Helio G99 processor. For ML, high framerate (around 60fps) and ultra graphics is decent. Occassional framedrops but doesn't really bother me. very playable. Sorry haven't tried it on HOK yet.

It is originally sold with 16GB total (2x8GB). Mine was upgraded to 32GB (2x16GB). As with most laptops, there are only 2 slots of RAM available.

@@datgameboy8902 my unit came in with 1TB NVME storage, which is enough for me for now. But there are 2 NVMe M.2 Gen4 x4 slots, so you can install another one should you be needing extra storage.

Thank you for your comment. RTX 3050 is a great budget gpu. I usually start with bottleneck calculators. From there I'd choose the CPU, then search some more how well they perform together from reviews. RTX 3050 is best paired with i7-11th or 10th gen, or even a Ryzen 5 5600 if you want to stretch some more budget. All the best on you budget build.

Thanks. Cooling system for this laptop is great. Compared to my previous gaming laptop, an HP Omen 15, the Helios 16 is way way cooler and quieter. Speakers are decent enough for a laptop, plus you have DTS X, where you can adjust equalization settings to get the exact sound you want.

Yes I think so too. And even if I successfully installed windows 11 LTSC, my old pc won’t be able to handle it well. Linux is still best for old hardwares.

@@Bender-official that's the thing. I've been experiencing large amount of frame drops as well. very much expected with old hardwares. I may have to tinker with browser settings and graphics driver further to reduce frame drops. If none of these works, probably adding a gpu could.

@@olemrockadoo you could try "h264ify" that is a browser plug in that forces the use of h264 codec on youtube instead of VP8/VP9 that might work better on older GPUs.

There’s no sensible justification for discarding fully functional hardware and purchasing a replacement unless it’s solely for the purpose of acquiring something new and contributing to the vendor’s and Microsoft's profits. No Microsoft or any big tech companies owns us. We can do anything with what we have. Switch OS without compromising your old hardware, our lives our choices.

I just put it in the scale for you. Unit is 5.7lbs and power brick is 2.3lbs. Total of 8 lbs or 3.6kg.

@@olemrockadoo Or you can actually remove it al together since it's not applicable and you don't need special software to do it.

@@n0nyabznss Yes you can do that, delete softwaredistribution folder files, then disable update to prevent windows from fetching them again. But what about other important updates, you'll be blocking them too. The show and hide tool is just a small portable app to hide any specific update you want, much easier than running powershell scripts which is also an alternative, if you really don't want a special software to do it.
