@AaronReadABook I did really enjoy Katherine. It was a great historical fiction. I just know there are so many other books i want to read and won't be re-reading. Yes I have heard amazing things about his Arthur trilogy and that it is one of if not the best one out there. I definitely feel i will love his writing and storytelling. Very excited to pick up "Uthred son of Uthred" in the Last Kingdom 😃💜📚

@novellenovels 😆😆😆 it will be coming - ranting is very therapeutic for me! I loved the first Tilly book as a love letter to reading, and I am enjoying the books as fun, cosy whimsey adventures, but they are not my favourite fantasy. I think it's because i like a full circle narrative where things that have happened previously we come back to and how it affected or changed the story now. Whereas we seem to be moving further and further away and having fresh magic, places, villains as we move on to the next adventure. Hurricane child you will enjoy but to quote an Emily classic "it will break you inti a million pieces" 💜💜📚

@sarahdale7668 Jamie is just a top tier book - love them!!! Yes this is absolutely how I felt. I am going to be doing a dedicated review...eventually. I think I see why she started with that interview, because for people who know little to nothing about trans community or stories, Jesse is the most binary and one people with 0 knowledge could appreciate the most. She then presets a AMAB transwoman and the final 3 and the extra story were more reflective and not "put me in this binary box". The language was more like what we use now. So for non trans people learning about trans community with 0 knowledge I see it as an ease in gently. But i agree with ALL your points. It made me very uncomfortable. So i think it is important that it is made clear Jesse's experience and language is unique to him, he's also young, and is probably still on his journey. I have just finished He, She, They by Schuylar Bailar and he really goes in depth and touches on some of these points in his own story about being treated like this and calling them out. Definitely think you will enjoy that one as it is more expansive and touches on areas i have not read before such as internal transphobia. How to be an ally and trans people in sports. 💜📚

@spreadbookjoy 😆😆😆 i did DNF a book today it was soooooo meh, but Exile has excellent material for me to rant away to my hearts desire. Yes when the mood strikes Amari and Stormlight are excellent fabtasy continuations. Pages and Co is cosy fun, but I did prefer the 3rd to the 2nd. It can easily be a stand alone as well. Glas Salty Jack is not out as clearly you are reading excellent books 👍💜📚

@@ChattieTheMadChatter tbh I’m still not reading a huge amount but that does mean I am steering clear of anything that doesn’t engage me. Some are just DNFY rather than out right DNFs but also haven’t found anything that has consumed my attention fully.

@spreadbookjoy oooh that is tricky and can feel like a tough spot to be in. Maybe a re-read/ comfort read whilst you work out which books are calling to you. Hope you have found one now 💜📚

@OliviasCatastrophe i think Emma is definitely one that grows on you as on a re-read you know where her chatacter is going and appreciate the arc and nonsense, whereas my first read it was definitely- why is she awful? Why is she making that choice? 😆 Yes I didn't love Kòkú but enjoyed it alot and hope it keeps getting stronger. Enjoyed the world building. Definitely need to hear which Middlegrade Fantasy you have been reading that made Kòkú not as fun by comparison 😃👂🦻🍿 I know if only Typhoon had stayed with village gossips or has better main character arcs it would have worked more. So thrilled to have read Solitare and City of Brass - loving Daevabad so much! Your recommendation was spot on 💜📚

Cultural appropriation brilliantly done. LGBT Q+ rep felt really natural in the flow of the story, part of her life but not defining. Very compelling, flew through it and loved the characters.
