    Can you doctors, investigate a bit how to reinitiate growth in adults, how to open growth plates through hormons, nutritions and/or fractures/stress. Many could use it, and would resolve many social problems

    I'm pretty sure this is what happened to me. I had brusing on the bottom of my foot. All x-rays have been done non weight-bearing.I also have a jones fracture. I've been in a boot, but it's been 6 months now, and the bone hasn't healed. And I get a lot of pain and swelling along top of my foot. Lately, I have lost all mobility in my big toe. I have an appointment to go back soon. I am going to demand an MRI and weight bearing x-rays because this is ridiculous. I feel like I have complained and complained, but all they want to focus on is the fracture. But the pain and swelling aren't anywhere near the fracture. Plus, why am I not able to move my toe anymore?

      Doctors are very stubborn sometimes and ignore our feelings and rely on imaging tests too much but who can feel pain location better than the patient? Nobody. I hope things are moving in the right direction for you already and you are healing.

    I snapped my left Achilles 10 years ago, no operation, I was put in a boot immediately & did RUclips Rehab as I couldn’t afford a proper Therapist. Was up & running within a solid year. Back to sports etc. 10 years later I ruptured my right Achilles. No operation, have been in a cast now for 6 weeks, started my weight bearing this week & am in a walking cast. Will definitely look into proper rehab this time, with an appropriate Therapist. Trying to stay positive & optimistic, here’s to us Achilles Warriors 🤭♥️🩼

    I don’t necessarily agree with this guy on some issues. I’m not a doctor. They want full time in a boot? Sleeping in a boot? I can’t sleep well in a boot. Associated health issues with not getting proper rest. After 2 weeks in a boot I started getting significant atrophy, super dry skin. Once I started washing my foot and resting my foot exposed for hours at a time, my foot started looking more normal. There is no weight bearing lying in bed. The foot is in plantar position. There is occasional small movement of foot muscles not associated with the Achilles. Itching is gone. My foot doesn’t just get 2 hours a week exposed to the air and using muscles. At that rate, PT would be extended to compensate for muscle atrophy. My goal is to walk, not dunk a basketball or run a marathon uphill all the way.

      @bennyc5546 4 месяца назад

      @@Always_Never hey sorry for only just seeing this comment now. I've been out of the boot what feels like a lifetime ago now. I think I got out of it late December. Honestly I never got used to that boot in the day or when sleeping, on the plus side; The last month of the boot I could it take off so actually got some sleep. I actually found the lack of sleep the worst part of the whole process. That said the absolute paranoia that I'd wake up in the night and go to walk normally was strong, but no mishaps. I haven't healed completely but haven't tried to, I was very active before, playing football and ran a lot. I am back cycling and have been for almost 3 months now. I just push through my heels as opposed to my toes but occasionally I push through my toes to activate my weaker calf. It has 'caught up' muscle wise through just walking a lot but I couldn't jump from the weaker leg or sprint. I'm so sorry you've got the injury, I have a history of injuries and honestly I found this one so tough, maybe due to my age (mid 30s) hasn't helped. All I can say is follow the advice, the human body is quite amazing, it will heal, you will feel better and you can get back to normal activities. There is a plethora of videos on YT of athletes that have come back from this injury. I know they have the best physios, best nutritionists and best personal trainers but they are still humans that healed and got back to the level that they left. We can too. Its weird I see this comment today as earlier today I decided I am going to try and get fitter, healthier and return to the sports I previously did. 7 months ago I was dead set that I'd never even try because of how horrible the rehab is and fear of doing the injury again. But life is short and to be enjoyed. I really hope your recovery is going well. I found it a dark time so hope you are dealing with it better than I did at times. Good luck!

Main problem seems to be lack of knowledge due to newness of this system. My main concern is that there is no planned specialist review of the tendon to ensure reconnection. I find it odd that he and other dr's, including Stewart McGill, never mention the only thing that helped me with my bulging and degenerative bottom 2 discs, decompression therapy, whether by inversion table, hanging by a pullup bar, and hanging upside down on a hyper extension bench. I learned about these from the infamous powerlifting coach Louie Simmons, who broke his back and had disc issues because of it. He did these until he could squat and deadlift again and came back to squat 925. I came back from not being able to lift anything to do squat 600 lbs after doing all of these decompression exercises for a year or so, and continue to do them at 62. I've been doing them for 30 years, and can squat and deadlift for the most part. If my back bothers me too much, I'll do assistance work for a month or so until my discs heal enough to squat and deadlift again. It's a cycle, but at least I can keep this up.

