Great video. Seems like the "A" model is the way to go in MSFS. When evaluating the max airspeed of the "A" model you were in a slight descent. I wonder if that contributed to the slightly elevated airspeed.

camera inertia was tested as far as i remember, and it turned out to be the worst thing you can do to a sim. x-plane habtics are best in the industry. never heard from anybody giving preference to msfs over x-plane's interaction. for a better explanation: mouse-inputs (or any controller) must transform a mind's will without disturbance or deviation. people can hate a game just cause of bad habtics:). otherwise i found that your objections against some of austin's flight modelling help the community understand that it is not perfect, there is a lot of potential still to improve physics and behaviour to make it more realistic. never trust those fanboys who make x-plane a religion, there is indeed gaps to the real thing. some portions still feel unnatural, including some of the helicopters, for many reasons and sometimes only detectable in specific situations. Only adding a local windmodel would change the flight feel completely, and still the real feel misses some of the swim in the air mass for light planes or helis. but while msfs and dcs fly on rails, we have at least some realism with x-plane. but: being better than other sims does not mean it could not be improved.

This is by far the best video I have come across that discusses XP12.

I think in a future update a nice enhancement would be returning the Nimitz Class. We will have them at least 25 more years. Another nice touch would be to have them in their real world areas according to hull number/homeport. Norfolk and Mayport ships Atlantic. San Deigo and Bremerton Ships Pacific, and Ronald Reagan CVN 76 near Japan. A static carrier at Newport News would be authentic also.

Pilot, that carrier is the Gerald Ford. I think I read somewhere the Ford Class only has 3 arresting wire vice Nimitz 4.

cool video but atm the GTN 750 doesn't accept any preloaded flight plans the main screen basically freezes so as long as one doesn't use the auto pilot or manuly puts a flight plan in the plane works Awesome.

Flight Sims need to put more emphasis on a Pilot's Logbook. I also want them to turn it into a "American Truck Simulator" style game, where you can buy planes, rent them out to make bank, buy airports and collect landing fees...

First of all, flight models are extremely hard to get right in microsoft flight simulator. Second thing is, this aircraft usually climbs at 240 in the CLB detent not at 90 or 100% full power at 220...

The formation flying in X-plane is cool, I didn’t know there was a function for that!

Great review! Im actually the artist that worked on the RV-14 for SWS, and I really appreciate your methodical approach. The tail wheel characteristics in MSFS was a handful to try and develop around. We delayed launch over a month to try and get it to even that well behaved. Can you position(spawn) the carrier in the ocean yourself, and can you use it offline?

I like the music, definitely makes it more fun than other tutorials! I also get significant lag in xp12 when flying in the clouds, so it's prob the sim. Laminar's new cloud graphics are messed up-- fuzzy in the distance and laggy up close no matter what settings are used. Nice vid though and nice formation flying!

I'd just suggest setting the volume of the background music a little lower in your videos in general, because sometimes it makes difficult to understand your speak. One question, at the end it seemed the sim was dropping FPS a lot, or was that cause by RUclips playback ?

When the game has fully been released, i think a review like this should be done (again). Some stuff just isn’t in a finished state. Otherwise, nice review!

Nice landing - I am happy that I twisted Austin´s arm to finally implement visual wires. Afaik the new Ford CVN only has 3 wires, not 4. And if you want to review your landing, go to ALT-R for the replay, then switch to SHIFT-3 for the LSO view or SHIFT-5 for the tower view!

I also agree with the gear drag issue, I've noticed it with the RV10/C172/SR22. Just yanks the nose down as soon as the mains touch.

I have used XP11 for years ( when I cannot fly my glider in RL) but honestly with all respect for LR there are little improvments when compared with MSFS. For what I se it's not a new release, it is a relatively little improvement over XP11. It remain better for what's flight dynamics (maybe) but for what's overall immersion there is no comparison. MSFS with the right addons is more then decent and I can Fly VFR in all the world without having to works months for making ground texture with ortho4xp (8 tiles of Swifzerland, LOD17, 400 mb hardisk space! There are also lot of wonderful airports for free and even the payware are less expensive. XP airports in comparison seems 30 years old tech.

I hate inertia in camera view in MSFS2020. It literally pissing me off! Guys from XP12 - PLEASE! Don't do that. Don't make it inertial. XP12 simulator just perfect almost everywhere.
