Making a Simple Punch Die for the Shop Press
Can this be used for slowing down feed and such of a running program?
Hey really enjoyed your video, looking to make something very similar. Could you tell me what model Uni Punch your using, and also what size shop press? thanks very much Kent.
Can you make me a die?
At 3:00 you’re testing hole fitment with a gauge pin; are you gradually upsizing that by changing the hole size in the gcode directly or are you using another type of command? Thank you!
Basically, actually, obviously add nothing. Stop with the basically!
From what I could find most 12 volt power packs put out .68 gpm
Looks to me you forgot the tool offset on the x axis.
Give me phone no
This isn't a good advertisement for this Chinese product is it ? I mean this conversion kit should not have been necessary had PLASTIC gears NOT been used in it's manufacture, as the old saying goes, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Now we can appreciate hail damage! It doesn't take much. (make the upper and lower out of ice and give that a shot!)
Proof that you can never have too many tools - However the tool shed can be too small..
Another great video. Keep it up. To make good quality spot welds you have to make the welding electrodes to be coaxial when the welding materials are between the electrodes & the proper clamping force is applied. Sparking is not normal and could be dangerous ( proper protective gear is a must ). The factory supplied upper tong end has to be bent more to get coaxial with the bottom end. It is obvious that for every thickness of welded materials you will have to use different diameter / length welding tips & set up their alignment individually. A timer is also a must for good quality spot welds. There are timers with welding time compensation. These are monitoring the welding current and adjusting the welding time accordingly
How long did it take to make?
Can you adjust the speed?
Hey, my favorite steel is PD#1 (Punch & Die #1) analogous to cruwear or the old spectrumwear.
Looks like you could give yourself more surface area making contact with your guides when cutting if you did the center notch first then the knock off the 45s Awesome set up! My son and I are building motorcycle parts out of our garage and we find we have to make a lot of tooling
Have you tried a power supply from 120v to12v to eliminate the battery that’s what I’m using for my wench in my shop
We are trying to manufacture the Piper Airplane Ashtrays in our haas Cnc and we are having a hard time with the programming
None of my Craftsman taps have a hole.
What is your cnc conversion equipment called?
Why is it so freakishly expensive ? 270 dollar for this easy to produce piece of metal
thanks!
good work
great job
The flare that you was talking about, leave the thickness of material on that edge rather than a sharp 45 degree and it will cure that "Flare".
😂
how is the radius results ? I mean you gave 5 mm raduis and it cuts how much different ?? there is an offsett 1.63 mm on the knife. what is its effect ?
What stepper drivers are you using?
Painfully to many ah ahh ahh ahhhh ahhhh ahhhh
Nice upgrades to shop and shear.
Did you install a flow divider in your system? Thanks.
Just saw your video about the hydraulic shear. What size of tie rod cylinder did you use or stoke size.
Beautiful video
Are you selling a product or just a job shop?
We sell products. We don’t do any job ship work
@@craigsmachineshop2040 Where would I find your product?
WOW! What amazing growth and progress! You have been super busy. Great to see all the innovation and your approach to organization, lean, etc. Do you have a link to your website?
Thanks! Yeah, it was a busy year. 😅. Sorry, I have been reluctant to talk about our products for concern of competition.
@@craigsmachineshop2040 If you don't talk about them how do you sell them?

Craig, thanks for showing us your set up! It’s really neat to see how other small businesses are set up. I have a motorcycle parts line that is a very similar operation.
Thanks! That’s cool. I was an electrician for years but I find manufacturing far more interesting.
This is my first time viewing one of your videos, nice work by the way. What do you manufacture?
I was wondering the same thing. A product video or a link to the website would be great.
Welcome and thanks! Electrical covers
I have been hesitant on going into too much detail about our products for fear of competition.
Cool production setup.
Thanks!
Awesome to see lean approach in a tiny production workshop!
Thanks, it’s a lot of fun implementing it! It’s great to see the time savings and ease of work.
If you are looking for a shear, you might chat with Gary Ramsey. @ramseycustoms. He imports them and has installed a ton of them around the country. His commissioning and and training are top notch. BTW. your operation has been growing!!! Awesome to see.
👍😎👍
Thanks for the update and all the best for 2024 👍
Thanks, same to you!
Thanks for the update, Craig. It's really great to see a family business growing. Maybe you should film short videos that don't need to be edited. That might give you an opportunity to share some more details without spending as much time. YT shorts maybe?
Thanks, it’s great to have a family business and getting them all involved! Good idea, I will have to give that a try.
Great tour! It has been fun watching your progress. Maybe someday you could do a summary video of your products. Thanks for sharing details of things like your shipping system. Any thoughts you could share later on snagging steel for home projects would be appreciated!
Hey, a familiar face😊. Thanks! I’ve been kind of hesitant to do so from fear of competition. The only thing I can think of is drops from a local metal store. Maybe OfferUp?
@@craigsmachineshop2040 Good point! Thanks for the metal snagging tips. I really like your "bootstrapping" approach. It is good to invest in yourself and your family.
Congratulations on your continued growth. I assume because you kept saving 'we' that means you have hired or partnered with someone. I wish you continued success.
Thanks! We meaning the family. lol. 2 of us are full time and 3 are part time.
where is the tormach?
Hey Jason! Covered in chips and coolant I think. Lol. The 770 is still chugging along. Not as fast as his big brother though.
Only problem is you're missing a Break room.. ((Smile)) Nice! Thankyou for the tour!
The hydraulic shear is the break room. lol. 😂. Spilled a little salsa on it once. 😁
LOL!! Duly noted! Thanks :) @@craigsmachineshop2040
Great to see you still doing videos and shop updates. You were one of the few I was watching years ago that helped me decide to buy a Tormach 770 S3 and do a shower curtain enclosure. I'm still using it and it's still making me money and fun projects. I've added a few tools and a 14x40 lathe since then. Doing a little more work from home in my shop every year. Working from my shop from home will hopefully soon be my "slowdown career" which is shaping up to not be much of a slowdown but at least the commute is only 30 seconds! :) . You have got a lot bigger concern going at your home shop than I do so far. I really believe in the way you do things, cost effectively in a perfectly good environment at home where you have control of everything. It's awesome.
Wow, that’s awesome! Can’t beat the warm fuzzies that you helped someone out in some way. I’ve been wanting to get a lathe but haven’t been able to justify it. Maybe one of these days. Sounds like a great idea! I still have another 10 years till retirement. It’s hard to see how the business will go but I figured I might make videos of small machining projects and charity work with my wife. Yeah, I don’t miss the commute and love a warm lunch at home. 🍲 Thanks, I have learned most of that from others on RUclips. Lol.
The flare up its normal, u can make a smal slip in the corners or u got special dye check out rolleri presbrake dye. Verry Nice build.!!!
Yeah, I have been eyeing those recently. Maybe later this year.
Looks like the conversion is successful . Thanks for the video.
Thanks, it just got a hydraulic pump upgrade which I covered in the latest video.
