I would recommend handlings sails, same speed but better turning and wind catching.

speed is limited by the hull, build in a higher quality shipyard to up the speed limit

I haven't played in a few years. Thinking about giving it a go again. Is it still a speed meta? barshot scoons? I lost interest when they added the ability to blow a ship to pieces in one volley of explosive barrels.

I am have grind many many mmo`s and other pc titles that are worth talking about for real.. but I never heard about Atlas at all, this Atlas does make me think of sea of thieves (cool genre).. If there is one small multiplayer pirate ship game I miss, it would be Cloud Pirates.. And the best pirate based mmo game to this date would be a 2005 title called Uncharted Waters Online (lost memories seven wonders) Edit: I uninstalled Atlas after 30 minutes game crashed a couple of times, the character style and movement was not it for 2018 game that has been updated since, I just expected way more, also the typographic overlays on the screen does not make it immersive and things overall feels off, unneeded steep learning curve too, very similar style like 'Scum' - this just not meet my taste, it looks and feels like Ark Survival reskin - both games clunky af.. I am now hoping that Skull and Bones publishers will make things worthwhile in the pirate genre..
