When you apply for your leisure do you fill out a new passport form or is it a renewal? There is a question that asks if you already have a passport and I would think that the answer would be yes to that. But then the form wants you to do a renewal… Any help here would be appreciated.
You didn’t push your bed against the walls to maximize the space. If you put a massive bed in the middle of a small room, it will immediately feel small. But great video

How did you get a home at Foster when the secondary option for McT is Kadena? I ask bc we would love to get a home at Kadena, but someone sent us a sheet stating secondary option was Kinser. Would you say Foster is better than Kadena?
Hello. Im an American tuning in from Ebina city, Kanagawa Prefecture. Good video. I have lived in Japan for many years. When I was a DOD SOFA ( NAF ) employee at Kadena AB and Camp Zama Army base; I use to drive. For safety reasons! I had to stop driving because Im an alcoholic. Anyway! I agree with you. Driving in Japan ( from Okinawa to mainland Japan ) is definitely a unique experience. As you stated! Alot of roads and side roads are very narrow and 2 way lanes. I also agree with! Japan ( mainland ) has one of the best public transportation system in the world. Trains and buses are very convieuant and are an excellent option choice to travel around if you choose not to drive.

Thank you very much for a great video. I’m assigned to go to Okinawa(Kadena AFB) I’m planning to bring my chihuahua, but I don’t know what to do with 180 days quarantine. Do you know if I must fly with military airplane only or I can fly other airlines? If I fly with other airlines, how could I even go through the custom? There is no way i could quarantine my dog in the America for 180 days because I received my assignment like last week 😢
How did this work out for you? We want to bring our cats to Japan but we don't have 180 days of waiting time before we're supposed to move. I'm so worried!

Only on orders!! But yes you can. You can’t use it to travel around the world other than the US

Thank you for posting this video! I've been looking all over for resources about PCSING to Okinawa with my family and frenchie. I got with TMO about securing a spot for my dog in cabin however the dimensions are throwing me off since he can't go in cargo because of his snubbed nose. I'm having a hard time finding a soft carrier for him that 8.5in height I see other carriers that around 9.5 and up. Do you know by chance a brand? or if TMO has some brands of carriers they suggest. I'm looking on Amazon and I'm having no luck and TMO of course won't answer calls. I can get the 9.5-11.5in in height carrier, I'm thinking because it can be pushed down to meet the requirements I shouldn't have a problem but I don't want to risk the chance.
Hi Chayya. Did you ever get an answer? I'm in the same boat. My dog is a frequent in-cabin flyer in the US with a soft shell kennel that's 18x11x11. I've never had an issue but with the AMC measurements, I'm a bit concerned I'll be turned away when I show up for my Patriot Express flight.
@@782meme hey unfortunately not from the RUclipsr but when I talk to TMO they said they are pretty strict on the requirements which made me panic a lot more obviously because I can't find a carrier that small for my dog. So I decided to fly commercial with him it's the best thing for me right now. I'll pay for my tickets with my GTC card and pay out of pocket for my frenchie which is only like $200. The other choice I also looked at was a carrier service but seeing those prices I was like that's a lot of money,but I'm still thinking about it since I don't know exactly what to do once I get it Japan as far where I need to go and what not.
@@ChayyaBee I just bought a size down which is 10.5 inches, but I'm just going to pray they accept it when I arrive since its a soft shell. I'm flying out of the UK and they just made it mandatory that we fly on the rotator. And in the UK commercial pets aren't allowed in cabin at all. I think I may schedule a back up shipper just in case I'm turned away and have to fly her commercial on her own. Ohhh the stress!

I finally made a decision to fly commercial but right before I purchased tickets with my dog I found out the airlines that take us to Okinawa from Tokyo don't allow dogs in cabin and one of they specifically said no frenchies 🥴. So now I'm back on a rotator with a spot for him. Still looking for the perfect carrier but from what I've heard they said as long as it can be pushed down you should be fine . Hopefully everything works out for both of us

Did they hang off the sides of the roller? According to the descriptions, there’s a 3” difference in the 2 and I just want to make sure overhang won’t be an issue.

