Test your tap water and see if its ok and then take any fresh water conditioner for the chlorination in the water and use it. Worked for me

its actually 1 inch of fish per gallon, yall cant even get your myths straight.

For fish that size, the old school rule would allow for 10 fish. New technology allows more then that. Filters are so good anymore. I have a 10 gallon with around 22 in it and it's thriving. Giving me fry on a weekly basis

I have a Java fern in my grave at the bottom of the tank, is that not good? What should I do?

@@Laxrocks571 hopefully im not late but java fern rhizome should be exposed to the water column and not buried or it will die try using string or glue to attached to something above the gravel there's videos on yt on how to plant java fern hope this helps :)

Thank you, I think I ended up ripping these out, plants started taking over the whole tank haha.

I have 4 Java fern plants, planted in rocks and they out grew the tank and grew roots under the rocks 🤷🏽‍♂️

@@Q50Sal roots can go under substrate, the rhizome can’t though

I'd go for sand to be safe! I'm about to get some too and there's lots of research if you Google it on sand being better although I've also read that they can be on gravel you just wanna make sure the gravel is rounded rather than sharp if that makes sense. Hope this helps a bit!

No they need a soft substrate, sand or round soft stones. Shrimp works well with gravel through... I'm getting a thick layer of FLUVAL stratum and then I'll top it off with 1-2 centimetre of black sand in my aquarium, since I want some Corydoras (I'm not a complete beginner, but I haven't had fish since I was a kid)
