I disagree on the Bay area.. west end is beautiful, and there are a few rough neighborhoods, but the good outweighs the bad. West end homes close to the river are high value, and the people are really friendly. Lots of kids at the park playing basketball and even have an open community garden. Beautiful parks and greenspace, too. 😊😊

I have absolutely NO idea why people move to Ottawa. Even Federal workers who are from Ontario and work in Ottawa, move to Gatineau on the Quebec side to save money on rent and food. I pay 1200$ for a 2 bedroom apartment in the downtown touristy core of Quebec City. Utilities included. It would cost me that to get a small bachelor pad in Ottawa, or a bedroom in a shared apartment. I tried living in Ottawa just around COVID time... It was already much more expensive than just across the bridges. The same METRO grocery banner was 2X more expensive on almost everything, the rent was crazy for what you got, and the people were just too busy, trying to pay for everything, to have a life. Canada is a series of CHOICES. Your decision tree makes or breaks your stay here. Moving to Toronto, Vancouver, or Calgary now, is like saying OK' I want to pay more for less...!!! The WHOLE province of Ontario is overpriced to insane extremes. Same with places like Halifax, and even Edmonton, since so many people believed in the greatness of Alberta and moved there to become twice as poor. Ottawa has great museums, OK nightlife, white-collar jobs for the government, nice parks, and lots of protests... You NEED a car to get around because it's so stretched out and those buses are REALLY slow. But that is NOT what makes a city great... Being AFFORDABLE should be one of the if not the top priorities. I laugh when I hear people raving about Toronto and Vancouver, as LIVEABLE cities.. They ARE, if you are in the top 5% of earners in the country, otherwise, you SUFFER more than you have fun... If I moved, I'd go to St John NL, Montreal, New Brunswick, or rural Quebec.

Your information is so superficial as to be quite useless. According to you, the best areas are far outside the city; classic suburbia. Are these the areas where you have listings?

Do not move to Westboro regardless of who you are. In Westboro you will pay more for a tiny "luxury" 2 bedroom apartment condo than you will for a 2 bed + den/loft freehold townhouse in Kanata. In Westboro you will be harassed by homeless people who want money from you and you will witness drug addicts passed out on the street or puking on the sidewalk. In Westboro you will experience traffic gridlock throughout the day thanks to overpopulation and narrow streets. Ooooooh, but it has coffee shops /s

You are quite wrong about Carlington. This area has many highly educated people living in it . Consequently it has a very engaged community Association. Its central location near the hospitals and shopping centres makes it an attractive choice for many people. It is close to Carleton University and downtown by transit. The Veteran style neighbourhood are also great starter homes. it has Public, Catholic and Private elementary schools, A Jewish Community centre, and three high schools are close by. Some parts do have crime, but overall it is a good neighborhood.

There is a whole channel about moving to Nicaragua, lots of Canadian families do that. Sell your house, buy a much bigger one in Nicaragua and have excellent affordable and available health care and international schools.

Huge Asian community in Kanata Lakes. I wouldn’t be surprised if a new Chinatown develops eventually.
