For Romulans, the kit and Rmor work well as they have crit and crit damage. Plus they have bonus to plasma damage which works well with plasma weapon soecialist. Stack that with kit performance and the vger probes out in work. Also trajectory bending is a great module as it makes all your shots flanking ones. The plasma mining laser makes this great for clearing rooms and setting everything on fire.

Words...fail me. Mainly due to laughing. And yes, controllor also messes up in certain cutscenes. I have no idea why.
