Just for interest's sake, I remove the lower PTO? cover on a Turner T5 300 series gearbox on a 1976 Bedford bus NFM / SB3 or SB-Series. Spline diameter 38mm, 23 splines, Spline grove length 40mm, exposed over spline shaft length 60mm. Gearbox details: Turner T5A 3056 gearbox built by TMC, the Turner Manufacturing Company Limited, Wolverhampton England.

Chinese diesel heater LCD displays become dimmer over time as the LED backlighting ages. In this video, we Hack an easy fix by hot-gluing an extra LED on the side of the LCD Light diffuser and solder it into the 5 volt and GND.

Update on the rebuild of the carby and setting the fuel mixture at idle. Also, I found out why the mixture at idle was always to lean and would cause "dieseling" or engine run-on, whereby the engine keeps running for a short period after being turned off, These carbs were used on Bedford 300 and 214 petrol 6 cylinder engines from about 1958 to 1967.

Just acquired a Bedford Comair SB3 (1964) Huge mission but it's in great condition. Your vids are invaluable, i am yet to even move it to my place and i have learnt so much. Would be beyond grateful for the opportunity to correspond. Finding out about the PTO is a real treat, thank you.

Gday bedford bus stuff! Im looking for a seal kit for one of these, any tips on where to look or who to talk to? Located in Victoria, Australia
I haven't looked for a seal kit for a number of years but last time I did look I couldn't find any. I think most of the seals are orings and are easy enough to find however there are a few bits in there that are possible unique to the valve. You could ask on the Australian classic truck forums on line , or at your old school tuck parts supplier. If you do find a supplier I would be interested to know. Another possibility is a new but different value as a drop in replacement. But this would involve some re-engineering of the mounts and push rods. But that sort of thing causes the compliance clip board huggers heads to explode. Good luck on your mission.

Is it possible to specify the LED used? Does the LED need to be a 5-volt LED? In other words, is it necessary to have a 900 MCD 5 volt LED, because I cannot find any. I can find 3,2 volt 900 MCD LED's, but no 5 volt ones. Many thanks!!!!
Gidday mate, love your vids - much easier than just going by the old service manuals. Have a KGL TK and want to strip the servo and master cylinder. Do you have a contact in NZ for the rebuild kits? Have found a servo kit on ebay, but no luck for the master cylinder yet. I haven't tried Lance Cryer yet. Cheers.
You could try www.toresleeve.co.nz/ they have done a lot of bedford brake cylinder re-sleeving over the years. If you give them the bits they are good at matching it for the seals but this is generally done when re-sleeving the bores. The air booster servo seals are likely available from seal specialist providers like www.sealinnovations.co.nz/ but you would have to spend some time searching there part lists and ensure the material or rubber type is compatible with oil. Its a bit of effort trying to find this stuff, Lance Cryer my be the best start as a one stop shop, he has likely already have a supplier he uses. Good luck with the TK.
Thanks for your reply. I've managed to track down a rebuild kit for the servo on eBay. I haven't stripped anything down yet and will contact re-sleeve nz for a price on the master cylinder. The original Bedford service manuals make for pretty dry reading and don't have many photographs so your vids make it a helluva lot easier, especially your tips. Thanks again, much appreciated.

I'm guessing when you open the valve on the gas tank, gas should not be escaping out of the air filter? I just installed a dual fuel carb and that's happening. I'm guessing the carb is defective.

I don't know any online places but a good brake repair specialists will make new custom brake hose to match your original sized hoses. I hope this helps , good luck.

She's a petrol
Some Bedfords were powered by the 400 Leyland ( in Australia at least ), but most were the 330, 466 and 500 cu in diesels. The petrols were the 214 and 300 cu in engines. I think from memory, the Leyland made 120HP and the 500 made about 140HP.
Good vid. Well, I wish everything I did would go that well! I have noticed that a 20lb lpg tank can run most generators for several hours more than gasoline. Good point regarding the LPG gas longevity. I need to go drain the swill from my generator one of these days. Godspeed!
How do you find the programmable ignition unit ? I just put one on a 4 litre Jeep AMC 6 cyl engine .

Hi Love the video, most informative. I'm about to upgrade my coach to air/hydraulics from vacuum/hydraulics as I've changed engine to one fitted with an air compressor. Could you tell me please if you have air tank reservoirs inbetween the compressor and the air master or do you feed the air from the compressor straight into the air master please? many thanks
