4 mile run??? When I was there in 1970, we ran 5 miles everyday for PT.

Not to alarm you, but all the 2.4L had their share of oiling system issues. My 2006 started to do this at 120K before she laid down. Then she let the rod bearing spin or just start knocking. I am thinking the VVT filter on the back of the block got stopped up on mine as the rod bearing was shreadding itself slowly. The vvt oiling system has a filter/screen. On the 2jz motors it was up under the intake manifold on the passenger side. Not easy to get to at all without a car lift at least. Or yanking the engine. When mine started acting up, it was like it couldn't find idle. Automatic cars have an idle relearn. The manuals transmission ECM do not. But seeing my oil was being littered with some bearing she failed eventually. But I drove that car 6400 rpm 80% of the time for 18 years. I have a 2.5L in a 2015 Colorado. Uses 5 quarts of oil per oil change. 2006 uses 3.5L with filter. So most likely for a manual transmission 5 quart oil pan would be good for $32.