    • @maktiki
      @maktiki 2 года назад

      Smoking has a major influence on wound healing. The achilles area is far away from the heart so wound healing is already slow on this bodypart. Smoking causes small bloodvessels to constrict this limits wound healing. If you quit smoking immediately you can have surgery, and do not smoke ever again.

      @@brownmamba4063 I would definitely recommend trying to get an MRI if possible if you really want to be sure. I partially tore my Achilles on June 28. Initially I did not get put in a boot in the proper position for almost two weeks. I was told from the ultra sound that it looked like I had less than a 5cm gap in the tear and likely wouldn’t need surgery. I didn’t walk much but did slip in the shower and had to put my injured foot down. My doctor wanted to schedule an MRI to be sure but they waited to place the order for almost a week. It was then denied by my Indira because my doctor just put it in as ankle pain. After an appeal they finally approved the MRI and it was scheduled for June 3rd. I started going to PT at the end of May and they actually referred me to a Achilles specialist because they thought I might need surgery. I’m 34 and a very athletic person so I wanted to get it fixed properly. The results of the MRI showed I had a 7cm gap in 75% of my tendon. Luckily the specialist was able to schedule me for surgery the same week of my MRI. He was very surprised my other doctor didn’t put me in a boot right away. It can be a hassle to get an MRI but if you are someone that wants to continue being active then I think it is definitely worth it. I’m not a doctor but there is definitely a big risk of tendon elongation if you’ve moved your foot out of that downward pointing position after the first 48 hrs. I was really upset with my initial doctor for not treating my injury seriously enough and I’m sure you may be angry as well. I hope some of my experience helps inform you on what you want to do.

    Really helpful video. I am in a cast right now from tearing my right Achilles. I am on week 4 (weight baring on week 2) and I get a walking boot on week 5 (my choice and not waiting until week 6 or 8) and that should be 3 weeks. I have a desk job and I have a hard time sitting still for long periods. I have been an athlete my whole life and I am in my 40s and did this playing basketball. So this really let me know that I have to be patient and this is not the end but just a long journey that I can recover from.

      @ 1BOXINGKING1 Well, it has been a struggle but I am better but I have pain in my right heal everyday with stiffness. You don’t heal the same as you get older. You need to listen to the doctors on your way to recovery and do the PT. The PT on your own is some of the most important part of your recovery because this injury has a lot to do with you and what you do. Do your stretches and ice is your friend. Ice at least once a day but the more the better. You have to be patient with your recovery. It will take about 4-6 months to start running and jumping but that is a fast track. It took me 6 months to get back to a slow jog but that is limited with pain. I did a lot of PT on my own because I wanted to speed up my recovery because issues with the VA but the doctors said I was ahead on my recovery. Once you can put your full weight on your foot and do a toe raise, you will be good to go. Make sure you don’t rush the boot or cast. You will have a limp if you do. Also, get an ankle brace for support when you get out the cast and boot. Since it is your right foot, you need to find a driver. You can’t drive with a boot, I already tried. Driving with a cast is too risky. Once you get out of both. No long trips. You will find the pressure from the pedal and brake can be a little too much at times. Get some stretch bands with different resistance to build strength and just for stretching. Lastly, this is a long road. In life we have challenges but we are measured by how we respond to them. I am sure you will be fine. Take care.

    I have an oa hip problem that has caused problems for 2-3 years, at times very painful. I now follow a low carb/keto diet aiming for weight loss and to reduce inflammation. I take turmeric and black pepper with other stuff in my morning concoction. A few months ago I found Rose Hip Vital which I have found very effective. It is sold for people and also for dogs and horses. I am now on a 1 year waiting list for hip replacement. I am uncomfortable but not in pain most of the time.
