Riding Scooters along the Amalfi Coast in Italy
It started out as just a fun idea, but my friends and I made it a reality. We escaped the cold dark times in Seattle to ride scooters along the Amalfi Coast in Italy. This may seem like a simple story, but it was an important moment in my life. Good friends, a beautiful destination, and the adventure of a ride. I feel extremely fortunate to have such amazing and supportive friends and to be able to take a trip like this. My life has changed a lot over the last few years, and I'm glad for the changes, and I am glad that I can share this story.

Snowy Grand Park - Mt. Rainier National Park
Просмотров 733 года назад
It is the very end of the season here in Washington, so I decided to push my luck and try to make it back out to Grand Park in Mt. Rainier National Park (one of my favorite hikes) before the snow shut me out. I was lucky enough to bring my oldest friend along for the trip. It was an amazing experience, even better than I though it would be.

How I dealt with the PNW Heatwave (104°F) - Grand Park via Eleanor Lake
Просмотров 503 года назад
There was a massive heatwave in the Pacific Northwest, with temperature well above 100°F, that shattered high temp records three days in a row. So in the middle of the unrelenting heat, I decided to hike a popular destination in Mt. Rainier National Park. This was my first time hiking this National Park, and its beauty blew me away.
Trail Condition & Decision Making - Cold Creek Trail Loop
Просмотров 183 года назад
This video is a little different. I started off recording like this would be a normal shared hiking experience video, but it evolved into something else. I tried to capture trail conditions and the challenges they offer, as well as my decision making process. There is a lot of risk when hiking solo, especially on unfamiliar trails. In the video you get to see my process for dealing with conditi...

First Time In North Cascades - Diablo Lake Trail
Просмотров 5383 года назад
This was my first time in the North Cascades Nation Park and it was just as good as everyone had said. I decided to give this park a try (even though it is about two and a half hours away from Seattle) because I have been locked out of the mountains in my area for weeks now due to winter weather warnings. And my first little hike in the park gave me a sample of its beauty and potential. I am lo...
I Found the Surprise - Surprise Lake Snowshoe Hike
Просмотров 1593 года назад
Well Surprise Lake certainly had a "surprise" for me to find, but even with that, I think it was a great hike. The first 3 miles are pretty easy going with the trail just becoming more beautiful with every step. From there the climb up to the lake basin was a bit of a slog. I don't think this would be the case in warmer months when you can follow the correct trail, but the trail in the snow pre...
Hiking: Ira Spring Trail on the Nicest Winter Day
Просмотров 1833 года назад
I hadn't hiked the Ira Sping Trail since early summer, but I'm glad I returned to see how the hike changed with the addition of snow and ice. At the start everything was iced over, but as I climbed the snow became deeper and softer. The weather was absolutely spectacular. This was the nicest day all winter by a long shot. I can't think of a better way to start the week. I hope this video is par...
Hiking: Pratt Lake Trail towards Island Lake
Просмотров 1204 года назад
This is my second attempt to hike to Island Lake on the Pratt Lake Trail in a week. The snow was too deep the first time, and I didn't bring my snowshoes. This times I brought my snowshoes, but a week of warm weather changed the trail conditions. I hope this video is part trail guide and part a shared experience hiking through the Alpine Lakes Wilderness in the beautiful Cascade Mountains east ...
Hiking: Kachess Ridge Trail in the snow
Просмотров 564 года назад
Kachess Ridge was my third attempt in one day to get on trail, and it was stunning. I got blocked from my first trail, stuck in the snow on the road to my second trail, but managed to make it to Kachess Ridge Trailhead. It was a great hike with amazing views. This hike is just north of Easton, WA and about 70 miles East of Seattle, WA. www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/kachess-ridge
Hiking: Snowy Road to Lake Dorothy
Просмотров 784 года назад
So I planned to hike to Lake Dorothy and on to Lake Bear and Lake Deer, but that didn't happen. I was hoping to get out away from the rain in Seattle, but I wasn't ready for all the snow! Also the bridge on the Forest Road was out, about 4 miles before the trailhead. This was something I didn't know (I'd never hiked this trail before), but I still had a great time. I would absolutely hike it ag...

Part 3 of the making a Rounding Hammer build series. I'm going to be working alone and only using basic tools to finish our Rounding Hammer. We run into some problems along the way, but that is what this channel is about. We will assess each issue and work through them so w...

