.
Great job with your persistence! I'm impressed with how much you have been reading. 4ish months ago, I started a Bible reading challenge of my own. It is based on the Dave Ramsey debt snowball method. I am reading the books of the Bible from the shortest to the longest. I haven't been super consistent, but one thing I did miss doing was actually giving myself a deadline. I should do that. I don't think it will be February, though. 😅 Also, I'm just getting into Phillipians, as well! ❤
I can only pull it off because I force myself up during the week. I get up to make the hubby coffee and warm up egg cups that I make him each week. If I didn’t get up early there would be no way for me to read that quickly. I’d probably have to find an audio Bible that has good narration.
Congratulations on the your Anniversary and your son's passing the Driving Test. Hope things settled down. You and your family take care.
Yes, Life does happen. lol. Glad to hear everything is fine now. He is a trooper sounds like.
@@craftymine2472 He is. Hasn’t even needed pain meds even though he still looks a bit rough. Getting better each day though.
What I did to help me memorize Bible verses was make blanks equal to the number of letters for each word except make the words like prepositions, pronouns and articles visible, as those words are the trickiest for me to get right.
@@crossoverdreamer7016 That’s a great idea.
Keep up the good work. Hope you and the family have a good school year.
Must be a lot of work. Keep it up and enjoy the breaks when they come.
@@craftymine2472 it can be a lot of work, but curriculum that’s basically open up and go helps a lot
Keep it up. More than one glass of water will cause me to have acid reflux. If I need more fluids I switch over to gatorade which works for me.
@@craftymine2472 Oh wow! I haven’t heard of that happening. Glad you have something that works for you to keep you hydrated.
Good video. Hope you and the family are doing well. Take care and keep it up.
I’m reading my Bible through in 6 months right now. Yes! It’s so important to read the Bible through! Love this video!☺️
Amazing art work and music
@@ikep.5325 they really do make gorgeous kits. I’m already looking at what else they have available so I can make another one.
Thanks, I have a bunch of those... Hadn't thought about doing anything with them. I am already thinking of what to make..
@@everythingisvibration If you make one some of the pieces are extra fragile and can break a bit. I had one piece that snapped just while I was sanding it. I was able to fix the couple of things that snapped and know to be extra careful next time.
@@ThePocketFullofArrows I have a bunch of the wind up music things but not in anything. This just gave me a lot of ideas.
That is a work of art
@@everythingisvibration their kits are gorgeous. I did snap a couple of pieces so I know of if I do another one I need to be more careful.
Very nice.
Well, didn't know that existed. The Connect 4 Spin. Now you really have to think ahead, Very nice video. Keep it up and take care.
@@craftymine2472 The kids have all been having fun playing it. It’s a little annoying to snap the pieces in but they like it.
Oh, and one more thing...use it on an area where it has room enough around it. It won't be wavy if it has enough room to properly go through 😊 (I use my kitchen table and then put it back on a shelf when I'm done.)
@@katie7748 I figured that out after I recorded. 🤦🏻♀️ The rest of my recipes were beautifully flat. My 15 year old might be more excited than I was because he laminated everything I had laid out to get laminated. 😂 He reran the one from the video and it flattened it right out.
Oh, just a heads-up, use WET ERASE on laminated sheets. Dry erase can stain them. Learned that the hard way.
@@katie7748 thank you! I kind of had a feeling that was the case when I saw they specifically made ones for dry erase. I definitely want to sit down and make chore charts at some point but will probably end up feeling the urge to buy the dry erase laminating sheets first. Probably a lot of uses for them…even for making lists first like things we run out of that we need at the store.
How funny! A laminator is one of the first "supply" type items I bought. I've laminated flashcards, maps, all kinds of stuff. Also my husband's FedMed card (OTR trucker), our library cards (old school here so they're paper!), all kinds of non-school things. I absolutely love it! Happy Belated Birthday, by the way!
@@katie7748 awesome! I just thought it was an excessive non useful thing before that just took up space. Now I realize I prejudged the laminator and for that I am sorry to my friends. They were right. 😂 Thank you for the belated birthday greeting.
You were funny, I enjoy watching you thru the whole process. It sounds like you will get a lot of use out it.
Time stamp 3:10 you said you can't photo-copy the pages. Why is That? If it is due to the size of the pages, there seems to be a lot of space on the left and right side of the information on the page. Just a matter of centering it on the copier. Do you guys have a copier at home?
@@craftymine2472 is copyrighted material so there’s no copying permissions…even just for home use. I’m a bit of a rule follower…most of the time.
@@ThePocketFullofArrows That is good that you follow the rules, but there is also the "Fair use" rule which is cover in law and there is also a "limited time" on Copyright material. If these books are being discontinued I really wouldn't worry about it. If you were going to resale the copies to the public then there would be a problem. Example: Think about when a kid or adult draws a picture from some other publication like a book, comic book or just another picture. Its for personal use, the courts really do not care as it is for personal use and it is covered under "Fair use" rule. ((Benjamin Franklin though he never patented any of his inventions. His reasoning is stated in his autobiography: That, as we enjoy great advantages from the inventions of others, we should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours; and this we should do freely and generously)). Of course the rules have change due to corporate greed. Anyway, I am rambling, your kids deserve the copies. Take care.
@@craftymine2472thanks for the j go. I know there’s a lot of fair use laws but I’ve never really studied them.
Looks like the kids were having a lot of fun. Very good. Hope it makes it for a couple of years, but kids are tough on inflatable toys. I don't know how many pool floats we have gone thru over the years.
