As a person who likes to really blend in with the overall visual style of the game I applaud your beautiful character looks. It's so sad to see so many people in black and white when the game clearly has so much more variety to offer in terms of colors and clothing styles. But I guess it's a testament to our modern times since most people seem to find it hard to introduce even the slightest colors in their real life wardrobes.

So the other kind person explained all about the season stuffs, im gonna explain you a little bit about normal stuffs! Sky is an online game yeah but there is some sifferent things from other online games First, emojis. The spirits can give you emojis and mostly we use that even more than chatting normally. Second, chat. to chat with people, you need benches or chairs around the world. If you sit them with a player ypu can chat with them freely! but most of them have a limited time and you need to pay candle to keep chatting, but instead of that if you liked someone and want to chat with them freely you can also unlock chat on the friendship menu! since its forever its worth it. And third, winged lights. if you want to fly more freely and easily you need them a lot, so i'd recommend you to look some youtube channels and so you can collect it urself, or join offical sky server there are so many people who can help you! 💙 And lastly, sky have so many pretty cosmetics and stuffs thats for sure, sometimes that can be very overwhelming for players. So just never forget that that the most important part of the game is to have fun, you dont need them also you dont have to pay for good stuffs either. There are a lot of free stuffs in the game you just need to ve patient and save candles ^^ Also a channel recommend, Nastymold. if you ever have trouble with any quest and stuffs she post everything daily, you can learn and see it easily! I have some ,,small tips,,. More like a guide xD. Sky can be quit overwelming at first, I think we all know the feeling haha. Actually it is quite simple. When a new season arrives we get a new area with new spirits and costumes and a small story to follow. The costumes can be be unlocked with sesonal candels that you can get from completing daily tasks. The daily task can be found at home between the forest an the valley portal at the small statue. Right now it gives you regular candels for completing a task. When the new season arrives you should speak to the season guide first and teleport to the new season area. Take your time look around maybe do the first quest and then go back home and try out the cosmetics and see if there are some that you like. The ones with the season sign on them ar paid cosmetics. That means you have to buy the season pass in order to get them. Colab seasons always have some packages in the shop that can be bought. They have cosmetics that most of the time resemble the colab more than the other things do and are quit expensive. ( you don't really have to buy them, at least if you are broke like me xD) They wont come back and are time limited. If the season guide himself has cosmetics to offer they are time limit too and will disapear after the season ends (this is only the case for colab seasons). The season guide also offers ultimativ gifts they are always time limited and are only available for people that bought the season pass. To unlock them you have to buy everything from a spirit and buy the heart on top of the tree. When the season ends all the spirits leave and revisit after some time (sometimes years) and you will be able to buy the cosmetics you missed. Thats the case for every season. Every two weeks? A spirit from past season revisits sky. You can buy the cosmetics and the ubgrade emotes with candels hearts and eden chards. They can be quit expensive and I recomend only buying the things you really like. Before you can buy things from the spirit you first have to find them in one of the areas and relive their memory like you do with normal spirits. If you have trouble finding a spirit look it up online or ask somone ingame, usually the are really kind and will help you. After completing Eden for the first time you will be able to find old season spirits everywere in sky. If you find and light them and relive their memory you will be able to unlock the first level of their emote like any other spirit. Every season since season of sanctuary I think? Had a season guide that you can visit to do their season quests. In exchange for 3 candels you can buy a lot of hearts from them ;>. While you are rebuilding the village you will probably come to visit most of them. There are some constelations at home where you can buy some basic cosmetics and emotes. After completing a constelation you can vist eden and buy the hear of the elder of that constelations and from some their mask too. The mask protects you from krills or red shards. If you want to do candel runs to collect candels. Ask other players if the take you with them, that way you can learn the best routs to collect candels and learn candel locations. (maybe I forgot smth but who cares ^^') Now after all of this I have only 3 tips for you: Take your time, focus on the season that got you started playing in the first place don't rush the content. It doesn't run away and this way you will have more of it. Stay social, try meeting new people, sometimes you meet people that aren't nice but don't let that bring you down. Having friends in is a key part in this game and is for me personally the only reason I'm still playing. The game is fun but more fun if you have friends you can joke around with. (there are some people who prefer to play alone though.) And the last one is have fun! Sky is a game that is different from all of the other games and we should enjoy it as long as it lasts. Listen zo the music let other people take you to their favourit secret locations, play music. There are quit a few things you can do. (If you have problems finding people to play with, you can look for them at platforms like discord) Hope this helps. Just in case you weren't sure, it's because of your distance from the mob, if they run too far, they're programmed to run back to their spawn point, but you were still close enough to target so they ran back to you again after xD You were hilariously standing in the perfect spot for this to happen multiple times.

Small tip: when you move while your cast bar is around 75%+ it doesn't interrupt your spell casting, it's called slide-casting, you can use this tecnique to move around without initerrupting your spell rotation.

Get used to Labyrinth of the Ancients, you'll end up doing it thousands of times over your career in FFXIV. (But don't worry its super easy after the 5th time you do it)

PLD main here! Something to look out for when tanking is over-confident players who just want to ZOOM! I can say over thousands of dungeon runs tanking I only experienced this maybe 10% of the time with randoms, but that's still often enough to be an issue sometimes. I don't mind zooming through dungeons personally but I always ask the whole party before I just start pulling everything. A lot of new players just want to experience the dungeons without being rushed, I always try to provide that even if it's just Sastasha again for the 100th time. PS: If anyone is ever rude to you about how to play your role on ANY role, report them and don't look back. I don't love getting people banned or care about power tripping, but that kind of toxic attitude is contagious in MMO's and I've seen it sour some of my favorite games. There are very strict rules in the TOS about policing other players in this way and for good reason.

To mitigate aggro loss, use your aoe to pull instead of your ranged attack- ranged attack works great on single targets like the bosses, or for if a party member rips aggro while you pull. Bear in mind your party composition when you pull too- casters need to stop to cast, and at lower levels not everyone has AOEs so you have to pull small based on what abilities people have. ARR doesn't have "walls" per se, so 2-3 packs is a general rule for pulls because healers can't keep up with full corridor pulls. Have fun!

First off, welcome to the FFXIV community! I'm a veteran player (8 years) and tanking still scares me, i am a healer main. Just echoing what others have said before; if you're new to a job, feel free to let your party members know. This community is very good with letting new players learn and are generally very happy to help and teach as well! All beginnings are always scary and daunting, but you're doing well! Enjoy the tanking experience and the game in general~ Very cozy vibes in your playthrough as well, if i catch you streaming i may just hop in for a watch!

The first step is always the toughest. I started XIV as a White Mage since I was not a confident healer and wanted to break my healing fear. I have learned people are patient especially if you tell them you are learning to tank. You're already well on your way! One last tip, don't be afraid to pop your mitigation abilities (including arms length since it gives enemies who hit you 15 seconds of 'slow' so they auto attack you slower) Enjoy the life of a tank, WAR is soooo good!

As a new player I have a macro that says that I'm new/first time player at the beginning of a dungeon with players ❤. Super cozy playthrough. Alot of jobs pre-50 is tough to play.

as an experienced player, if I see a party member with a sprout icon next to their name, I immediately know they're going to make mistakes. if you do decide to play with other people, just make sure u communicate that you're new. everyone will understand
