Are you riding that seat with chamois?
@@stevemullin1195 nada. Nothing special needed (at least for me). No chamois, no padded bike shorts, etc. I cannot say enough good things about the Infinity E2! Within 30 seconds of a test ride (on the newer E3), I knew it was the most comfortable saddle I'd ever been on!
@astorytoremember i live here in LA which is where they make the saddles. Planning on scheduling an appointment to try out the saddles for my Surly Bridge club. Saw 2 riders on last years aids ride using these saddles.
@@stevemullin1195 awesome you're so close by!!! Keep me updated on how you like it.
Dude, sick colors! Also, Gnarly saddle!!!!!
@@karimimanuelfox1803 thanks man! Slowly turning into a disco ball on wheels. 😂 Comfiest saddle I've ever used, hands down!
Can you use them on flat pedals even if there is an attached spd cleat?
@@aurumrayz2362 You can! I use the Shimano XT PD-T8000 2 Way Spd Pedal, which is the SPD cleat clip on one side and flat pedal on the other. The Shimano GE7s work great on both sides of the pedal. I flip back and forth depending on how rough the terrain is that I'm riding. Link to the pedals: www.biketiresdirect.com/product/shimano-xt-pd-t8000-2-way-spd-pedal
The music is bullshit!!
How long do you take it for and how much?
@@stephanieenderby7917 there are different theories and preferences. I'd recommend doing a little online research and then experimenting to see what's best for you in terms of dosage and length.
Crazy climb, I've always wondered what the trail / road was like. Do you have your BC trail vids in a playlist? (couldn't find it, might have missed it)
@@MyopicAdventures that service road and trail were brutal! See the playlist below for my BC bikepacking and overall adventures. Unfortunately I didn't spend a ton of time on the BC Trail specifically... Hoping to get back someday! ruclips.net/p/PLpoQdYhkQocrOCIv4KpgA7zbdMJp8wZir&si=5JA5v9vh-3N-SOEx
@@astorytoremember , good to know for future trips!! Thanks!
@@MyopicAdventures you're welcome! Good luck out there.
You look like a small child using a knife for the first time. You need to learn two things before posting knife reviews; firstly how to sharpen and maintain a blade, and secondly how to actually use one.
I just ignored the top bolt and used the supplied hardware to connect two bolts into each fork blade.
Good idea! What bike are you using?
@@astorytoremember specialised diverge
@@davidforbes1086nice! I also connected the bolts to the fork blades, however, used the strap setup to further secure the rack as otherwise it shifted around too easily, impacting the wheel. Hope it works for you!
@@astorytoremember did you connect two sets of bolts to the fork blades (4 bolts in total) ?
@@davidforbes1086 my model (2018 Elite I believe) only had one bolt hole available on each fork. Therefore, I only had the option for 2 bolts in total. You must have a newer version?!
I’m in the early stages of Lymes , any idea if it’s safe to take teasel with the doxycycline ?
@stargazer4269 sorry to hear about you having to start dealing with Lymes. I will preface by saying you should definitely check with a medical professional to see if taking teasel along with doxycycline is safe. I am not formally medically trained in any way, am not a physician and no expert on antibiotics. However, I can at least share some knowledge I do have on the topic... Though teasel is not an antibiotic, it works to boost the effectiveness of antibiotics by moving bacteria back into the body's blood stream, a place in which antibiotics can better attack the infection. I would assume tetracycline antibiotics (like doxycycline) are not an exception to the rule above. However, I am not positive on this, so it is worth confirming that with a medical professional as well. Good luck and let me know what you find out!
@@astorytoremember thanks a bunch , I did ask the Dr they of course have never heard of teasel so they were no help 😆 I’m using teasel as you described but have found no information on them together so I’ll continue in hopes for it to get rid of this soon.
