Same as mine but i try swapping the coils but still 1&4 cylinder not hot as the 2&3 so its not the coil for my case right??

My idle is worse then that. It goes really low then really high

if failing, you will have inconsistent experiences, and they may not keep up with the higher rpms and seem fine with the lows. i rode on bad coils/harness for 2 years and didnt know. the extra power was greatly appreciated. humidity tends to make the coils with holes misfire leaving white needle point burn marks.

my r6 is also having this issue, does your bike also smell extremely rich? did your rpms steady after keeping it above 4k rpm? Im a little worried its something more than coils

I have 2 denso coils and 2 idk what brand, denso 129700 3881, my zx9r sounds like a tractor, at below 2.6k rpm. planing to change all 4 with manual stock coils. I hope i get rid of this low rpm stutter and rough Harley like idle.

Hey everyone. I did this little video trying to explain what's going on with the bike but you can't real tell from it, and audio is also crap so long story short: it's got no neutral light on the clock, it's got considerable amount of exhaust blow -by from the cranckcase breather, it revs to redline in neutral anf also in 1st gear till around 10000 rpm but from the 2nd up it won't go above 4000rpm, it boggs out.seems like it wants to go but something won't let her. When in gear if I pull the clutch it immediately dies and it's very hard to start it or for it to even sustain an idle when in neutral. It was running fine for the first couple of weeks when I bought it but after taking it to servicing the guy gave it back to me saying a cylinder liner must have cracked. I just don't buy this, l mean, what would be the odds of that happing in the shop? It's been to other 2 mechanics and they all say the same, I just don't believe it. I do hear the fuel pump clicking when I turn on the key. Can this be a carb issue? Bad coils? A faulty fuel pump? Or a actual engine failure? Anyway, much appreciate if someone can give me their opinion.

Yes. . . My bike is doing this. Under 8k rpm it sputters then catches power. Then sometimes it goes an just 0 power.

When you rode the bike was it vibrating Badley aswell?

I just bought the same bike and everything and it doing exactly what you’re describing right there I just bought the bike I know nothing about it I found the fuel filter clogged so I thought the fuel pump might be bad so I ordered one but I don’t know I’m sitting here I can ride on the bike just fine but once I give it throttle it falls flat on his face like misfiring I just replaced all of the spark plugs I didn’t think about the coils being bad

My r6 idle great all cylinders are running but when I Cruze at like 6k or 8 k rpm it kinda sounds like vroom vroom vroom like the revs bounce a lil bit is that normal lol it still has full power

Mines doing the same. But was down for a good year or so fixing other stuff. Coils ohms were good, new ngks, new fuel pump, cleaned out fuel system(rail, injectors, hoses), going to check ground wiring and wires. 🤦🏻‍♂️ cylinder 2 and 4 aren’t igniting. Swapped plugs...

Sounds and acts exactly like mine. About to take it to a shop and now have a pretty good idea what's in store. Thanks for the video

Im having a somewhat similar problem with my 2008 r6r. It runs rough under 3k and sorta bucks @ pulling out but runs fine after 3k and no issues in 2 gear and up.. Does this sound similar to your experience? Please contact me asap. Thanks!

My 01 FZ1 is weird. It will turn over then backfire, But never start. I unplugged the relay and the fuel pump actuated, then it did the same thing. I am at a loss. I think I am going to just replace the entire ignition (Module ,coils& plugs)

Your idle is WAY too low....should be between 1,300-1,500 rpm and your temperature is WAY too high! I have an '04 R6, it never gets over 102-104 degrees when idling....when riding, it is between 80-95 degrees. I replaced the ignition coils and plugs in mine....didn't really need it done but they were original and 15 years old, HUGE difference in performance!! Try "Engine Ice" as a coolant, probably the best on the market to keep engine temp down. Flush engine out with, "distilled water" first though. After doing that, if the idle is still low...check your idle adjustment screw on the right side, located where your knee would rest....turn it clockwise to increase the idle when engine is warm.

This sucks on Yamaha bikes! I'v a Warrior xv1700. Called Yamaha garage about something unconnected, they said there was a (old) pickup coil recall, get my bike in as it's a free replacement. Since they'v dun the coil swap bike sounds rough, loads of vibration! They can't see any problem! :/

You can call a Yamaha dealership and check if your bike has had the recall done with a vin check

I know my 03 r6 had coil problem and if i recall there were two different ones for like a mid year change and i bought the wrong set the first time. And it ran but worse than original. I just got a 00 r6 today that supposedly has low compression he said. Im gonna mess with it tomorrow and see. Hope its coils lol

Can someone please explain what he is saying at 2:05 onwards. Can't hear with the bike engine. i have the exact same problem with my yamaha r6 2003.

I have to say I don't agree with buying used. I used to buy used all the time because its cheaper, however with my latest experience this is not the best option especially if you have a used peace of machinery. I have a 1993 Yamaha vmax that was having the same issue. after spending about 2000 to have mechanics tell me that its the carbs that is the problem I took it to one of my friends who works on cars and bikes for fun, he was able to look through and found that it was the ignition coils. now my coils were really expensive to get new at that time so I got used ones and he installed them. they are a bitch to get to and he warned me that because they are used he doesn't know how long they will last. after a month of good performance it started having the same issue and I put it away for a while because my friend was busy. finally I got fed up and decided to tear it down and see for myself what was wrong and I found that they coils I got where no good. that is why I would recommend buying new. so that you know what is working and what is not.

hopefully some one can help me but i have a 2007 Yamaha R6S i got it from a dealer it has 9k miles and they said they put a new battery in it but about 4 days later i got on and road down the block pulled over sent a text left the key in the on position & it wouldn’t start. i was like damn the battery but then a few days later i’m coming to a stop and it died & then again & i revved it at a stop to see if it would stall and sure enough it did. so i’m very confused. my idle is around the same as yours under the 1k mark but it doesn’t hop around, any suggestions ? please and thank you

My 2000 r1 my tps sensor was bad and i put one i tested the resistênçe and the coils are good but the number 1 colector is colder than the rest and i think its because the tps terminals has contact problems

Same problem, it jumps on idle and when I get on the throttle it stutters and bogs big time (and sounds like an R3) but the more it warms up the better it gets which tells me it's not the coil and tells me it's the plugs in my bike. I cleaned the plugs and found one was actually loose lol. After I did that it ran great after a quick warm up but now it's doing it again so I'm gonna change the plugs and see if that works. Hopefully I don't have to change the coils. Don't feel like dumping 80-100 bucks in new coils lol

There is a much more accurate way to find out if your coils are stuffed. Buy a cheap multimeter (they're handy for a lot of jobs) and connect to the power and earth wire on each coil. It should read around four or five ohms (check your manual). If thats okay then leave one lead of the multimeter on the coil and stick the other lead into the plug on the corresponding cylinder and it should read around 20ohms (again check your manual). The latter check will tell you if your leads/plugcaps are okay
