    Great video! I followed this to set mine up. Do you have a vpn set up to be able to manage the proxmox server remotely? The other question I had, what OS are you hosting your mc server on? I'm just using a w11 client on my proxmox server, but yours looks to be through a CLI.

      You may need to set a DNS record with your internal server if you haven't already, but I have mine set to rancher.dwxe.internal with an A record pointing at Traefik with it's load balancer IPv4 address. Make sure too your client machine is using the internal DNS, I've had mine overwrite itself more then once

      I believe "auth sufficient..." should do this. Making it required will require the key but sufficient will ignore the key if it is not plugged in, but also still make it a viable method of authentication. See this for info, under 10.2.1 under Control Flags: docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html/system-level_authentication_guide/pam_configuration_files#PAM_Configuration_File_Format

      I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

I know their internal culture well.) I'm glad to hear you actually got responses from them! (And especially now, a resolution.👏) ...I had one of my Twitter accts shutdown a couple months ago for absolutely no reason that I can determine. Didn't even get a warning, just a violation notice & shutdown. I've sent 4 appeals. I received an automated email response with my case# on the first two appeal letters. hell yeah, got notified on the way to the gym. Thanks for the goated upload even if it was infuriating for you lmao. I don't personally use LinkedIn but I'm always worried about services like Cashapp and PayPal having these issues when using them for freelancing, along with RUclipss new-ish requirements for new channels to either submit your ID (not happening lol) submitting a video asking to be verified (gets ignored) and "building channel history" that doesn't work so any new accounts I've created don't have access to basic features like pinning comments or having links in descriptions. It really is baffling that these megacorp companies with 5 billion data breaches a year still expect people to be comfortable submitting ID for them to store or do with as they please, you made the right choice ditching the endless hoop jumping hell and just giving up on the account, I've heard nothing but good things from creator/streamer friends that use KoFi so hopefully it works out better for you in the future man, good video 👑

      With Veracrypt, you can encrypt the drive but it needs to be blank/formatted first. Existing files could potentially be recovered if you do a quick overwrite and I am sure there are limitations to the Veracrypt system itself to not allow this. I believe Bitlocker is the only file system encryption method that can encrypt data that already exists, but I may be incorrect.

      To my understanding it does. This is why I love AdNauseam as it not only blocks ads, but it's intended to also mess with ad networks. By clicking on all the ads it sees, it tells the networks that you like everything, resulting in them unable to "fingerprint" you for your likes and interests. Probably a bad way to explain it, they do have a report on AdNauseam at ceur-ws.org/Vol-1873/IWPE17_paper_23.pdf

The problem I present is that I installed a unifi server in a container under Ubuntu 24.04 for the administration of my network equipment, but I understand that by default all unifi equipment has VLAN 1 as administration (here is the detail). I want to configure my proxmox to allow me to use VLAN 1 on my vmbr2 interface so I can access my switches and change said management VLAN (example: VLAN 10). How can I do it?

    • @yeehawitsjake
      @yeehawitsjake 3 месяца назад

      If I understand correctly, VLAN 1 should be the native VLAN. Do you have the Unifi Controller/Server on the same Proxmox server? I believe if I recall correctly, it should be as easy as adding VLAN 1 to the list of allowed trunk VLANs for that VM/port. The other way you could do (I have a Fortigate setup with the UDM acting as an NVR) is change it to an access port and change the access VLAN to whatever your management is.

      @@yeehawitsjake Actually, it was easier than that. I simply had to connect the same vmbr for the opnsense which is on the same computer (I only have one physical computer where I am virtualizing everything), doing this automatically allows vlan 1, and since the native vlan is on the same vlan by default , this is outside the VLANs tagged on the Proxmox trunk port. and for the container where I have the unifi controller I simply had to remove the vlan tag and it automatically belonged to vlan 1 (default vlan and configured as untagged native vlan) PS: All of this follows the same configuration of physical interfaces and bridges. eth1 for proxmox administration eth2 for cluster and HA configuration eth3 and eth4 configured on a link to allow trunking. I hope this solution can be useful and help someone else, at least it worked for me.

    Must you use a different physical ethernet port for this to work? Or rather, can you only use one VLAN per physical ethernet port? I'm setting my default bridge vmbr0 to VLAN aware, giving my VM a vlan tag and have the VLAN in unifi and set to Allow All on the port. I would expect this to work, but the VM can't ping its gateway. So far I haven't been using VLANs for my VMs but want to start segregating. Do I need to create a subinterface for the proxmox host if I want to use the same physical port?

      Multiple VLANs can be in use on one interface, however, you also need to have your switch support this. It's an issue I forget every time but when it's created on Proxmox, your port where your server is on should be set to Trunk mode (usually switchport mode trunk, then switchport trunk allowed vlan X/all on CISCO devices).

      @@yeehawitsjake the switch is set up like a trunk (at least from what I can understand since unifi doesn't call it trunk/access) and allows all known vlans and has a native vlan. Like you say, this should work but just doesn't. I don't know if it's maybe because my vm is on a different vlan than the proxmox host.

      What does your interface settings look like on your Proxmox host and VMs? If there's no VLAN on your VM, you'll need to make the interface for the VLAN on your Proxmox host as well as I believe the interface needs to be VLAN aware.

      @ i tried making subinterfaces with no luck. Then I realized I could only set one default gateway for those subinterfaces - when only setting one it worked. Then I restored the initial configuration (no subinterfaces, vlan aware) which didn't work before but now it worked. Setting a vlan on a VM works perfectly now, but the settings are exactly the same as before. I have no idea why, but maybe there was some old holdover somewhere. The proxmox host was moved to its current install via a backup of the database file so maybe something in there was off, who knows. I was getting quite frustrated since all my settings were like yours and all the other videos I've seen but didn't work. And now it works with the exact same settings, which is almost even more annoying. But at least it works