@@Darlingexpressionthe unfortunate reality that often exists with physicians... I hope the combination works wonders for you 🙏🏻
@@Darlingexpressionit's been two months since you left this comment how has your teasel journey been? Do you feel better? Does it seem to be helping? Do you notice any significant differences?
Just wondering if anyone enjoys the taste of this one
I just found a lot of this in the wild. Thanks for the tips. I’m going to be sure to make some.
Awesome find! Have fun!
Do you have any thoughts on the GE5 vs GE7? GE5 seems like it would dry quicker, but looks less durable and has a less rigid sole.
@danielmakana I think your evaluation is pretty spot on. I briefly tested out the GE5s in parallel with the GE7 and actually preferred the GE5 over the GE7 in terms of overall feel (less restrictive in the front of the ankle, slightly better fit on my feet), look and perceived ability to dry out when wet. That said, I ended up going with the GE7 mostly for its durability. Though the ankle strap is most restrictive around the front of the ankle, I was more confident in the Velcro of the GE7 lasting longer as it doubles back around a loop hook, compared to the GE5 which simply straps directly over onto the Velcro pad. Though the more rigid sole seems to make the GE7 slightly less comfortable to walk in than the GE5, for cycling it is probably a better choice, especially when intending to put a lot of miles in. Let me know if you've tested the GE5 out more extensively or end up choosing that model as I am curious how it holds up over time!
@@astorytoremember I ended up with GE7's too.
I am so happy to find your channel mate! I have advanced AS and started cycling a couple of years ago, as I started to approach 40. Now I cycle 150-200km every week, it changed my life completely. If it wasn't for work I would just cycle non stop... as long as my body lets me. Due to my advanced fusion in lower spine and in hips I ride a hybrid cruiser with step-through frame and that supports upright position - which I can now ride all day (and do whenever I get the chance!). Thank you for posting about this - going to do a playlist of all your cycling with AS videos - and subscribed of course. All the best mate - please reach out if you're ever looking at Australia and need any local help.
@intlsubband thanks for reaching out and glad you found my channel as well. This is what starting the "Cycling with Ankylosing Spondylitis" playlist was all about... connecting with others with AS (especially fellow cyclists). Sorry to hear about the status you're in of advanced fusion, but so elated to hear you found cycling as it's an amazing way to prevent further fusion development. Sounds like you found a pretty ideal setup for your rig, awesome! When age did your symptoms start? I'll be sure to reach out when I make more concrete plans to get to Australia... The Munda Biddi, Brisbane Valley Rail, Australian Alps and the Tasmanian Trails are all on my list of "To Cycle". Side note... my bike is a "Curve GMX+ Steel" out of Abbotsford, AU.
This video is a banger!
hey great video ! One question tho , how does the non insulated bivo bottle hold up against normal plastic cycling bottles on a hot ride in the sun. Does the water heat up more in the bivo non insulated bottle ?
@sathwikrao1410 thanks! The insulated Bivo bottles keep water cool far longer than normal plastic cycling bottles. Compared to the non-insulated Bivo, there is a significant difference as well. I've done many all-day rides in 85-100⁰F heat and by the end of the day, the water in the insulated Bivo bottles was still slightly cool, not warm, which is really nice after a day of hot riding. I have one non-insulated Bivo and two insulated. Typically I just drink the non-insulated one first and then the insulated ones after.
@@astorytoremember thanks !

