This Meccano model is of a steam driven Rotary Cultivator designed by the agricultural engineer Thomas Rickett in 1858. I built the model in 2012 it is based on instructions published in the Meccano magazine in May 1968. Having found an illustration of the original machine I made many modifications to end up with the model shown here. It is driven by a small 6 volt battery powered electric moto...

Meccano single cylinder steam engine
Просмотров 2 тыс.12 лет назад
The instructions for "The Single Cylinder Horizontal Steam Engine" originally appeared in 1928 as Super Model leaflet No.11 and could be built with the contemporary No. 6 set later the "K set". It was obviously popular as it was updated and reprinted several times. The last time in 1936, showing the then new strip plates. It is a lovely little model I think and lends itself to easy modification...

This fully working clock is made entirely from Meccano parts with the exception of one small ball bearing. The instructions and description of this Nuremberg clock or Lantern Clock were originally published in the April 1972 Meccano Magazine. I have built it using parts in the 1978 dark blue and yellow colour scheme. The model was designed by master Meccano clock builder Pat Briggs. The Meccano...

Beautiful! Is that a wind up motor that’s running it? I’m dumping my Apple Watch and making this.

I remember making one of these as a kid, I modified it to run from a weight on rope to try to get it to run for longer. I failed. In the end I realised it was more fun making clocks from scratch.

That is one fine machine. In fact I have just started construction of it myself; completed the base just this weekend. If mine runs as smooth as yours I will be one happy man. I also like the changes you made to the cylinders and valve casings - nice; i hope you don't mind if I pinch your ideas ;-) Meccano was invented for models such as this, well done indeed.

Brilliant ! Stunning ! ...so what's the secret to the pillars ?? ;-) How did you fix the bunch of axles at the top and bottom of each of the pillars ..if you don't mind sharing that is. Runs really well too.

Muy bueno tu mecano, es chulísimo. Reconozco que viendo tu juguete, pensé en hacer un Tornillo de Arquimedes para mi maquina elevadora de bolas. Saludos. I love your mechanic. Inspired me to make my home Archimedes screw. Best regards
