Get Thermal Solutions Right the First Time for Rugged Systems
Просмотров 61Месяц назад
Build, test, and iterate isn't a great way to build a rugged system. Too many variables are involved to take a brute-force approach, especially when it comes to power distribution and thermal issues. Simulation can provide designers with the necessary information to optimize a design for size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C) before construction. This webinar delves into the problems, tools, an...

Expanded-Beam Fiber-Optic Connector for Rugged Environments
take into account that if doing 48v for home storage on lifepo4 the cells, voltage goes from 2.5v<>3.65v and doing at with 16 cells means the total voltage is between 40v <> 58.4v. but but nmc(ternary) cells do reach 4.2v peak so can reach 67.2v which even if restrict to 80% of its voltage for longevity which is 61.76v would need to add safeguards no matter what.
Why limit it to EV? Why not include ICE vehicles ancillary power distribution?
Because ICE is already obsolete.
The 48V battery will need to be specified to provide cranking current and nobody would likely bother developing 48V starter motors for soon to be obsolete powertrains. Mild Hybrids can use 48V traction batteries but they use MGUs to replace both the starter and alternator.
48 V has been used in cars since ~2017, it came eith the introduction of mild hybrid gasoline cars. The auxilary e-motor is 48 V and also 48 V battery. In EVs in 2019 Porsche Taycan introduced 48 V for PDCC - Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control.
Telecom has been using 48V (-48v actually) for a long long time. I do understand inertia and why it will take a long time to get everything except the drive train to 48v on a vehicle.
200 watts to crank up a window? Or even 800 watts for a window? This is the performance of an immersion heater. Thinner cables? Today car manufacturers already use 0.5 sqmm cables in 12V systems. Even thinner cables would often break. Virtual battery? In the EU it is a requirement that the high-voltage battery can be separated via relays. One 12V battery is used to switch the relays. It could also be two 12V batteries for a 24V system, or four 12V batteries for a 48V system. But the starter battery cannot be dispensed with due to the regulations. Super Capacitors do not have the storage capacity of a lead-acid battery, much less than lithium batteries. The controllers in the car use 12V, but internally they work with 3.3 volts for the IC. VW is once again moving away from the zone controller concept for small cars. It is cheaper to combine central tasks in a central controller and pull cables instead of installing a separate controller for each small task. Autonomous vehicles. Who wants to drive a car controlled only by a computer? Who is liable if the computer makes errors? Autonomous trains are already rare, autonomous cars are an even more difficult task. High-speed Ethernet is rarely used in automobiles. The CAN bus system is used in the car. There are reasons for this that CAN bus is much more suitable for vehicles and that suppliers already offer CAN bus systems. Suppliers can offer a wide range of 12V systems or 24V systems such as those used in lagre trucks.
Why should you use Ethernet with 4 pairs of wires when CAN bus gets by with 1 pair of wires?
lol this guy knows his stuff
re: "Thinner cables? Today car manufacturers already use 0.5 sqmm cables in 12V systems. Even thinner cables would often break." exactly, where laymen are only able to see and focus on the idea of thinner wires, in reality what Engineers recognize is they must also focus on MECHANICAL DURABILITY, as there's exists a condition where you can actually have wires that are TOO THIN for a given application (true story). therein these kids have NO KNOWLEDGE of the time and costs to both OEM's and Dealers involved with replacing bad harnesses under WARRANTY. in their weak brains everything "magically" works PERFECT for 10 years/100,000 miles.
Allow me to explain this. Power loss = the resistance times the square of the current. For the same size wiring, if you quadruple the voltage, the current drops to a quarter and the power loss drops to a 1/16th (or much smaller wire can be used). A no-brainer to go to as high of a voltage as your insulation, semiconductor ratings, and safety standards allow (NEC code kicks in at 50volts or 60volts automotive). Biggest technical challenge I see is making a consumer level automotive produce have so much complexity that is becomes practically unserviceable.
Pls specify „unserviceable“ in more detail.
Well explained Lukas!
Very interesting! Thanks - I'm applying for a job with this and doing research :)
Tesla already moved to 48v architecture, so they use lighter, shorter & simpler network.
beam me some faster cheaper open internet with this please :)
Several times i feel like factors are presented as independent problems to be solved. When they are realy messures of the same thing.
Any optical PCI Express version?
Taken over by a group of investors? That means Toshiba will be broken up into pieces and sold at the best bid price. It's sad to see the end of Toshiba as we know it. That reminds me of Richard Gere's film Pretty Woman, 1990. Sad!!!
It would be rather useful if you would provide links to the product and software sites, and maybe to availability through distribution?
App notes?
First question is often about pricing... My take on this kind of device is the ability to do analog "real-time" functions, and digital functions to add processing, and provide, maybe, higher-level interface view for microcontrollers... Price ranges?

I don't mean to seem critical, though your products may be excellent, but your video was hardly useful and is a letdown to viewers in my opinion. It leaves more questions than it answers. It would have been more helpful to see both the laser and non-laser type machines etch the same PCB pattern and then analyze the results and highlight the differences. Also, the maximum board size was stated for the laser machine, but not for the non-laser type. In fact, nothing was mentioned about the non-laser version. Also, what about startup requirements, such as space, air filtration, waste removal, meeting local environmental codes if any? Lastly, and this often gets my goat: I went to the LPKF website and unless I missed it, there's not a clue as to price. Is the lack of price because it's presumed that someone, or a company, has bags of money sitting around and so price is not an issue? Consider making a more useful video that covers, in depth, both laser and non-laser machines and provide some real-world examples and please provide baseline prices on your website.
I was thinking more like putting antenna on the 1500 ft towers like helicopters do!
