    Hello Lothar- I was wondering about your Gibson 175…Did you happen to purchase that from someone in the US ? Does it have a neck repair by chance the headstock? I sold my 175 on eBay to someone in Germany maybe in the early 2000's or even the 1990"s…thanks for your musical help.

      I bought my 175 in Cambridge in 1980 while I was studying at Berklee. Unfortunately I broke the neck a few years ago and got an excellent repair from the German luthier Thomas Reg'n. So I guess your former guitar is another one.

      @@LotharsGuitarSchool Very cool -I was just wondering if it was the case! How amazing would that have been - btw I grew up in Hamburg form 1970 to late 1976 - got to see many great concerts at the Musikhalle and CCH - even Onkel Pös! great music and great times. Baden Powell used to come through and play a lot - even Yepes with his 10 string., I remember the Berliner Jazz Tagge with Herbie playing on channel 3 - also Keith Jarret and Musikladen with Return to forever live and Stevie Wonder! man that never happened in the US. I am an american that lives in California but mback then i was 10 years when I first came to Hamburg. Govi schalplatten laden - Pop magazine - Sounds too. I did see Little Feat 2 x in Hamburg as well. Geneis 2x's so many shows - so many shows…Good luck to you - I wish you were closer by to make some music together - that would fun. i have also swapped all these models around in my amps .ive often wondered if the different valves had more bass or treble etc as we associate pushed power amp valves with more bass... im not listening with headphones now but i agree with your assessment that there isnt a great tonal difference , but you can lose the range of gain where the guitar sounds nicest and you probably create hiss by turning up the amp to compensate for low volume hitting the power amp. it as interesting to see the graphic EQ . thanks.

    Thanks for this video and comparison. I'm currently shopping both of these amps and unsure which way to go. On one hand, the Twin has the bottom and power I like, being that it has more horsepower (if) ever needed (85 watt). Comparing this to the Princeton, which I actually like the tone of the Princeton over the Twin, but it is of course a 1 x 12 or 1 x 10 find against 2 x 12's. It has a clean tone and settings similar to Twin, but at 12 watt, I'm not sure if it's worth the cost when you can ultimately gain more from a Twin. I know it depends on context, and I am playing at home mostly, which is why Princeton prob makes the most sense for room tone (I don't record, but can see how this amp can benefit that aspect). The Twin, I feel, has to be cranked to get the most out of it, that is what it was made for. If unable to crank at home, does it still perform in comparison? For me, it's a matter of finding a used Twin that is about 2/3 the cost of a new Princeton, but then again, harder to find used Princetons and unsure why that is. I may end up buying a Princeton new. Appreciate any added thoughts you have on these comparisons and your recommendations.

    • @LotharsGuitarSchool
      @LotharsGuitarSchool 4 месяца назад

      For home purpose the Princeton is a much better choice since you reach the sweet spot easily. The twin will be super clean at lower volumes. In order to reach a warmer tube sound you have to play it much louder. And to haul around the twin is quite an endeavor.

      Interesting. I don't know Johnny Smiths approach. I wonder how this works with only three forms. I guess you'd have to move more through the positions. Someone suggested to do all 12 keys in one position. Possible, but requires a lot of stretching of first finger and pinky. I find that awkward.

      You have to begin somewhere to read music. Though this course ic basically designed for pick style guitar in popular music, it won't hurt when to read it with a classical guitar. But to read fluently classical guitar is a different ballgame and will need additional material.