This sounds great! Will see if i can get some. Not so sure about the laxative side of things though 😂
@mylifewithankylosingspondylitis I honestly don't notice too much of the apparent laxative quality. Other things like coffee or prunes are much more effective in that regard 😊
How long did it take?
Took me about 2.5 hours between the two trails. A good mix of hiking, trail running and stopping to sight see!
Awesome thank you, I was going to go tomorrow but I am changing hotel so I will save it for another day so I can also sight see @@astorytoremember
@@BeingWellHolisticHealth let me know how it goes when you do! Definitely a good idea to give enough time to enjoy it 😊 By the way, the two trails connect over a road crossing. Once you get to the road from Monk's, go left maybe 100 meters, cross the road near the turn and the Doi Suthep trail will be maybe 10-15 meters to the right of the little waterfall area.

You need to look after carbon steel, absolutely nothing wrong with this blade. I just ordered one I own a number of condor carbon steel blades fantastic value for money.
@deanoboland agreed. Seemed like a great knife for the money, just not for bikepacking. Too hard to maintain while traveling.
There is nothing wrong with the knife. Its carbon steel. How you gonna take a knife back because you neglected it? This knife would be perfect for food prep in an outdoor situation.
@hoptimer1634, thanks for the info. What would you recommend to pack to successfully and efficiently clean a carbon steel knife (like the Bush Slicer) while out adventuring? Any recommendations for highly humid or wet conditions appreciated!

Hi there, I just finished cycling the ViaRhona trail through France. I have done a lot of long distance touring, for the first time ever my legs, especially my ankles, were swelling up every day. Is that sort of swelling the reason you make your anti-inflammatory tea? And will it work for swollen ankles? Thanks.
Hey Joe, thanks for reaching out on this. Sorry to hear about your ankles. I have never experienced that issue from cycling specifically yet, though I have had swollen ankles when my sodium intake is high. I use the anti-inflammatory tea primarily to combat my autoimmune inflammatory arthritis condition, Ankylosing Spondylitis. However, the tea should help to some extent with any inflammation in the body, including whatever is causing swelling in the ankles. I recommend that the tea (and/or other anti-inflammatory foods/drink) be consumed regularly to notice effects. I have a long list of other food/drinks that are great for fighting inflammation while touring I plan to share in future episodes, but let me know if you want to chat more directly. Question for you... Have you ever experienced numbness/tingling in the hands when cycling a lot? I am experiencing numbness in my right pinky recently. I'm using stretching techniques to combat it, however, am definitely looking for further advice.
@@astorytoremember Good morning, at least where I am. Numbness can be pretty common, seat position, and handlebar set up are very important. This last trip was an experiment with a new handlebar set up and I experienced no tingling, numbness, or any hand arm pain at all. It's not the coolest looking set up, but hey, I'm 61 and have toured around the world, so don't really care😁! The set up I have is a butterfly handlebar with barends bolted on with nice flat touring grips on them. They create a swept back bar feeling, which I was mainly on this trip. Plus I have the few other positions of the butterfly handlebar set up to move around for different positions now and then. Good luck with the numbness.
Thanks for the advice Joe! I figured the setup was definitely in the realm of possible culprits. I just completed another mini-tour and noticed the numbness came after periods where I was squeezing the handlebars hard for an extended period, especially on loose gravel/dirt sections. It was a similar realization to when I noticed I clench my jaw when intensely focused on things ha! Thanks for sharing your new bike setup. Going to feature it in any of your upcoming videos?! Would love to see it.
I am a new subscriber and think I would enjoy your content how ever in this video at least I find the music volume way too loud Cheers

@@astorytoremember I played the video on my I phone seven and lowering the volume didn't make any difference I don't know how the phone handles stereo might be relevant a small detail I am a blind subscriber and audio narration is important to me so to be fair find anything that obscures audio content annoying thanks for taking the trouble to ask Cheers

Excellent. Enjoy the adventure Tyler
Thanks Craig, will do!!!
I enjoyed the video. When did you hike it/what time of year? Was this your first time? What are your thoughts about going South to North? What video cam did you use?
Thanks Matthew! I hiked it in the first week of October and yes, it was my first time at the Grand Canyon as well. 'Twas quite the way to see the beautiful canyon for the first time I must say. The weather couldn't have been more perfect that time of year... High 50s at the rims and mid 80s at the floor. I loved the south to north route... finishing on the less hectic, less touristy side was such a blessing. I also really loved the views of the sunrise in the morning descending from the south rim and the extra 1000+ ft elevation gain achieved going up the north rim vs. the south (I like hiking up). For the footage I used a GoPro Hero 7 which I've had for about 4 years! Are you thinking about doing the Rim to Rim or have you before?
Niiiiiice! I’ll start checking out all your other episodes.
Thanks Seth! Love following along on your journey as well ☺️
