Join me on my journey learning to freedive with water-friends who are merfolk, freedivers, dippers, seal-whisperers and ice queens in the mostly chilly waters of beautiful Cornwall. There are no people like water-people and there's no place quite like Cornwall.
Always freedive with a certified buddy :)
Freedive circuit training - sort of.
What we did between Christmas and NY because our pool we train dynamic in was shut ;)

Longships Trip to dive with seals, Cornwall

The vis was a bit indifferent and the seals initially pretty shy compared with Scilly where they are much bolder, but they’re wild creatures on their turf…a really fun day out. Shout out to Aquacity Freediving for organising the trip and to Atlantic Adventures for the charter.

Just in it for laughs on a Friday winter afternoon. Sitting on rocks being very buoyant in about 2m and swimming the causeway for kicks.
Autumn at Stack Point Cornwall: Freediving Micro-adventure

The kelp is starting to get really tatty now and the water is definitely cooling (gloves for me next dive I think) but we had great vis today and all the spiny starfish are appearing where it dies back. Fun time exploring the little channels and caves that you can access at high tide. Loads of corkwing wrasse still and did a decent litter pick of drinks cans from the bottom!

A really melancholy underwater space which is only 3.5m down at high tide and exposed at low. Wiki the sad story of this fishing trawler for more info.

Hey, yet another Prussia Cove video…we just love this place. No visit to the Enys this time but too busy swimming through other fun bits.

If you don't like seaweed, look away now! This edit is all about the cool environment in 1-3m more than the marine life. I didn't have a dive buddy so I was snorkelling with a swimmer. If you like marine life, have a look at the seal video :)

Top tips since I posted this… you can use gaffer tape either as an additional layer on top or instead but beware it might need maintaining every now and then. Also putting some black witch glue down each end to seal in the shot is helpful to reduce chance of water ingress, nothing worse than a neck weight that drips toxic leady sludge over your gear.
Grazie, ottima idea!
Great video, tks 4 sharing. A quick tip: insert lead inside a nylon stocking before the bike tube in order to avoid lead losses in case of rubber opening...🤙🏻
What size of tire did you use? 28 or thicker?
How beautiful the shallows are! Where abouts was this in the isles.
I will need to try this. Buy belts and then weights are not cheap.
❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic memories again again again ❤
Brilliant video, thanks for taking the time to make it.
wow
Your best time static and dynamic Breath hold underwater? Thanks
I want to learn to freedive. I'm completely new to it. Have you got any advice? Is there anywhere in Cornwall you can receive professional training?
Absolutely! I learnt with Aquacity Freediving down on the Lizard (I’m in Helston) and you can also right now get a start for the season doing a pool course with Blue Embrace Freediving - they are based in Truro at the moment doing evening sessions. With BE you could then do the ocean part in the summer. Both amazing providers and lovely supportive people to learn with… I dive with both clubs, there are so many of us here and growing all the time!
can you make tutorial- how make the air torus?
P𝐫O𝕞O𝓢m 😻
Hi
how is it going?. how super ,
no good to increase lead pollution in the environment, better to use a heavier metal or less toxic materials with similar or greater weight equivalent.
that's excellent. When I went there, last year the viz wasn't good.
When it’s good it’s really good! Second day was much rougher and stirred up so glad we got a good dive in Saturday. I’m lucky to live only half an hour away from PK but it’s still worth taking a punt on a weekend even if you don’t - a beautiful place.
@@alexandraundersea6873 thanks, it's Pete, I met you and some of the others last year.
@@stamfordmeetup ahh yes! Hey Pete! 🤙
@@alexandraundersea6873 😊
👍🔥
This is so blooming cool, I have to try this when next there! Thanks for the amazing vid, you girls look ace xx
Thank you so much, we do like to have fun! 🥰 Chasing up and down the causeway is highly recommended!
The vis looks great! Very jealous 😊
U can use the glue from a tire repair kit if you don't want to use tape.
Nice idea, except I would use sand instead of lead. It's free and not poisonous to the sea in case one may lose some. Yes, needs more volume to achieve the desired weight.
Great idea, may give that a go!
Looks great, thanks for uploading.
Cool video, great visibility. I have those same cressi fins.
Nice vid Alexandra. Interesting stuff
Loved this. Great vid. More plz
Hello again, another super video, thanks for uploading. I went there once hoping to find the German WW1 u-boats but didn't see them. I found an underwater tunnel to swim through that wasn't too deep or too long. Did you find any of the u-boats?
What kind of tape are you using?
It's self-amalgamating rubber tape so it sticks to itself and keeps the fold good. Since I made the vid I've started covering this section with gaffer tape as well, not certain it's necessary but binds the end of the rubber tape to the inner tube nicely.
Fantastic! Recommend Trebarwith Strand around Gull Rock if you have the chance.
Thank you! Love a recommendation for a new spot 👍
Is that a 2in buckle?
I cut it off an old rucksack, but pretty sure others I've made since I ordered 5cm for which sounds about right 👍
It depends on the thickness of inner tube so get that first and then measure it flat. Thinner ones are good for adding a kilo to spread weight with a belt, but thicker mountain bike inners needed for 1.5-3kg.
Thank you for the video very helpful.
Beautiful mermaid 🧜♀️ 🧜♀️, can you keep always your eyes 👀 open underwater?. Can you see clearly?, are your eyes 👀 burning 🔥?
Amazing 🙌
Super video, thanks for uploading. That's one of my favourite freediving spots. Have you spotted the hidden cave on the right hand side of Prussia Cove.
No! Sounds awesome, thanks for the tip! Is to the right of Piskies or the first cove (Bessy's)? Dived Bessy's at high tide on Saturday and did the swim-through on the Enys, that was really cool!
@@alexandraundersea6873 Sorry I should have said left hand side of Bessy's. (not right) Swim along left hand side and there will be a narrow opening. (not a cave yet but makes an interesting underwater swim because at the bottom the rocks above you have been eroded away.) Swim into this and it opens out as you go into it. Then follow it to the left and you will see the cave. More obvious at lower tides.
ps I've done a screen dump of cave from google earth and put on my facebook. Check this out facebook.com/photo?fbid=10226019478337795&set=a.10207318725390659
@@ukfreedivingbuddies Thank you so much! I've just had a look. You can see the swim through on the Enys on that pic too. Brilliant tip, I'll be back to explore that!
Amazing! Best cornish freedive vid have seen in ages
Thanks! It's a fairly niche genre! I'll be sticking a few more of these on through spring and summer, aiming to do 20 spots :)
Great video...cant wait to get under the water myself soon. Is there any parking near Piskies Cove?
Not too far, a little walk. But not much of it! IRoom for abut 20 cars. It's one where you need to get there early and beat the rush.
