This video popped up in my feed 10 years after it first ran. I don't know if I ever saw it back then or not. Love Merril Hoge. I remember watching the Combine on the NFL Network and someone said it was the job of the GM to get the most talent possible on the roster. My ears instantly perked up because that is just not true. It is the job of the GM to assemble the roster most likely to win games. The Clowney pick was exhibit #1 of why I disagreed with the "most talent" philosophy. Why? I discussed this issue with a friend of mine back in 2014 which led to me doing some research and writing a scouting report about Clowney which I sent to all the guys in my football league. I too woul dhave taken Mack and I wouldn't have considered Clowney until much later in the 1st round.
