What Are Handwheel Keyways?
Thanks for watching our video on handwheel keyways. A keyway is one of the oldest methods of locking a handwheel to a shaft. A square cutout is made going into the shaft and a matching cutout is made going out into the handwheel. These matching cutouts are known as the keyway. They typically come in standard sizes. A small piece of steel that fits tightly into the keyway locks the handwheel to the shaft.
The handwheel slides on to the shaft, the cutouts are lined up, and then the “key” is pushed into place. Typically the key requires some force to push into place. This gives equal turning force in both directions, limited by the strength of the key itself.

PV wire is designed to withstand the conditions of a solar panel installation, including: Sunlight: PV wire is resistant to sunlight and won't degrade when exposed to it. Temperature: PV wire can withstand high temperatures, with a temperature rating of 90°C when wet and 105°C when dry. Fire: PV wire is fire resistant and doesn't contain any combustible materials. Moisture: PV wire is resistant to moisture. Chemicals: PV wire should be resistant to chemicals and be acid or base proof. Electrical hazards: PV wire should be able to withstand fluctuations and other electricity-related hazards. PV wire is made of copper, copper-clad aluminum, or aluminum, and is wrapped in a thick plastic-like jacket or layer of insulation. The Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 4703 specification outlines the design rules for PV wire. **** PV is abbreviation for PHOTOVOLTAIC Wire ***

Nice video. Not exactly sure how I got here being I already know, for my particular installation I can't have 'heads sticking up above the surface', have countersunk holes, and was looking for countersunk 'bolts'... the word Bolts bringing up a question. Wasn't it those I was looking at when you said 'screws'? All my life I have Always thought, because I was Taught, bolts and screws were different. And, that's what I teach--'Bolts are different than screws. They are a different thread type, can be used with nuts, and, if you remember nothing else, are not pointy on the end.' 😄 So now I'm hoping to get some replies. And not some internet nonsense. Personal experience. Because one wants to know if, all their lives, they've been living in a fantasy world. 😄😄 Nice vid. 👍

Thanks, Craig! You're absolutely correct. Pointed tips are the standard for most screws. Countersunk screws are one of the few blunt ended screws out there, another common blunt ended screw type are machine screws. Thanks for watching our video and we're always happy to talk fasteners!