@@craftymine2472 They were rougher with it this time and I was nervous but it’s still full of air….so far.
keep up the good work and attitude.
Very good. Maybe trim the labels with scissors, it maybe a little off center but less of a chance for it to be peeled off. Keep up the good work.
@@craftymine2472 Thanks. I was thinking about doing that because I definitely worry they’ll rip off when one child goes to grab a book and potentially snags on a label.
Keep it up. Never knew you had a You tube channel till today. Hope everyone is well. Take care.
@@craftymine2472 I haven’t been super active on it until recently. Decided to see what would happen if I decided to dedicate more time to it.
@@ThePocketFullofArrows Will try and watch each video you put out. Tell your husband I said Hi.
I wish you would turn the camera around
Hi so glad I found this video! We just purchased this course for my son. Curious to know if this was the only science you used ? Can we use it for the whole year?( we are still new to homeschooling and wanna do things different this year )
It’s the only science I used last year anyway. In the past I used whatever came in the family cycle from My Father’s World. It was good for a season, but I like having more freedom to choose what I think might work better for my kids instead of being bound to a boxed preset set of books for every subject. Granted, you can still do that with Masterbooks by getting a whole grade level at a time, but I feel there’s a lot more freedom and simplicity with Master Books. I hope all of that makes sense. I’m still in the process of waking up. 😂
We love MB! I agree with others that it doesn’t get enough publicity. It’s been a game changer for us and we switched from Abeka to MB last year. I ordered our curriculum for this coming school year in April during the sale and I’m so excited!
Totally a game changer. It has been so much less stressful for my kids and I.
I already bought a Reason for Handwriting for my kids for next year. I love that it is focused on Scripture. We’ve done Memoria Press Traditional Spelling and will be trying Rod and Staff Spelling next year.
I’ve used a little Rod and Staff in the past but I never tried their spelling. I think I only used it for PreK because I liked how it helped with some fine motor skills due to lots of cutting and coloring.
I use Masterbooks for spelling out of the LLFLE. They give tips you can do in the back of book. I make mine last all week by.. 1st day of the lesson =Pre-Test 2nd Day= Memory Game with spelling words 3rd Day= Practice Test 4th Day= Spell words with letter Tiles 5th Day= Final Test on the words For handwriting this year we just used random workbooks that I had but next year I plan to use the new handwriting curriculum from Masterbooks that is supposed to release this Summer. Going to do one more year at least of Manuscript before we do cursive. I feel like my son needs more with Manuscript before cursive.
I’m so bad at looking in the back of the book. We’ve just used Reason For for so long and it works that it’s definitely a preference. Plus with the ones that have struggled with reading sometimes the words can be a bit too advanced and frustrating for those kids. I may have to pay more attention to the back LLFLE in the future for my kids that haven’t struggled as much. Thanks for the info.
@@ThePocketFullofArrows your welcome. If you don't have it already Masterbooks has an app and you can always find tips and tricks on there or ask fellow Masterbooks moms for suggestions.
It is good to see someone showing off Masterbooks I feel it doesn't get enough publicity as other curriculums do. We also use all Masterbooks currently and already ordered all Masterbooks for next year. We did use Our 50 States by Notgrass as well and a few other resources but Masterbooks is our main curriculum. Next year it will be our only curriculum we will use.
It really doesn’t get enough attention. I agree. I didn’t even know about it until I got a homeschool catalogue from Christian book.
When a blinker is out it usually means a blown fuse. Under the steering column you should find a little opening where the fuses are. There will be numbers on them. You can go to Auto Zone or O'Reilly's or even Walmart get a pack of fuses and just pull the old one out and replace with new one. Or its a light bulb socket. Your manual in your glove compartment will have an index.
Thanks for the tip. So far it seems to be fixed, but if it happens again soon, we definitely will look into that.
Thank you for sharing this! I didn’t know about the zoology through MasterBooks, so I will definitely looking for that. We use More Than Words Bible curriculum from MasterBooks and love it!
Oh yay! More than Words looked great so I knew I wanted to give it a try. Thanks for sharing that information. I think Zoology will be fun and it will be a good excuse for a zoo day at some point.
Thank you for sharing ☺️ I love it 🤗🙏 We enjoy Master books very much 🙏
You’re very welcome. Glad to meet another homeschool mom who enjoys Master books as well. It definitely has worked well for my family.

😂 I'm guessing this video was recommended because I've been looking at home gyms tour videos lately 😅 My home gym is really basic, some resistance bands, the X3 bar system and a pull up tower. I use ankle straps for anchoring points on the pull up tower. No need to damage my door and frame or drill into the inner wall wood frame. I can now go extra heavy using my tower. And I use my dumbbells to hold down the pull up tower for some pulling exercises using the bands. Anyways, I've made some amazing gains and hit every muscle. I'm done with regular weights, but been thinking about a functional trainer machine from Costco as well.
Yeah, Costco really does have some great home gym stuff when it’s actually there. It really doesn’t take too much to start training. I’m not a personal trainer, but YT has been a great place to find videos to help me make better gains.
Great resources. Just subscribed. I’d love to see a review on the economics and apologetics. Thanks for sharing. I also have a channel and right not it’s mainly about homeschooling. it would be fun to be friends and connect here 😊
I’ll definitely review the apologetics for kids. My daughter does the economics on her own so I don’t see much until I grade her work.
Nice! 💪🏼
Nice! Love it!! Apologetics is crucial in our day and age IMO.
I absolutely agree! That’s why I felt the need to add it into our basic curriculum.
