Quilting Small Projects with a Zig Zag Stitch
Quilting small projects with your domestic sewing machine is a great option. Today we share a simple and quick technique that uses a long shallow zigzag stitch to add the quilting to your project. It's perfect for pillow tops, runners, toppers and more. It's a great option for beginners too as it's pretty forgiving if your stitching isn't perfectly straight or the spacing isn't totally consistent, this will still look great! Plus you can do this with a regular foot or your walking foot depending on how many layers you're quilting through.

Can I get a replacement cord and what is that cosr
Email me at info@redpinequiltshop.com. Normally any warranty repairs or replacements would need to go through the manufacturer of the item. I think I may have an extra cord at the shop though. Drop me a message so I have contact info for you and I will look.
I appreciate fabric stores that do this for their customers.
What is the name of the quilt behind you? I love it!
That is Cabine with the new French General collection. We have just a couple of kits left! You can find them here. www.redpinequiltshop.com/shop/Fabric/By-Collection/Rouenneries-Trois.htm
Thank you so much for sharing this formula- you have saved my hair from being ripped out. 😉
That's good! It hurts to pull your hair out...LOL
Thank you for sharing! This tutorial came in handy when sewing with the Lori Holt heart quilt paper!❤
Thank you. You explanation is clear and concise. I've used it several times - since i can't seem to remember it from one quilt to the next!😊
@@roseannfrielink8977 I’m glad it is helpful!
Thanks for your quick tips. I always learn something.
Wonderful informative tutorial.
Great advice. Thank you.
Excellent video! I learned a lot. Thank you for clearly stating how to stop and start the blanket stitch.
Love the quilt ! Great fabric colors 🌼
Loved this one, thank you!
Great video and ideas! My quilting plan for my grandson’s quilt fell apart and he is expecting his GRINCH quilt tomorrow. I found your video and was able to change course and finish his quilt. Thank you!!!
Awesome! I'm glad we were able to help you get it done in time!
Great tutorial!
Great video! I like your style and your simple, straightforward instructions. Better yet…we are both from MN.

Thank you for sharing how to quilt using your domestic machine❤❤❤❤
How do you straight line quilt without getting puckers? TIA
If you use a walking foot that will feed the fabric evenly on the top and bottom so you don't get puckers.
Thank you for sharing.
Great video! Thanks for your detailed review and for sharing information on so many pattern choices. 👍❤️
Wow. A great video and I shared. Very good ideas.
Thank you for the helpful advice
Can you tell me what pattern you used for the black, grey, and white quilt?
That's a free pattern from Moda Fabrics called Jelly Rainbow. Here's a link for you my.modafabrics.com/sites/default/files/fp_rss_ps_jelly-rainbow.pdf
Very good demo, thank you!
Wonderful, easy to understand video. Thank you🧵
I line quilt all of my quilts. Don’t want to spend the money or take the time to get to a long armer. Besides I love doing it myself. ❤️
All these examples are beautiful! I love them! I'm going to have to try this method of making a cathedral quilt, you have explained it so well!😀💕
What is the pattern for the gorgeous quilt behind you?
That is the Stars Quilt. We have kits! You can find one here. www.redpinequiltshop.com/shop/Fabric/By-Collection/Bentleys-Snowflakes.htm
Where can we obtain the chart? It’s not in the show notes
In this video we just walked you through the calculation so you could use the formula to calculate any size flange binding you would like to make. Here is a link to my sample chart for you. It just shows a few options, but with the formula you can calculate any size. You can download the chart from our website using this link: www.redpinequiltshop.com/freepattern.htm
Very nice
Joy, You’re always SEW interesting & informative. I love everything you share. Thank you Joy, Nate, Duke, & ALL. Happy Saturday.🫶
Great tip! I’m one who avoids directional fabric at all costs. Ill look at it very differently now.
Thank you
I’ve been looking for an easy cathedral window - love this technique. I’ve also been wanting to practice my machine quilting techniques and this will be perfect. I can do different designs in each of the windows. Also, I think I will cut the batting the square size and glue baste it in. This way, it will reduce the bulk of the fold over portion and make it easier to pink the edges. Brilliant idea to use pinking shears for those circles!
Thank you for the great tips and encouragement to straight line quilt. Working on my 4th quilt project and using the walking foot to do organic line quilting. I’m really glad your video popped up on my feed!❤
Thank you for the PDF for the flange sizes and the video.
❤❤❤
What size stitch do you like for straight line stitching?
Great tutorial! I'm going to be starting one of these this week in fact. Thank you!
Thanks.
Interesting and timely. Bought a yard of a large print (main figure is 14x9) and don't want to even fussy cut it. Didn't want to use it as a backing but you have shown me options that I think I can use. Thanks.
Thank you!
Love this! I have a vintage quilt a great aunt made so many decades ago with prairie points on the edges - still gorgeous to this day. You provided such easy explanations on ways to recreate. Thank you!