It is not officer housing but it is a floor plan that officers can get. This house is a SNCO house on MCT but the floorplan is very common on the entire island for all ranks that rate a 4 bedroom home!

Does the marine Corps allow full weight of HHG and express shipments? We were extremely limited in 2006-09
Yes - you rate the entire allowance to come to Japan now! For the Express shipment, the general rule is that if it is under 1,000 lbs it is flown by air. Otherwise it comes on the slow boat which could be just as long as your HHG (Months). So be mindful when you pack that to keep it below 1,000 including the packing materials.
Yes. You rate full shipment or you can store some.

Does your American appliances work? Do you have to use converters?
On base, all of your american appliances work. Off base, many of them need a converter. Base will provide you with 2 converters to rent while you are here.
What is the weight limit for the black bins on the Patriot Express?
The weight limit for any bags on the PE is 70 lbs per item!
Were the containers in place of bags? So instead of getting bags checked, you checked bins?
Is your entire floor plan 1100sq ft?
Yes - It's small.. I mean homey! But yes - 1100 sq ft for 4 bedrooms!

Just wanted to thank you for the information! It was so helpful and I’m glad I watched it before I started my screening to join my husband who is already stationed in Japan. My original pcm was at the Air Force base by me and when I went to schedule my physical and stuff I asked about the differences and if I should just try to go to the Navy base near by. The paperwork would have been completely different than what I actually needed done since my husband is in the Marines. Thankfully there’s a Navy base like 15 minutes away from the Air Force base so I was just able to switch my pcm. But I am super thankful to you for saving me so much of a headache. Plus the soonest appointment would’ve been at least 3 weeks out where as the Navy base fit me in a couple days later.
The process doesn't have to be this hard - I don't know why we are doing this over and over but for them, it seems like it is the first time they have ever experienced this! They have got to do better for our military families!
Hey! I would love the link for the cart you used. Also were traveling soon with two cats and you said the plane was really cold. Did you have a blanket in with your cat or did you wrap the soft carrier in a blanket on the floor? With how long the flight is did you line the carrier with a potty mat or anything? Ive been trying to figure out what our game plan is and your situation seems pretty similar to ours. Thank you!
It was VERY cold but our cat carrier had a fuzzy lining in it so I think he was okay - If your feet are cold, your pet might be cold too so bring some of those easily foldable fleece blankets from the $1 store if you are worried about them!

Hi this was so helpful! You’re big bins with the yellow top. You said you zip tied them closed. Do they not check your luggage? So zip tying them closed is allowed?
Hi Kristin - We did zip tie them closed then duct taped extra zip ties to the top in the inside in case they cut them to look in there. I used bright colored duct tape to tape them so they would see them. None were used though. We went from Denver to Seattle then the Patriot Express. We also made labels with our contact info and put it on the bins in case they got lost since they didn't have luggage tags on them. The commercial airlines attached a sticky tag to the box and seattle had a label we put through the holes - apparently their print system was down!
So two questions: Your blanket, did they consider that a carry on? I’m planning on bringing a carry on bag plus a backpack, will they be ok if I have a blanket too? Also, did they serve alcohol on the flight? This question is very important as I need to mentally prepare if not 😅
If you wrap it around your neck like clothing, you would be good either way. Fleece is a great option because you can roll it really small into a book bag. No alcohol on the flight. I have 3 kids. I had the same question. You can buy alcohol in Yokota at the tent outside of the trailer/terminal. The Japanese Kirin is something like 8 or 9%. I got lemon. It was light, refreshing and cold - you need cold there because you're outside in the middle of concrete and there's not enough room in the air conditioned trailer. So get you a nice cold, refreshing lemon beer! Best of luck on your travels!

Why does it have that barracks room feel? I'm assuming for island functionality.
They are built to withstand Typhoons and Earthquakes. It is very sterile feeling but I am sure it will feel and look like a home once our belongings get here!