Good work friend. Nice job and low investment. Lots of practice !
Love the video editing in these! Please make more!
Ran across these amazing videos! I know its been a while, but I hope you get back to making some more amazing blacksmithing videos!
Man. I am mainly a self taught smith, and I have watched countless RUclips videos. HOW HAVE I MISSED YOUR VIDEOS?! Great videos, and amazing step-by-step instructions! Subscribed!
Tong handles are termed reins.
Great video! What time of year were you there?
February, it was cool weather but sunny most of the time. Definitely needed gloves and a scarf to stay warm on those scooters.
Nice job !
What scooter did you rent? Trying to choose
We got the cheapest 125cc scooters we could find, Sym Symphony 125. Originally we wanted Vespas, but they were very expensive and hard to find in the off-season when we were there. And pretty much everyone tried to up sell us to 300cc scooters, which are totally unnecessary for the Amalfi Coast (but you do need 300cc to ride on Highways in Italy). I didn't think the make and model matters very much as long as they seem well taken care of. I hope you have a great trip!
Hey man, this is one of the best intro Blacksmithing videos I've seen, especially for someone who doesn't own power hammers and such yet. I've just started hammering steel and love it and its guys like you who have brought the craft into my world making it accessible, thus even possible. I really appreciate it and hope you get to make some more. Thank you
Great process.... I was wondering about the hot wax step. Very nice functional project.
I built a brake drum forge yesterday . I created a horseshoe knife (letter opener) as my first project. A set of pliers/tongs is my next build. I really liked your video clip and the fluid of your direction dialog. DM
Thanks bro
Just found you? Nice teaching style...keep it up. Thanks
Your ICON/Brand logo looks like INDIAN CURRENCY (INR - Rupee) Logo……. ! Such a Co incidence.
Wow, enjoyed that. Just a wish that you could text in millimetres as well as stating the measurements in inches. It would make it easier for all your fans using the metric system. Thanks again for a great video.
Raono bandinge jhoss
That's a beautiful anvil
Great video, very informative and also very approachable for a beginner!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Subbed and liked!
Awesome work! Construction work was well explained✌️
This video is awesome and super helpful because I plan on making my first hammer soon. Think it will work with a normal punch tho? Hope you have more videos like this
Is that just mild steel?
Yes, cheap and easy to work with. A letter opener doesn't need to hold a sharp edge, so mild steel works great.
I will be making this today.. Ima noob girl but I like making this things hehe
Can you sand blast and then blue your pliers, cut some knurling into the grips and then use some Plasti-Dip on the handles?
No, but you can. The world is your oyster.
What do you recommend lubricating the joint with?
What type of forge do you use? Is that natural gas forge
It's a natural gas forge with a blower. It runs off a commercial gas line from the city. A standard residential natural gas line wouldn't have the pressure/volume necessary to run a forge that can heat steel to welding temps.
I started taking an interest in blacksmithing during the lockdowns while watching Forged in Fire and once I get a house I'd like to get setup with a small black smiting shop.
..that is some gorgeous scenery. bet it's cooler there...
..maybe the cougar was hoping for a full course meal instead of an appetizer. got to watch those hikes alone. get one of those folding shovels to keep in the vehicle...
No kidding. I made a whole list of gear to get and keep in the car while there is still snow in the mountains; a proper shovel is top of the list 😁.
Great hike! Did you do the 7.6 round trip Diablo lake trailhead route??? How long did it take for you to hike?
oh saw the link to WTA ! thats the one Im planning on doing soon!
@@NomadSami that is the hike I did; it is a good one, especially on a sunny day. I hope you go and have a great time! And it turns out that giant reservoir lake I drove across, and parked right next to, was Diablo Lake. I was hiking along Diablo Lake the whole time and didn't even know it :P

@@RadwynForge you're welcome! We really enjoy making outdoor videos as well
Awesome video!! Loved it. New subscriber here!
Great! I'm glad you liked the video and thanks for the sub!
Great video
Thanks!
Just found you and LOVED this video!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
..Those are some gorgeous views...
Thanks, I'm still working on some camera stuff and composition to keep the videos engaging. This is a whole different kind of filming than in the forge, so lots to learn, but that makes it fun and creative. I hope you will stick around and watch the progress :)
I wouldn’t consider a massive swage block a basic tool...any recommendations for rounding without a swage?
This is a fair point. Honestly I would recommend buying a cupping tool if you wanted to start making rounding hammers. Alternatively you could grind in the convex shape after forging, or if you are lucky enough to have a good scrap metal supplier nearby, you could hunt around for a hunk of metal with a concave depression in it.
Looked like an adventure :)
It really was. I was surprised that most of that adventure was just getting to the trail, but the view was well worth it.
@@RadwynForge Yeah, it looked cool.
Such a beautiful day! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching :)
@@RadwynForge no problem! We have a good time filming our hikes also
..Hopefully they found their friend..
I'm sure he was sitting at home warm and dry :)
I've tried to forge tongs about 5 times with barely any success, I don't know what to do anymore.
Sorry to hear that, but like most things it just takes practice. I still have difficulty punching holes by hand. Holding the tongs with you legs so you can hold the punch and hammer while trying to get everything lined up... ya that is something I'm still working to improve on. Unfortunately the forge is shutdown and won't be re-opening anytime soon, but I do have plans to make a follow-up video of making tongs (I'll try making them using vice-grips to show how to make tongs when you don't already have tongs).
I had a very hard time a few years ago and it actually cause me to give up learning. But I thought I'd try again not too long ago and I realized it was over forging back then So I took it easy and took my time and I made a pair I am very proud of. I can't wait to make more. Metal moves surprisingly well even with small hammer blows. So don't worry you'll get the hang of it
LOL - 'Future you' sent me back to watch 'Past you' do this. Too cool. We dig the theatrics. Always good to throw in a little fun in small doses. ;-)
Thanks, I'm always glad when someone enjoys my videos. Since the forge is shut due to COVID-19 I'll probably be posting other things to the channel, hopefully you'll like the non-blacksmith stuff too :)
Dood - rad "beam it up" moment at the end, there. ;-)
Good vid, man. Nice to see someone else get their rivet all bent-ass wrong, then straighten it out. Tongs are a good project to learn hammer control and techniques.
Absolutely, I think it is important to see that things that don't look perfect can be fixed.
Nice projects for beginners. well done.
Thank you very much.
Good video and good job on your tool but y is the shank so long if this is a stupid question I’m sorry
Not a stupid question at all. Originally I made the shank (the part I will hold with my hand) out of the raw material; big, chunky, easy to hold and work with, but S7 Tool Steel is expensive. So I drew down the shank to recover material that I could turn into something else. I'm probably going to make a slot punch with the material I got back, but the thin shank is still plenty strong to do the job. SHORT ANSWER: S7 Tool Steel is expensive, so I wanted to recover as much as I could :)
Very soft work, produces brilliant work, is very inspiring. GoodLuck, gbu 👌👍👍
