Robot Dairy Farming in Ireland - Honest opinion/Maintenance.. A day in the life
Просмотров 57 тыс.4 года назад
Filmed in early March 2020. Have you ever wondered how a robot could milk cows? I was looking on the internet and youtube this last while and it was difficult to find an honest opinion of someone running a robotic milking system without a sales rep standing beside them. Hopefully, you are more informed about how the system works and some routine maintenance on a robot. This is not paid sponsors...

Calving routine at Salesian Agricultrual College Pallaskenry
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.4 года назад
In this film, I tried to capture the process of a cow calving. Springtime means calving time for the majority of Irish farmers. The reason for this is to try to match the growth of grass with the cow's milk production because the grass is a natural food and cheap. They are right in the swing of things at the moment with a lot of calves on the ground. I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watch...
Hegarty Hedge Cutting - The man, gear and story
Просмотров 146 тыс.4 года назад
I hope you enjoyed that video. I first met Hugh Hegarty as part of my college placement a few years ago and always wanted to capture the gear and more importantly the story behind it. Hughs's story is an inspirational one, it proves you don't have to be born into it to have it. If you can dream of it you can achieve it. There is no magic formula, Hugh is an ordinary guy who just grinds it out e...
The tractor run
Просмотров 5 тыс.5 лет назад
By gosh do farmers come up trumps when it comes to charity events. Tractor runs have become so so popular in recent times as a way of putting an Agri twist on making money for those who need it more. I went on a tractor run recently with a few friends and I brought the cameras with me to capture the crack and excitement. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy it.
New Holland Methane concept tractor walk around
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.5 лет назад
About two years ago I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the New Holland Methane/Concept Tractor and Future technology event at the New Holland HQ Basildon UK. While there I made this video. This week once again Irish farming was in the headlines as one of the majour contributors to the apparent "Climate Crisis". Headlines like these are damaging to Irish farming and particularly the bee...
Ruttle Bros Maize 2019
Просмотров 79 тыс.5 лет назад
Well, maize 2019 has kicked off with a bit of a bumpy start with the big storm that never came putting the fear of god up some farmers to cut. Crops are only starting to ripen now so everything is madness. Contractors around the country are flat. I spent the day with Ruttle bros Alan and Shane while they were just kicking off again. They are based just out Askeaton in Co.Limerick. Dairy farmers...
Hegarty Hedgecutting

Hegarty Hedgecutting is run by Hugh Hegarty outside Ballincollig Co.Cork. Hugh runs a fleet of Masseys from 135 to 7718. Hedgecutting is Hughs's full-time work with a bit of septic tank, mulching aswell. McConnell's are the weapon of choice for Hugh he has been using them since very early on and finds them to be the best, he also knows them the best. I caught up with Hugh while they were cuttin...
Young farmers opinion..."I think the real book is your eyes and your hands"
Просмотров 8 тыс.5 лет назад
"I think the real book is your eyes and your hands" is a small video I put together after giving a good friend of mine a hand for the day drawing in some second cut bales. A young farmer from Co. Laois. A dairy and beef farmer and also a recent graduate of kildalton Agricultural Collage. Unlike many other dairy farmers he dose his own bales at silage time running a New Holland TM140 and Lely We...
RedRock loading shovel review and a chat with the harvester driver (GoPro)
Просмотров 9 тыс.5 лет назад
While finishing up for the evening I caught up with the shovel driver. A recent addition to the fleet is a Redrock loader with a Johnson Engineering made push off buck rake. Wallace talks with me a bit about the shovel itself and their popularity in Europe while not really taking off in this country. I then hopped in with the young harvester driver to keep him company and see what the crack was...
Grass 2019- Big field, Hauling and Talking
Просмотров 9 тыс.5 лет назад
Hauling more grass from the big field on one of those really hot fine summer days. driving the case 956 all day, when she keeps popping outa gear on ya all day does get a bit annoying at times, still can't but get a little excited when she puts out the black smoke on the hills. Tried to get as many angles of us at the grass as possible. What do yee reckon on these type of videos ?? let me know ...

