Brad Gobright was a stellar climber with a heart of gold. As a film student he honored me with an interview for the climbing documentary, "Ascent - The Life of A Climber" Thank you to my friend Steven Adams who composed and created the score for this tribute. Directed and Edited by Jessica Cisneros

"Ascent - The Life of a Climber" is a student documentary on the sport of rock climbing. It educates on different types of climbs, the safety risks involved, the climbing community, and the sport's expansion/ future involvement in the Olympics
Dirtbag to the core. Brad was a real one.
Blows me away when experienced climbers "rap" off the ends of their ropes for failing to tie large knots that cannot pass through their rap devices. First it was Jim Madsen in 1968 who rapped off the end of his rope on El Cap. Then one of my climbing pals in the 1970s rapped to his death off the end of his rope on the Glacier Point apron. Then several years ago a gal rapped off the end of her rope on the Snake Dike route on HD. Then Gobright rapped to his death off the end of his rope. I NEVER took rapping for granted in my climbing years. I was OCD about setting up a bomb proof rap. Rapping is probably the most dangerous aspect of roped climbing, only exceeded by free soloing.
rip
Brad was such a savage..rip🙏
An unsung hero. I fully related when hearing of his terrible diet like a croissants and doughnuts as fuel verses all these healthy eaters, this guy was a weapon running on garbage like myself xD
Only discovered this guy two days ago from watching a documentary, so sad to see he is dead ☘️☘️
I'm so happy that you made this, he will be missed so much. You go Brad you're amazing!
RIP legend
Very good advice to improve at anything, I’ll try it! Rest in peace
Still my favorite climber in the world. Love his bright soul. Rest easy.
RIP man You may be gone but never forgotten! Thanks for all the good chats in the valley. I'll always remember the first day I met you on the nutcracker haha Scrambling up that beautiful slab with you was a a good day! RIP Brad
Sad, the climbers who die are not practicing safe climbing. Gives climbing a bad name!
Got to spend a summer in Squamish with him and it was one of my best. Such a fun, self deprecating and hilarious human being! Missed day my so many I’m sure!
Every one of these climbers will fall to their deaths. I guess if that's how you want it to end, it's your choice. Just don't put first responders in harm's way because of your wish to do a bloody bounce down a mountainside. They don't want to die the way you do.
Most mountain search and rescue in the US is performed by volunteers who are themselves climbers.
You’re more likely to die in your car on the way to the climb
speed climbing seems needlessly dangerous anywhere outside a gym you can't even enjoy the scenery if you are racing up it
On alpine routes climbing very quickly can protect you from objective hazards. Also, Brad Gobright didn't die speed climbing, he died in a rappelling accident when his anchor failed.
Time to ask God for Mercy over my soul for when I die as everyone will
The threatening afterthought pivotally stretch because fear incidentally bruise since a impolite cause. earsplitting, distinct boundary
Dude? You okay? You need a neuro exam.
Nice tribute
To his friend and family I never met him but comes across as a lovely bloke. All the best to you all
He seems so rational and grounded here; hard to believe he made such a rash and risky decision to do a dual rappel on a single rope, that cost him his life. What was he thinking?
They didn’t tie stopper knots.
God bless you, Brad Gobright. I'm sure you are still adventuring in the great beyond🌟😪🌟
I don't climb anymore. I gave it up due to a baby on the way. I never met Brad but enjoyed his climbing and boldness. The bloke was not scared to go BOLD on gear. He was very underrated but I think that's how he liked it. The way he died should be a stern lesson to all who know his story. I pray his heart knew Christ. I hope his family is able to find peace. God bless
So if he didn’t happen to be a Christian, what, you don’t think he’d get to go to heaven? Get outta here with your evangelizing. This isn’t the forum for that.
@@YogSoth I will say what I like and you will do absolutely nothing about it.. I'm sorry Jesus bothers you. It's because of your own convictions you feel the need to say what you said. But those are your insecurities and convictions bothering you. So it makes you feel better about your false belief to "try" and put me down in which you have been unsuccessful. I would pray you know Him as well. Now I'm sure you have some insult or last word you have to say to fill your self-worth for the day so let fly. God bless mate.
Engineer. I thought the same thing about Brad. Hope he knew Christ. It’s a burden we carry for folks.
An amazing person.RIP Brad
Safety first kids........
These people are fools using the Lord's name in vain not very smart. Stupid goals have very real out comes he was truly a moron
It seems impossible but after all someone like him who gives meanings to silence ... they never die never never remain alive because they also have a single light in them 🌹❤️
Climbing is less fun without Brad Gobright doing it.
I don't know Brad Gobright, I never met Brad Gobright, I only heard about him after he died, but I miss him.
🤣😅😂
The best climber no one's ever heard of. Was so sad to hear he died. I still tell people about him all the time
Thank you
Motivating thank you and for the tribute of Brad Gobright . Inspiring

RIP BRAD!
Had this feeling when I saw he was born '88, and I looked it up and he was born the day after me. Yet our lives went so differently.
