How the Australian holidays work is 2wks in April, 2wks June/July, 2wks Sept, and then 6-8 weeks over Dec/Jan. Even that 6-8 weeks I feel like it’s SO LONG. I will be taking 2 of those weeks off with Christmas etc but other than that I’d like to keep going but more relaxed. Like if they have play dates with their friends that go to school I probably won’t do that day

We take June off and start back the Monday after the 4th of July. It makes for a more flexible year. When we break for too long we struggle to get back into our flow.

We don’t have a morning basket theme but we boated to the big island to see a volcano so we have been reading up on them!!! My kids love rabbit trails so we do our morning basket that way!!! I bought creation to babel but we’ve not started it yet!!! We did sequence one catechisms last year and it was awesome and all my kids where able to hide it in their hearts and my teenagers went more in depth with certain catechisms!!! My older kids do their devotionals in them bedrooms before bed!!!

This is the first summer that we didn't incorporate year-round schooling. It just didn't make sense for us this time around. I am sure we'll use that schedule again because we do love it. Best wishes on your new schedule and school year. 🌻

The pastels break easier if they are the shape of a crayon. So short and fat is sturdier.

We homeschool year round as well! It does tend to get lighter right before the curriculum switch as everything becomes finished, but it is amazing!

This sounds like a very organized schedule. I hope it works out for you, looking forward to see how it goes. We start in august and go till end of May and usually take a 2 month break. We do a bit of school work during those 2 months or try to haha. We take 2 weeks off at Christmas and about 1 week off in spring. But I feel like starting in august gives us that flexibility if we need to take extra time off for sickness etc we can push our school year into June if we need to 😊

we love yr round homeschooling and only done it as we are traveler’s so we take smaller breaks!!! This January we had to start travel schooling as our travels where 7 months at a time but we where able to school slower when travelling!!! We don’t do sabbath schooling but we take a lot of breaks!!!

I came from Anna’s channel!!!TGTB requires a lot of art supplies but I think it’s worth it!!! My older kids asked for crayons and they are teenagers!!! I’m currently organising our homeschool room at the moment!!! We’ve just moved to the us and we bought those notebooks!!! Idk what I think yet!!! Our pastels where the size of crayons!!! We bought them from a cheap art shop in the U.K. as we where living there at the time!!! Target had fun quality pencils but idk what they are like!!! We swap bible journals when they finish one!!! I don’t care what notebooks they use!!!

Great haul! I love the Gummie bear pencil case, I’ve seen those online. Are they from Walmart, I haven’t seen them here yet. You’re right it should come in every color haha. I want it just for decor or a giant sensory table hehe 😉 we love pop it’s over here we have soooo many I don’t mind the sound. They keep my almost 18 month old entertained for a long time. But I get that the pencil case could get annoying fast, hehe. Thanks so much for collabing with me!!! 😊❤

The New City Catechism has a children's version which has more accessible language for elementary/middle school age kids. They also have a curriculum that we have used in kids small groups which has fun activities and discussion questions for each question!

Your morning basket themes sound so fun! I love the idea of doing a monthly theme. Those devotionals look neat my oldest is turning 10 next year. I’m really wanting to add morning basket back in this year we’ve done it in the past but it’s just been a busy season for us so it hasn’t happened. Me again! I bought 2 TGATB language arts levels for this fall for 2 of my kiddos because I was intimidated by printing and spiraling them myself. The ones I bought aren’t spiral bound and after seeing yours, now I wish I’d just printed them so they would open flat! What printer did you use?? What paper?? What spiral binder do you have?? I need to know all of this! 😂😂😂

Yes! So much of what you said resonated with me. We are going back to TGATB. Trying to put together my own LA made me not enjoy homeschooling. It was just SO much and it burned me out.

I’m so glad you feel settled and at peace about this change. That’s something I’m so thankful for; when God gives the nudge to make a change, and then the peace that comes when you listen.

We did BJU our first year of homeschool and it was So. MUCH. And after that is when I had my very first curriculum rabbit hole experience. 😅 But we are so much happier with our other choices. I'm glad you are doing what you feel is right for your family and making the switch.

Thank you to all of you that are going through the challenges of creating wholesome curriculum outside of what governmental "education" has become. To the parents that are taking it upon themselves to take the reins of their children's development. Seriously. Society has gotten so far away from the fundamentals of what it truly takes to raise the next generation. It fills my heart with joy and hope to see such an upward trend toward real truth. Do you find that their math is a little more behind as other materials? Someone else has said that. Just trying to figure out what level I should get.

We have tried a lot of different math curriculums as well. We settled on Math With Confidence.

We do BJU Pre-algebra, there's videos on her posted by private Christian teachers who shared their videos during shut down. I agree don't switch if it's working.
