    Also orientaion/navigation XYZ is awkward. Frustrating. Everithing from the very beginning MUST BE orientated in one particular way, otherwise tools and functionalities will show constantly display "Unknown Error". A suddeltly after restart, some tools start to work correctly. The script is full of errors.

    I don't get part "closed" path working with the curve. Impossible. It refused to close it. Error. I created several paths with the same error. Answer: It has to be in so called the same "world orientation" I is very difficult to work out.

      @@Stuff-3D-creations Export nGins at very hi res as many times as possible, then check it, sometimes you can have clear mesh.

    I am dissapointed with Plasticity output files, also some tools don't work correctly. Basically, after exporting as a OBJ file to any polygonal software there are lots of mistakes I geometry, cleaning it up, is almost impossible, and when you render it the surface is full of bad relections.

      It seems like Plasticity's output files are trying out for a role in a horror movie with all those bad reflections! Let’s hope they get a script rewrite soon!

    Unfortunately,Palsocity is a bity dissapointing, after export files are mostly useseless for poly rendering. Lot of tool, shorcut simply don't work correctly following most of tutorial nearly 30% of them are working.

    Whatever I export as OBJ to Modo, becames solid non editable object. I tried various setting with no results.

      Export it as N-gons, obviously it require some work to make it an AAA game asset.

      Now, I found that using exported Plasticity OBJ files leave a visible wireframes trace on objects (covered with material or color, It is unacceptable. Blender has no problem with such OBJ files and makes them smooth and clean somehow. I used several older Modo version 11, 12, 13 etc with the same outcome.

    Unfortunately, it is for me usless file, none of the created element in Plasticity is editable after exporting, they are just floating objects. I tried over 10 various export versions into Modo. I can create ith 10 times faster in Modo, from scratch. Offset Face has a bug, after imprinting curves it refuses to separate the central lens part. I modelled whole skeleton, but cannot do much with it.

      @@Stuff-3D-creations The problem is that with Plasticity you have to export and clean up a lot of mistakes in poligons, remove useless edges, also Plasticity skeleton curve build principle requires totally different approach. It is this worth if to spend lot of time to learn it? Some shortcuts work randomly, and lot of bugs as well. It will take another few versions to polish and develop Plasticity for smoother workflow. This is a totally different world.

    Hi there! The tip of the airplane is a circle in your case because you modeled the A380 using the A330-900 NEO, reference image. A380 is oval. Cheers!

    I use Modo, and starter Plastisity. However after few years I noticed that Modo renderings are very artificial. A bit like illustration, rather than photo realism. Compared with other 3D software rendering.

    It doesn't look like the surface wants to match with the multiple cross sections. Rhino averages surfaces when there is no precise contact between sections and guides, but Plasticity is more problematic; If there is no coincidence, the surface does not work and gives an error... so, why does the surface not coincide with the sections and guides?

      It works perfectly fine on my end. Just follow the cross sections exactly as shown in the video, and it will work like a charm.

    For me it's the small things with barely any workaround that makes the transition more painful. Like when you select a list of objects in the outliner and move them to a new collection any hidden object in that selection will not be included for some reason. And reimporting meshes duplicating their materials with a ".001" suffix, making round trips to apps like marvelous and rizom super cumbersome.

    I think, that 9 years ago you were at the same point with Modo. Every software has different behaviors and techniques! I was modeling 10 years in Maya and 3DS Max. Because of the high price of licenses, I downloaded Blender. After launching Blender I was disappointed like you. It tooks 1-3 years to reach the same level as in maya, but now I'm really happy with Blender. I use also Plasticity but the import in Blender is still a bit a pain in the ass.

      I totally get it. Just wanted emphasize that Switching 3D software can feel like a monumental task. It's like constructing a skyscraper only to tear it down once you reach the top.

    There is an addon called the Dynamic Context Menu. Its basically the maya space bar, it consolidates most of the menues you will need down into one spot. It does take a bit to understand where various menus are located. The search menu is a great help for finding tools and commands it will show you the hotkey and menu path to find it. The learning curve is very steap in the begining but smooths out once you learn how to navigate, move stuff and learn roughly where to find stuff.

    It's hard to switch, because every program has its own workflow, you can force blender to be modo because it's not modo, took me months to understand maya coming from blender and I still can't get used it, funny Enough houdini is the easiest for me to adapt because it's entirely different workflow because I don't expect Houdini to be blender

      Absolutely! Focus on one thing and become a master at it. Don't give up on it unless you have a valid reason to do so. This approach has been the most beneficial decision I've ever made.

    Hello Modo Team, I've been using Modo for years, and I believe my first experience was with Modo 601 when it was under Luxology. We have to be realistic-Blender has greatly impacted our community by attracting a significant number of artists. The fact that Blender is free doesn't mean it's actually free. When we consider the cost of addons, we realize that Modo is essentially "free software" too. Thanks to everyone who develops Modo, but if we look at how quickly Blender is evolving, Modo doesn't stand a chance in the coming years. People don't remember it anymore. Newcomers don't encounter it on RUclips as they do with Blender and Plasticity (a hybrid of SolidWorks, Moi3D, Modo, and Blender). Nothing special there. My frustration is immense. It only remains for Foundry to announce they're discontinuing the project, leaving us to fend for ourselves. It seems they don't intend to invest in new advanced tools like HARDOPS and BOXCUTTER, Decal/Mesh Machine/Machin3. I would like someone responsible for Modo's decline to address this and share their thoughts. I know many people follow you who are involved in marketing and development. My question is: Is there anyone responsible for simplifying modeling in Modo as many in the Blender community are doing?

      Are you talking about direct modeling? I personally find it quite simple and straightforward. In Modo, all you really need to grasp are the fundamental tools to kickstart your modeling journey. However, delving into meshOps and its non-destructive workflow may take some time to fully grasp. When it comes to creating new advanced plugins or integrating existing ones (of which there are plenty), I wholeheartedly concur with your sentiments.

I know how to use the Modo tools, but I think we should borrow some features from the competition to speed up and simplify the process. I watch your tutorials, and they are really good. A coffee or some drink always goes well with a GURU master like you or Richard Yot. When I have time, I also watch Blender Bros (if you haven't watched them, they are really good and innovative).

    The fact that you can't just drag different mesh filetypes into the viewport infuriates me. You have to go through the specific file importer seems so lame.

      Yeah that's a bit disappointing. Refs should go in front view automatically, no matter which view we're in when importing them. However, it's nice Blender, I am killing time.

    lol nice video, feels a bit satiristic but i had the exact same experiance last time I tried Blender :P. Its so painfull to learn another 3D software, and takes a lot of time to get all the menues, buttons, shortcuts, workflows in to your muscle memory. I used Blender for 4 days last time to learn the basic controlls and stuff, but 2 weeks later I cant remeber anything :P My goal now is to see if there is a specifik part of my workflow that is so much better for me in Blender or with a plugin that can replace a task. I do mid poly stuff in Unity and some renders. I love Modo so no switching for me, hope I atleast can become friends with Blender one day.

      With a plethora of 3D software out there, it can be challenging to choose the right one. However, for me, Modo fits my needs perfectly. After dedicating years to mastering Modo, I find it hard to transition to another 3D software package. It just wouldn't be a wise decision.