Silage 2019-Prep of machinery and Lifting grass (GoPro)
Просмотров 36 тыс.5 лет назад
Start of the grass 2019. I decided to take a different approach to make silage videos, trying to cover the machinery used. Not a lot of people would have the balls to put clips of machines having to be jumped started etc or problems. Instead of showing everything all rosie I think it gives a "REAL" perspective of what actually goes on. Everyone runs into issues but not always shown on the youtu...

Tha original 956 has turbo????
Thats not anything to do with Case
You can't farm on an app. Just watch.
Clean robot is happy robot
I wonder what his OCIs are, some OEMs are now recommending every 1000hrs. Many I know have not got their head around the 500hr interval yet.

Hello I am sserwanja nasser very passionate young farmer and I want to study agriculture at your college . Please may I be assisted . Thank you
Anyone know the size of the tyres on this??
650/65/38 on the rear 480/65/28 on the front all squeezed onto the original rims I’ve changed to a set of wider solid centre rims since this and changed the fronts to 500/60/28 the tires sit much better on the wider rims
For a man thats 6'1 a little stool be handy.
Great video!
I just got accepted there
watch this vid every yearb4 silage cause it fukin bangin
For the ones it doesn’t get on (like the ones with weird udders and heifers with small teats) that you had to hold on. Does that mean you’d have to be around every day of the week to make sure all get milked?
The robot takes images of the udders when entering for the first time. So robot knows where the udders are and how big they are.
An excellent video to get an honest view instead of the usual propaganda, very well-made video, keep up the good work, from your old Ag Science teacher💪🚜
Could this movie be translated? because I don't understand much English. I have 60 cows myself and I'm interested in such a robot
Did the harvester run out of grass
Wow!!!! fergie heaven........my granda used to have a 590 then a 2640!!
I drove his 135 and my Dad gave him the signs on the top of the cab on some of his tractors
the shit could be uded to make biogas and fertilizer
Does he do any other contract work or is it just hedge cutting
Were u talk to cj when u were ther
Clean is key!!! Prevents mastitis !! Singe your udders and you'll be alright! Oh and don't forget the operator too! Making sure they are clean too! I love the accent !! 🤓
Singularly the most destructive piece of kit designed by man. Depriving berries and seeds from birds at critical time of year.

Before I saw this video, I hired Hugh to clear out some overgrown vegetation on a wee humble cottage I inherited in Ireland. The cottage has been in our family for many years. Because of Covid, I couldn't get over there from the USA to see what needed to be done. I called Hugh out of the blue and this very kind, dear man went out and expertly did a fantastic job of trimming up the overgrowth around the cottage that had been unoccupied for over 5 years. Although we had never met, he trusted me to pay him and I trusted him to restore the grounds around the home that my great grandmother lived in. I always knew the Irish were special and Hugh (and his family) sets a fine example of how very special the Irish people truly are. Thank you Hugh, hope to meet you and your family someday soon.
Some day might never come. Get over to Ireland as soon as you can. Work will always be there. Life waits for no one. Go while you and yours are healthy.
@@kevlally I did get over there and was able to meet Hugh. Super great, honest guy with a terrific family.

beurk shit in the milk
4:15 do they buy their milk?
Dose who buy wha ?
@@simplyagri5191 there stand bottles of milk. it looks like they buy it from the store instead of taking it from the tank from their own cows
@@11rt23ezohh righty, yes i see what you mean. Yea no the boys buy milk locally in the shop , if there stuck then it comes from the tank
very nice video and view
The price of fertiliser, feed etc going up and the price of a litre of milk going down. The problem with equipment is it needs constant supervision and maintenance.
True true, robots arnt a yoke that u set up and walk away from like , tis a common misconception like , and as u said tec costs money and when it goes wrong your kinda helpless and service charges arnt cheep
To be honest you do seem hands and willing to learn about the robot and that is necessary in order to keep things running smoothly as one cannot be calling out technicians all the time. I have heard horror stories about robots with regards to call outs and cows left there without being milked. It's serious technology.
What's her name? Buttons?
😂😂😂 your gas man
If the title was "How to maintain a robotic milking machine with a pin knife" you would get 1million views. Great video btw
Naill haha ya know somthing , your absolutely right, i would never have thought of that title in a million years. Gman 😋 cheers lad
